Actually, thinking about it, is there any way I could offer up my volunteer service as an Admin? (Serious request.) Or is it not only an issue of volunteers?

Like I said, the software and services underpinning this thing have been failing in ways that can only be addressed by Earwolf's tech staff and, given the tiny number of active users, it doesn't appear to be a priority. Moving to Twitter probably represents the lowest amount of friction for Scott (since he's already there) and anyone who cares to participate.

  2. Since Unspooled is the only regularly active forum outside of CBB, I wanted to let you know that the Earwolf forums are not long for this world. I explained in detail over here but the short version is that failing software and the time required to keep it sputtering along are no longer tenable.

I know many of you are already members of the Facebook group, and there might be a section for Unspooled on Paul's (or the official HDTGM) Discord server as an alternative. Regardless, thanks for sticking around and sharing your movie opinions!

  3. tl;dr: This forum will be shutting down on August 1. If you want to submit new Plugs Themes, sign up for a Twitter account and tweet them to @CBBPlugs.

    Why is this happening?
The forums are on their last legs.

    1. Participation here has fallen off a cliff in favor of Reddit, Twitter, the HDTGM Discord, etc.
    2. The service the forum uses to send email is being phased out, which means members are already having trouble signing up/logging in and these problems will only get worse.
    3. Without constant vigilance, the forums are flooded with spam. 50% of new user registrations—more than 200 within the past two months—are from spambots, and I have been forced to hand-approve new accounts and disable private messages to keep them in check.
    4. I haven't been able to get any traction with Earwolf on the tech side. Their priorities are understandably elsewhere.
    5. After eight years of volunteering, I'm the only admin who still visits the forums and, soon, I won't have time.

Why don't you just open up registrations and let the chips fall where they may?
Scott still relies on user submissions for Catchphrases and Plugs Themes every week. In fact, 2021 has probably been the best year ever for Plugs Themes! It would be irresponsible for me to retire without providing a path forward.

    Why Twitter?
Twitter handles all of the registrations, emails, and (in theory) spam protection themselves. Scott can easily check the list of incoming Plugs Themes and bookmark the ones he likes. And the @CBBPlugs account can mute anyone who becomes a nuisance.

    I don't have a Twitter account.
You also didn't have an Earwolf Forums account before signing up!

I'm Scott/an Earwolf producer and I want access to the @CBBPlugs account.
DM me on Twitter and I'll transfer control to you.

    Thanks for your understanding!

I think though the end of the forums is more of a when than an if at this point. I know we've lost lots of great regular posters for various reasons. As some who has been around for a long time and made good friends here it will sad to see it go. I just hope whatever the future holds there will be place for us to enjoy the show and still share our insane theories, needless research, and hard worked out math.

I know as much as you guys about the future of the forums, and I honestly don't think any higher-ups at Earwolf Midroll Scripps SiriusXM even know they exist. The exodus of shows from the network this year—Pistol Shrimps Radio, Superego, In Voorhees We Trust, Big Grande's Teachers Lounge, Off Book, Yo Is This Racist?, Culture Kings (probably), Hollywood Handbook—doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

For what it's worth, I created /r/MusicalMondays and /r/Unspooled on Reddit a while back. They're both currently private/vacant, but the glass is ready to be broken in case of emergency. (If any of you are Reddit users and want to be appointed moderators, I'd happily cede control.)

The last episode made me want to go back and listen to some earlier Gillian Jacobs & PFT episodes, and I found Garry Unmarried (199) is missing from Stitcher, as well as # 198 and 200. Does anyone know what happened there?

Are you a Stitcher Premium subscriber? All episodes older than six months are moved behind the dreaded paywall and require a subscription.

If I sign into my Stitcher Premium account and search for "comedy bang bang 198" (or 199 or 200) I get the desired episode.

Almost a year ago, I went to see the live show in Portland, OR with the film 222. I am a pretty regular listener of the podcast and have been really confused as to why this episode has never aired. I check in every week to see what the movie is and what it will be the following week so I am sure I didn't miss it. And I can find no information on why it never came out. I was even starting to think maybe I had imagined it, but I have the shirt from that show. Baby Fight! Anyone know why? Thank you!

They have a large number of live shows in reserve. This week's episode is Swordfish, which was recorded live in Denver on August 25, 2018.

Hello - new to posting here!

Google as i might, I can't find anywhere online that tells me what episode it is where someone does a thing about their job doing the backing vocals in a karaoke bar - they go on to sing JUST the backing vocals for Colour Me Badd's 'I wanna sex you up'.

Can anyone tell me which episode this was or at least which character? I heard it in one of the 'best of' episodes but i can't remember what year.

    Thank you!

It's #237 Filipino Blockbuster with Eugene Cordero playing Tito Ben.

Anyone else find it odd that the hero of the movie is a cop whose only job is to execute (aka retire) people he determines are not actually human? Don’t mean to get political, but as I was rewatching it during the riots it definitely stood out.

Griffin Newman (of The Tick and the great movie podcast Blank Check) started something of a movement among actors who have played cops and, in doing so, helped normalized cop-as-hero narratives. It's heartening to see them contribute to the cause.

That's not something I can defend logically, just by saying that no other movie really FEELS like Blade Runner feels, with the kind of atmosphere (created by the music and visuals) that washes over you and makes you want to linger within the world it creates.

100%, which is why I also love Blade Runner 2049. To me, the slow sequences that Amy called out are gorgeous and meditative.

Speaking of the Lil sleeping guy, where can we see the fan art? I could not find it anywhere.

You can find them if you search Twitter and/or Instagram for the hashtag #lilsleepinguy. Be aware, however, that there are some things that you can never unsee.

this episode link is broken now :( have been trying to relisten and it's the one episode that doesn't work. "this episode is no longer available from the content provider. You do not have permission to access the requested resource" help earwolf

Episodes older than six months are only available on Stitcher Premium. If you sign up at stitcher.com/premium using the promo code IMPROV, you'll get a month free.

I have no idea how I keep making my replies so janky. 😶

I think it's because you have the Grammarly browser extension installed, which has a habit of doing bad things to forum formatting. I fixed your post from earlier.
