Caught this movie tonight. A decent premise which gets totally muddled in the execution. Susan Sarandon plays an emotionally damaged, alcoholic detective in a sleepy Canadian town dealing with a serial killer. Plenty of cop movie cliches like the frustrated boss cop, and a partner who likes to play things by the book. Also there's Topher Grace. A lot of the fun in this one is in the weird non sensical details. Like actual cops finding a body and just not calling it in, or the cops having to travel a great distance to find someone who can translate Latin. The movie knows where it wants to go, but it's super lazy and sloppy in getting there.
