    After Earth

I was wondering about that when I read what Will Smith is doing for most of the movie. You would also think the magic suits they wear would have had the ability to constrict in certain areas if needed.

    After Earth

I'd like to share some excerpts from an interview Will and Jaden recently did that I found quite entertaining. Will: I'm a student of patterns. At heart, I'm a physicist. I look at everything in my life as trying to find the single equation, the theory of everything. Will: Like for Best Actor Oscars. Almost 90 percent of the time, it’s mental illness and historical figures, right? Jaden: [Points to his dad.] Like you worked in your family business with your dad. I’m just working in my family business with my dad. Patterns, boom. Jaden: I think that there is that special equation for everything, but I don't think our mathematics have evolved enough for us to even – I think there's, like, a whole new mathematics that we'd have to learn to get that equation. Will: I agree with that. Jaden: It's beyond mathematical. It's, like, multidimensional mathematical, if you can sort of understand what I'm saying. Now I understand that Jaden is only 14, but the fact that he has a father who not only talks out of his ass but seems to encourage his son to is not a good sign. I think this also shows how Will could be so out of touch that he thought this was not only a good movie but one his son could carry.

    The Zookeeper

I'm a little surprised this hasn't been recommended yet, although I'd imagine there's a good chance nobody here has ever seen it. I remember when the previews first started airing being amazed how horrible it looked, and after recently being forced to watch it with my nephew I can assure you it is much worse than you could possibly imagine. One positive, this was the most enjoyable movie watching experience I've ever had with him. Even though he's only 8 years old, we spent the entire movie making fun of how horrible this piece of shit is. I know this is a fairly obvious choice but I think it would make for a really great episode. *Before posting I searched The Zookeeper and nothing came up. After posting found it crazy nobody had suggested this yet and typed just Zookeeper and saw it's already been suggested. Sorry.

    Oblivion

Sean summed up what I thought of this movie perfectly. Shannon, after reading your thoughts on this and After Earth, I think I speak for everyone when I say you are more than welcome to rant about any movie you want to on this forum. Great stuff.

    After Earth

Ever since I saw the first preview for this I've had an unhealthy hatred for it and have been waiting for months hoping critics would hate it and it would bomb. That said I can't bring myself to actually pay money to see it, so thank you Shannon for sharing all this craziness with us. Also, were the accents as bad as people are making them out to be?

    Eli Roth #169

Trust me, you definitely don't need to dig into Hemlock Grove.
  7. You're missing Matt's point completely vgfitzger. You insulting Freak Dance had nothing to do with what you were talking about and everything to do with you wanting to be a dick. There was no reason for you to bring up Freak Dance when saying he knows nothing about video games, you just wanted to let him know you didn't like his movie, which is a total dick move. As far as people not defending Freak Dance, it wasn't that you didn't like the movie that was a dick move, it's that you threw it in when it had nothing to do with what you were talking about. That's why nobody is defending the movie, because it's not that you didn't like it, it's the fact you felt the need to tell Matt you didn't like it just to be a dick. I personally didn't bring it up because I feel it can sound a little kiss-assy to not only agree with him but then also say I loved the movie. But, since you're making a point of it, I did enjoy the movie. It took me a little while to really get into it, but about a quarter of the way in I really started to dig it.

    Prometheus (2012)

I agree with what Ryan said, about one of the biggest problems being people knowing it was a prequel and expecting all kinds of answers while also inevitably comparing it to Alien. I'm sure that's why they actually tried, for a number of months to tell people it wasn't actually a prequel but its own movie. The problem was they let the cat out of the bag early in development and all the information that leaked made it pretty clear it was very much related to the Alien movies. I think once they realized how little they were going to answer in this one they knew people would have exactly the reaction they did. Full disclosure I, like Ryan, enjoyed this movie as well. While there were some things I had to overlook I found the overall movie really enjoyable, breathtakingly beautiful at times, and am very much looking forward to the sequel(s).

This is one of the major complaints I've read. Apparently both Smith boys have this strange accent that everybody has in the future, and neither one pulls it off very well. I'm guessing that's why the most you hear Jaden say in any preview is "No suh". There is literaly no point in making a 14 year old use a weird accent while asking him to carry a movie with this much CGI interaction. I agree with Sean, all the reviews I've read have said that while it's horrible it's more of a "when will it end" kind of horrible. So even though this movies reviews are on par with M. Nights worst, Airbender, it doesn't seem like HDGM material.
  10. By saying you didn't want to say anything negative about the guest you were obviously implying that you had something negative to say about her. If you really wanted to be polite and talk about the positives of the podcast you wouldn't make it clear there was something you didn't like and then say, but I'm not going to mention it. You would have just said what you liked about it. It's like if I walked up to someone and said "I'm not going to say anything negative about your face, so I'll just say I love how your glasses cover most of it up". Even though I didn't say anything negative, they would know what I meant.

