Episode 77 — There, There My Bear Bear
robinsbruce replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
This show better not go anywhere! I really hope Matt was kidding. It's got to have more downloads than some of the less frequent podcasts on this network right? I have gotten several of my friends and my sister into this show but none of them are as into podcasting as I am so they dont keep up with every episode. I will be downloading these episodes on multiple computers around the campus I work on. I'm also close to having some money for another studio gift. Anyone have a bot-net they could get to download these files from the cloud over and over? -
I didn't check the pictures from wednesday, but wow. Howard is nailing the that "eric the unpaid intern" look. I heard that look was making a comeback at this year's coachella. In all seriousness, I want this stand up album now. If Howard wants to press 3 vinyl copies of said album I WILL buy one.

Episode 77 — There, There My Bear Bear

COLTON DUNN. This guy is a riot. The first time I heard of him was here, and he is hilarious on Parks and Rec with Harris. -
Scott has been on fire all of this year in my opinion. I think it was Hot-Slunch who said something about it last week too. Don't know if I agree that he is better with the female guests as opposed to male guests, I feel like his game is air-tight all around. I wish Scott weren't so busy being creative and cool and shit, making tv shows and running podcast networks. Maybe after they finish filming the CBB season 2 Scott will guest on some more podcasts to show off his skillz.

He's definitely someone's favorite uncle.

Sarah reading her flavor text made my day. " It rendered flesh AND bone!!"

I can't tell myself, I would venture a guess as somewhere in graduate studies. Maybe she already has a MS. I didn't mean that as a correction to you either KP. Most people I know don't think of anyone without a PhD as a scientist, but that isn't the case. P.I. or PhD's generally run the labs and teach lectures, and occasionally perform experiments. Most of the "work" that gets published by anyone's lab is done almost exclusively by the graduate students and their undergraduate minions.
-
If she is on ANY scientific publication she is considered a scientist, you don't have to have a PhD to be a "real" scientist. As a physicist she probably doesn't deal with "atoms" as much as "particles." Both can be very nuanced terms depending on the studies being done. KickPuncher is right, the further you go into a field the more narrow it becomes. I'm a biochemist, but my research/work/publications have all been in Plants via hormonal responses regulated by nucleic acids, which means I have a large amount of knowledge on that one thing but not (for example) human hormonal responses. This was a great episode. Ochoa always plays well with everyone.

Episode 22 — The Johnny’s Bananas Writers' Room

I also really liked how they used 'Stard's band as the intro music. Keep rocking Brett. -
Maiden and Priest both fall under what my group of friends call "Quest Metal." I'm always torn between Number of The Beast and Powerslave. I don't think you can go wrong with anything from either album. I hope everything went well for Howard. I anxiously await the release of his new album so I can give a dollar to every guest they have on until then.

that's fair. May I ask what you would say to the african american and mexican people that have southern pride? They certainly arent trying to invoke romantic feelings about the confederacy or bigotry. I just think that you can be proud to be from anywhere, even somewhere that has a negative history of social abuse.

Episode 76 — Foodie Terrorists
robinsbruce replied to admin's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I'm moving to corvallis, OR in the fall. That will allow me to get cheap plane tickets to L.A. and I have a friend that lives and works there (supposedly in some grilled-cheese shop near Earwolf). Do you think it would be possible for me to take intermittent classes at UCB as long as I scheduled my trips accordingly? Do I really need to live in L.A. or NY is what I'm asking I guess? -
You're right to say the "heritage" argument is mostly used as thinly-veiled racism. I agree with that. The confederacy was garbage and the only people who still hold on to that in the south are 100% of the time racist. I would like to respectfully disagree with a certain portion of this as a working class person from central Alabama. "Southern Pride" isn't just a thing for white people, plenty of the african american kids I grew up with and went to school with find pride in the fact that their families made it through the post-bellum south and civil rights movement and are still where their great grandfathers lived. It's a testament to the emotional strength of their families despite what they went through. I have a little "southern pride" myself, and Ill try to explain. My family is all half Irish and half Scottish. They settled in TN and north AL when it was still part of the Mississippi territory. They were poor and working class and were treated poorly by land owning gentry, although obviously no where near as poorly as african americans. My family never owned any land or slaves, and they worked with immigrants and african americans because they were loggers, coal miners, etc. as well. They valued hard workers and family men of any decent, and that tolerance was passed down, which is a positive thing for everyone. I'm also very proud to be from the same state as MLK and one of the original homes of the civil rights movement. It's sad that we ever needed a movement to get people their civil rights, but everyone in AL should take pride in the fact that MLK came from out of that. "southern pride" means something else than to me because of where and how I was raised. To me, it has always been about hard-nosed, working-class people of any race or creed. It's a "fuck you, Ima do me" attitude that I see in a lot of different people. I hope this isn't too convoluted. I just wanted to say that people of all varieties can have southern pride, it just depends on what that pride is about. If they are saying "proud to be a rebel" they are a fucking douche.

Episode 31 — The Professionals
robinsbruce replied to admin's topic in The Fogelnest Files with Jake Fogelnest
I'm with this. I feel like Natasha has to have a spot on Jake impression that we were deprived of, and since they have similar accents she could totes take on a co-host spot every once in a while. The energy of this episode reminded me of the Sklarb ep. in which Jake, Randy, and Jay laughed for minutes at a time. Awesome stuff. -
List of Scott's Frequently Repeated Phrases

11. Hollywood nights! I mean...yeah. 12. Just bro-ing out with my bro (This one is pretty rare so I don't know if it qualifies, generally with Mantzoukas or Harris)
