Episode 117 β€” Is Everyone Racist?

Obviously Ti is not going to take on the Onion. He needs guests.

Episode 119 β€” Macklemore on Alt Radio

I liked that the guest called Ti out on his yawning. Do they record this at 5am? Now if could stop doing that yowl every few sentences.

    Episode 116 β€” Chinky Eyes

Where in there do I say that it's cool for white people to say it? keep trolling I was making fun of Ti's gymnastic attempt to twist this back on some unnamed white racists and dodging the fact that these rappers are far more influential than his white strawman is, unless we're talking about Action Bronson, who should lose his penis to a angry dog.

Can't figure out how you got that from what i wrote

    Episode 116 β€” Chinky Eyes

This was probably the dumbest response Ti has had so far. Let me see if I get this... POC basically have no agency of their own, and when members of one ethnic group are insensitive to another group, it's not totally cool, but White People, they suck, right? So whatever. And when a rapper with hundreds of thousands or millions of fans says "chinky eyes" it's far less harmful than when some anonymous white trailer park dweller does. I checked my Sociology textbook and this totally works out.

Episode 114 β€” People Without Color

I kind of thought the caller was using the term to make fun of the phrase "people of color" not white people.

Episode 112 β€” All Skrewed Up

What's funny about this episode is that I remember having this same conversation with a punk rock dude in 1992.

Episode 112 β€” All Skrewed Up

you forgot: 4) If you like music from the 1950s, then you're a racist who longs for segregation

Episode 109 β€” Tyler Perry Movies

This episode isn't available through itunes for some reason.

Episode 106 β€” Racist Against White People

I didn't know that we ALL agreed on that. You learn something new everyday.

Episode 106 β€” Racist Against White People

How can a show that has 85% white guests be racist against white people?

Episode 106 β€” Racist Against White People

Racism is also an ideology where certain races are said to be genetically inferior or superior. If someone (of any race) or some group believes that people of another race are dumb or evil because of their genes, then that is racist thinking, regardless of their ability to pass laws or publicize their views. This isn't the only definition of racism, but it's a historically important one.
  15. Judging by that intro, my critique hit a nerve. Shots fired.

Episode 18 β€” The Indie Episode

I hope someday they actually do an episode about the history of Indie Rap, since this was a huge mess. Maybe if you're going to spend so much time talking the guests about the minutia of their careers you should play some songs by them at the beginning of the show so we could maybe care--especially since underground LA rappers seemingly have the charisma of grocery store baggers.

    Episode 76 β€” What’s Up Brother?

After 70 plus episodes, Ti finally convinces an African American to appear on his show and then tells the audience "Don't listen to Nocando."

Episode 110 β€” Single Guy Vibe

Adam Scott was right-- Rolling Stone comes out every two weeks. It was weird that both of the hosts (mis)corrected him so forcefully.

    Episode 54 β€” Niggardly

The meaning of "niggardly" didn't really change though. The people who have been fired for saying niggardly were using it correctly and did not seem to be using it as a racist code word. If racists were actually running around saying the word because they could get away with it, that would be gross, but this is a real case of people getting offended because of ignorance. I don't use the fucking word, but there's nothing actually wrong with it.

    Episode 54 β€” Niggardly

Chaucer used it a few hundred years before the word it semi-resembles was even coined. Handing words over to racists is bullshit, yo.

    Episode 54 β€” Niggardly

do racists actually use that word? I doubt it. Let's just hand racists a bunch of words they don't even use, and get mad at a bunch of non-racists for using them. this episode is garbage.

    Episode 48 β€” Cultural Appropriation

Sure there are some corny white guys playing the Blues (though there are a ton of well-known black Blues musicians from the past 50 years too: Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Buddy Guy, RL Burnside, etc.) and who probably have elitist attitudes about it. But there are also people who think there hasn't been a good rap record released since 1998, or a good Country song since 1968. People have elitist musical attitudes that have little to do with race. But the host of this podcast in an earlier show said something like "Black people have come up with much better kinds of music than the Blues" which seems to denigrate all of the great black Blues musicians of the past.

    Episode 48 β€” Cultural Appropriation

It would be great if you could get Paul Mooney on and we could find out what he thinks of Jon Daly's "Bill Cosby Bukowski" character, or PF Tompkins' impression of Ice-T or of comedy rappers like Dragon Boy Suede. But I'm sure it's easier to get white writers from "Don't Trust the B" or wherever who "only listen to hip hop."

    Episode 48 β€” Cultural Appropriation

What's up with you constantly dissing the Blues? Seems kinda racist to me. Then again, anyone who does 48 episodes of a podcast about racism and has yet to have an African American guest is suspect.
