I was into all that stuff too, but in my mind emo/screamo/etc. was just an extension of the punk/hardcore scene so maybe there's a connection with the alt comedy scene being kind of the punk rock of comedy at that time. I was living in Jersey when I was a teen in the early 00's and I was just as likely to go into NYC to see Assssscat as I was to go see bands play, they both felt like the same type of thing to me. Both scenes were exciting and radical and immediate, also super cheap and in the case of the UCB theater literally underground.

I think ben works best when there's someone there who has no problem telling him to shut up or knocking him down a peg or two, that's why Besser works so great with him, also PFT -

Fart, Mary, Kiss? let's see, well Gabrus definitely has the worst smelling farts, Bessar's real first name is Mary and I don't know who Eugene Corddry is so I'll assume he's a member of some late period Kiss line-up, was he the guy with an ankh painted on his face? -
I think that's not considered an officially accepted contraction, it's more colloquial like "cap'n"

haha you're right and I think I just realized what separates "good" from "evil" in the Dalyverse, everyone who's bad does horrible things willingly but his good characters do horrible things thinking they're doing good things.

The one thing I still don't get about Oh Golly You Devil is how did Andi Calahan RN go from being a serial killer doing horrible medical experiments on vagrants in an abandoned house to being not only on the "good" team but actually being God? I know he said he was going to be kill himself and be reborn as a dragon so maybe he's just a god rather than the god, still don't understand how he ended up being good

Is there a best introductory episode to CBB?
denimgremlin replied to VajayjayLeno's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I like to recommend ep 78 with Doug Benson and John Gemberling, I have a soft spot because it was one of the first episodes I heard and the one that really got the CBB hooks in me. I like it because it's got a great 1st guest, Doug Benson who not only is a pretty well known alt comedy/podcast personality (I listened because I knew him from Doug Loves Movies the first podcast I ever knew existed) but he also has a great rapport and history with Scott. then Gemberling's charac is not only hilarious but just dirty and weird enough that it gives a good idea of what goes on with the podcast without being so filthy it scares more squeamish people off (for example, as much as I love James Adomian there are few episodes of his i'd spring on the uninitiated). there's alot of eps that fit this criteria in my opinion that's just the first that popped into my head. -

haha yeah i know. I love Mookie though he's hilarious.

Solo Bolo?? Time Bobby 3?? are you all being paid by comedy lobbiests or something to vote for these weak ass episodes just because they have CBB favorites in them? there were so many funnier episodes this year, you people disappointment me. I think last week's picks were way funnier than these episodes, though I will say I loved the Andy Samberg/Todd episode and Wompler's birthday had great people but was way over stuffed. since we all can guess which ones are going to be picked next week that means, no love for Gino, or the amazing Todd Glass/James Adomian episode or He He

I second this. hearing him on Harmontown is pretty good proof of his chops, whether its him improving scenes with Harmon or his hilarious D&D playing.

Episode 56 — People With Impossible Superpowers
denimgremlin replied to JulyDiaz's topic in The Cracked Podcast
me too! Cracked was one of the shows I had neglected for a couple of weeks so I was catching up today. One of the things I love about this show is how you have the footnotes at the end and at least try to make sure your info is correct. I'm glad you called bullshit on the monkey story guy, when I heard it I was rolling my eyes so hard I almost tipped over. It's a nice story and I'm all for shining a light on the horrors of animal testing but it seemed so convenient in that way that so many apocryphal stories are. anyway, great ep, I'm gonna go look up that deaf hearing vest and learn so more about it, so cool! -

yeah they don't it's weird, I'd love to see that Jack Mcbrayer one though

in a sense, they were basically playing the same characters with the same relationships to each other and so when the scene changed they had to play it within that world, gabrus and betsy as roomies and stephanie and eugene as a couple who live in the same building. it's a cool idea but i think since there's usually so many callbacks and using the performers own names in scenes on i4h usually that it didn't stand out as that different.
