    The Lone Ranger (2013)

It will definitely make a profit. Even if it only makes 100 million domestically, which it will have made 50 of by Sunday, it will do very well internationally. Depp is a huge star and no matter the quality of the movie international audiences will go to see any summer action movie he's in. All the Pirate's movies made 300-600 million more overseas and even The Tourist made over 200 million in the international market.
  2. I take it this means nobody will be admitting I was right all along? Not that it's a big deal, but many of you seemed to think I didn't know what I was talking about it, when all I did was notice Paul's obvious attempts to avoid talking about The Happening and used a little common sense to figure out why.

    Episode 64 — After Earth

While I disagree with Shariq about Safety Not Guaranteed, there's no denying the way black people have been depicted in movies. I actually thought they did that scene in Safety because of the stereotypical way they have used black people in movies, showing the way middle class white people think of black people based on their depiction in movies, or maybe I'm giving them too much credit.
  4. All I was trying to say from the start. Wasn't trying to make a big deal out of it, just pointing out what I found to be fairly obvious based on what Paul was, and wasn't, saying about the FYI site. The only time I went on any kind of a rant was when it seemed those of us who were having a conversation about it were being blamed for them not doing it.

    Episode 64 — After Earth

You may be right, I'd have to rewatch to be sure, but one thing I know you left out is her calling them racist for not wanting to get out, which I feel makes a big difference. Obviously everybody will interpret movies differently but to me by her commenting that they were being racist, they were using it as a chance to show yet another flaw the douchebag has. As far as the geek, I don't think he would have wanted to get out in the middle of the night in a place he's never been no matter if there were black or white people, based on how he acted through out the movie. And while it has nothing to do with what you're talking about, it was definitely Duplass who called and said they'd have to meet up some other time.

    Episode 64 — After Earth

That's not really how the scene played out nor were they trying to portray the black people as bad guys. She asks them to get out, the camera focuses on the two black guys in the background and the douchebag says fuck no, without either of them ever making it seem like they're about to get out. She then calls them out for being racist, which I think they were trying to show what a stupid dick the douchebag is and how the geeky kid is afraid of everything, then Duplass calls her and tells her they'll have to meet up some other time because in an earler scene she made him think they were being followed.

    The Internship

Both Vaughn and Wilson used to be pretty good comedic actors, Wilson even co-wrote Andersons first 3 films, but their choice in roles has changed quite a bit. I doubt they even read the script of a movie like this or a Couples Retreat, all they worry about is what they'll make and know they'll have a good time making a movie together.

    Mercury Rising (1998)

Oh yeah, didn't they put it in the magazine without anyone knowing it? I guess I just invented a reason because of how pointless it was.

    Mercury Rising (1998)

I haven't seen it in a long time but if I'm remembering correctly, they did it to see if it was possible to crack at which point they would create a new one and kill whoever cracked it. I know that sounds pretty stupid, but I believe that was the reason they gave for it.

    I Am Sam (2001)

I was mainly just pointing out that it looked very much like a music video in a lot of parts. There have been a number of music video directors who made the jump, but thte good ones don't make movies that look like shitty 2 hour music videos. I'm not even sure if the director did direct music videos, just that his style is that of a crappy music video director.
  11. I don't really think I come off as "mentally unstable", but more power to you if you feel the need to say that. We'll find out if I was right or not sooner or later.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

Seeing as how Will and Jaden are basically the only 2 actors, and all their scenes are separate, I could definitely see Will standing over M. Night's shoulder during all of Jaden's scenes. And when the guy who's paying for the movie tells you to do something a certain way, I don't see M. Night doing much arguing.
  13. I most definitely will and will make a post about how stupid I am. I honestly didn't consider that a possibility so I apologize if that is the case. I mainly felt he was being serious beause of the choice of After Earth, it just seemed like they were not wanting to do The Happening so they did another M. Night film to make up for it. It just really felt like he was being serious so I didn't really even entertain the thought he could be joking, so sorry if that's the case, I just felt like I was being singled out and took offense to it. I'll go ahead and change the post to something we know is true.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

To be fair though, I'm not sure M. Night knows, atleast based on his last few movies, what the difference between good and bad acting is. I've never been a big Marky Mark fan, but in the right hands he can be a good enough actor, yet his performance in The Happening was as bad a performance as you can give. So even though I don't think Jaden is a good actor, I seem to be the only person who didn't enjoy his performance in The Karate Kid, I think M. Night had a lot to do with his shitty performance in After Earth.
  15. I've never heard of it but I'm sure others have, this isn't the place to start a discussion on it though. Go ahead and start a thread on it in Bad Movie Recommendations and I'm sure there will be some people who have seen it. Also recommend it at fyi.earwolf.com if you haven't already.

    Mystery Men (1999)

Incase anybody is interested, I just noticed they recently added this to Netflix instant.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

I agree with Justin, it's not that we've turned on him it's just that this movie not only sucked but he gave the lead role to his son who is just not ready to carry this type of movie. I also think his film choices have not been very inspired lately, he seems more concerened with if a movie will make 200 million than whether or not it will challenge him as an actor, or if the movie will be any good or not. I think the reasons he gave for turning down Django Unchained show that his process for picking roles is a little flawed.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

That's a good point about there originally going to be Airbender sequels and I agree with you for the most part, but I still think there could be an After Earth 2. Because Will's production company produced it and because of how brutal the critics have been towards the film and his son, I think his ego is too big to not want to prove everyone wrong. And he certainly has the money and connections to do a sequel if he really wants to, as long as it performs as well overseas as I think it will.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

Come on man. You're not going to do the movie that recieved 2000 unique votes in the inaugural poll on the site that was worked on for months to pick the fans most popular choice, because of what a handful of people said on a message board? Kind of defeats the purpose of the FYI site, if that was the real reason.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

I've read that during promotion for the movie they distributed pages and pages of backstory for the After Earth universe, so they definitely had plans for a franchise. I also wouldn't completely rule out a sequel either. Although it's bombed here, there's a good chance it could make a ton of money overseas, like The Last Airbender and all of Will Smiths movies. And even if it just barely makes a profit I could see Will, whose company produced it, wanting to make another one to prove all the naysayers wrong. I would actually be surprised if there's not a sequel eventually, Will Smith's ego is way to big to just let it go.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

Yeah, you and Shannon's thoughts on the movie were the first things that came to mind when I first listened to this. Although, as you said, I'm sure it will still be a good episode.

Episode 222 — A Peanut In The Rain

The streak continues! Scott's Howard Kremer moment with Mr. Marshalls show names was great, and Garry and Gilly were hilarious as usual, but Ducky's "What A Thrashable Slope" was one of the greatest things I've ever heard. I feel bad for everyone I know because I plan on saying gnarly back scratchers and tasty Daffys all the time. Seems as though GIlly and Garry will be giving married life one more shot, can't wait for their next episode.

    Episode 63.5 — Minisode 63.5

Since they're doing After Earth, because apparently everybody has been requesting it and not because it's an M. Night film, and the announcement of Howard The Duck as the live show, without any mention of The Happening, I guess we have our answer. I'm guessing it's because of Zooey's role in it that they don't want to do it. I'm not sure how many people have requested After Earth, but I do know 2000 requested The Happening, 700 more than Howard The Duck. Obviously not a huge deal, just hope in the future the they'll do an episode on the winner of the polls.
