  1. Seeing this thread has some new hits I just have to repost;

    Troll the Dice

    www.trollthedice.com or just search iTuneThis has become my fave podcast. Hilarious, often drunken, D&D. U

    Unfortunately you can only get the most episodes on iTunes so you'll have to hit their site for the beginning of the campaign.

    Though they just started a 2nd game running the adventure from the new 5th edition Starter Set.

  2. They should be leveling up soon, right? After all, they have killed a lot of skeletons and cops. Great episode this week. Lots of action. Keep up the good work!

    Yeah cause ya know they keep wicked tight track of things like XP and such.

    Not that it applies to this "game" but I find it lame when characters are allowed to level up mid-adventure. Kind of immersion breaking to me.

    Personally I found this episode quite boring. Work around Gerry's availability damn it! haha

    Oh and am I the only one who hates that damned dice tower?

  3. Loving Blaine's DMing, first off.

    Could somebody please point out to them how magic missile actually works? 1 target+1/every odd Lvl through 9th.

    Auto-Hit, 1D4+1 damage. That scene with Winter& Hug cross-blasting the entire row of skeletons was bizarre. You'd think that Blaine would point it out, seeing as he was *just* playing a Mage...

    Magic Missile thing has been pointed out over and over.

    Pretty sure this episode they actually were not rolling "to-hit" for MM, but not sure how they ended up with 4 missiles each. Maybe the party is LV7?! haha

  4. So, I've noticed that Dag hasn't been adding his strength bonus to his damage or adjusting his attack roll. Also if I'm not mistaken he is using a 2 handed axe which is 2d8 damage not 1d8. I'm not a huge rule nazi, but they are screwing themselves out of juicy damage!

    They have been skipping adding bonuses since the start of the show, why change now? haha

    I think it's just a standard battle-axe not 2-H, but not sure.

    Yeah I'm all for just ignoring any rules "mistakes" they make but when the show intro says they've "been playing over a decade", that really makes me wonder how they don't seem to know some of the simplest mechanics of the game. Of course I listen for the banter not the game play anyway.

  5. The 5th edition stuff starts to come out next month (July 2014) with a Starter Set. WotC will also be putting "Basic D&D" online as a free download. Basic D&D will have all the rules needed to play D&D from level 1-20, with some limitations on options. Basic will only include options of the four core classes; Fighter, Cleric, Mage, Rogue and four basic races; Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling.

  6. I think there's something we all need to remember here around the forums: Except in certain very specific settings (namely games with strangers, like at cons, and tournaments), EVERYONE plays tabletop RPGs by house variants. Some of the variant rules are intentional, some are mistakes or oversights. Fortunately, the collaborative nature of these games mean usually this isn't a game-breaker, and as long as everyone is having fun with the way they're playing all is good. This is true most of all in casual games among a group of friends who have been playing forever. Which is exactly what NP is, regardless of the microphones in the room. So if they aren't playing by the manual perfectly, just tell yourself "they're playing by house rules" and breathe. It clearly doesn't stop them from having a ton of fun or building an interesting campaign, as they prove week after week.

    love that almost every post after THIS one is bitching about rules.

  7. I wont be listening til tonight at work but;

    A Good Ol’ Tavern Brawl

    We follow grave digger Dag Darkomen (Brian Posehn), illusionist extraordinaire Houg Denning (Ken Daly), and elusive thief Lyra (Sarah Guzzardo) as they battle a couple of drunks during an open mic in a tavern headed by Lid (Blaine Capatch) on this week’s Nerd Poker! Plus, Gerry Duggan returns to roll up a new character!

    this alone rules!

  8.

    also, doesn't Dag being Damien's cousin mean that we're near or in Malevania? what does that mean if we know that the Old Asshole has been there and collected people? is this happening pre-collectors?

    Great episode but i think this kind of screwed it up. Blaine says right at the top that it wasn't going to be in Sark's universe, then Brian makes his characters related.

    Look forward to hearing more from Blaine and what Gerry comes up with.

  9. I'm chiming in with hope that they reroll also. I know a lot of fans (not to mention the players) have gotten attached to these characters but I really don't want to hear Blaine try to pick up where Sark left off, because it sucked.

    Honestly I'm very happy about this change. I was actually getting quite sick of this adventure and had started hoping that the group would stop recording play sessions and just do recaps/rants on games and other stuff instead.

    Looking forward to what Blaine can bring, though it is a bit worrisome that he missed so many sessions last time and is now responsible for running the game.

  10. I think an opportunity was missed to role play naked Mildred surrounded by hundreds of naked man Dwarves, or at least an awkward exchange with Trondor. Someone should write some fan fiction of Mildred's time seperated from the group...

    Yes this

    I was so surprised none of the players took the opportunity to crack jokes on this ... AND she wasn't even there to defend herself.

    Totally blown chance for hilarity.