With how brutal the reviews are and how well Fast 6 did opening weekend, I wonder if Fast 6 could beat it this weekend. If it were able to there would be no way to spin it as a succesful opening, given Will Smith's track record. No matter what though this will make a ton of money overseas based solely on the two Smiths.

If any good comes out of this movie it will be that Will might get Jaden some acting lessons before giving him the lead in another 100 million dollar movie.

    Cabin Fever (2002)

I also thought this movie was ok for what it was, although I agree there were some really nasty parts. I can't stand anything else involving Eli Roth though. Even in Inglorious Bastards, which I thought was really just a few great scenes and performances, as soon as he came on screen I got really bummed out.

    Live Show question

For a normal show they do it like you said, announce a week before they release the episode. As far as them taping two shows in one night I'm not sure, but if I had to guess I'd say they will give you atleast one week notice for both shows what the movies will be and wouldn't be surprised if they announce them even sooner. I don't know for sure but am almost positive they'll give you atleast a weeks warning.

The Cat in the Hat (2003)

A little off topic but...It's pretty amazing how fast and far Mike Myers fell. Other than drugs fucking up a career I can't remember someone going from as high as he was to as low as he is in the past decade.

    Behind the Candelabra

I think most people assumed he was gay but the press wasn't like it is today so he just never admitted it and nobody really made a big deal about it. I know it's hard to believe now but I guess people cared more about the art he made than who he was fucking.

    I Am Sam (2001)

Sean Penn's over the top performance isn't even the worst part about this movie. I don't know who the director was but I'm almost positive he was a music video director at one point.

The Garbage Pail Kids Movie (1987)

Although I haven't seen this one yet, based on the trailer I think this would make for a great episode. It's Pat was pretty crazy/bad but I don't know how good of an episode it would make. And if I had seen this movie when I was a kid I definitely would have had nightmares.

Episode 221 β€” The Cake Council

Great episode. This past month or so has had some really amazing shows and I'm really hoping there's a bro down episode coming up. I know the Zouks was in the anniversary show but it's about time for another Andy Daly/Zouks show.
  20. With how long the poll has been up and since you can only vote for each movie once I would imagine anybody who has any interest in voting already has. With that being said The Happening was under 2100 last time I checked a week ago and is now over 2100 so votes are still being added, just more of a trickle now until they put a new group of 10 movies up.

    Star Trek: Into Darkness

Shit. Looks like I've got egg all over my face now. Sticky egg whites dripping off my face. Sorry if I made anyone feel uncomfortable.
  22. But even if you use your real name and city the odds of anyone, celebrity or otherwise, ever contacting you in the real world is next to zero and they know that.

    Star Trek: Into Darkness

A simple search would have shown this movie has already been suggested. Also if the way Kirk and Spock looked at eachother made you "uncomfortable" then you are an idiot. And that little bit at the end with the Adderall and how specific you got with dosage and such was comedy gold.

    Disturbing Behavior (1998)

The only things I remember from this movie was a crazy janitor who hated rats and realizing Katie Holmes was the hottest woman I had ever seen.
  25. It all has to do with the anonymity of the internet. I can guarantee you none of these people would say these types of things to you in person or even over the phone. I've always found it very strange the way people feel the need to not just criticize something or someone on places like the IMDB boards and such, but the way a very few people talk about performers and hosts on the earwolf boards is really quite sad sometimes. The Comedy Bang Bang forum tends to have the most personal criticism and I really don't get it. All these shows are made by very smart and talented people who get paid very little, if anything, trying to produce a funny, smart, original, experimental show every week that costs us exactly ZERO dollars. I'm sure some people will say "but they're making it for us so we should be able to complain and they should listen". While a little constructive criticism is fine I guess, but in my opiion unneccesary for a FREE podcast, some of this stuff goes far beyond that, like trashing a movie somebody spent years on simply as a fuck you because Matt didn't give your favorite video games the respect they don't deserve. I remember when Jash was coming out I think Sarah said "it's ok to fail" or something along those lines. I feel like that's how most of the shows on Earwolf are approached so if there's something you don't like maybe don't go running to be the first to say something negative about a show. And if you do feel the need to complain don't be a fucking dick about it and shit all over something they actually put a lot of time and effort in.
