    Episode 154.5 — 11/15/13 TWO CHARTED 93

This is like three straight weeks of him talking shit about Hulu Plus. To be fair, Hulu Plus is a garbage service -- I can watch I Love Lucy on the laptop but not on the tv, with the added bonus of commercials that I'm paying for. The only enjoyment I got out of it was the fact that the "This program is sponsored by..." voice was Lee from The Walking Dead game (which is so much better than the tv show).

    Episode 154 — Glory Hole Jack-O-Lantern

Just want to alert people to this picture of a young Howard (or Wee Wie, as KuKu put it) on Kulap's instagram today.

    Episode 75.5 — Minisode 75.5

JESUS, EarBear. That is terrifying. Was that Revlon going "well, Ray Charles did a thing for McDonalds, so this should work out"?

    InAPPropriate Comedy (2013)

Ugh ugh ugh ugh I think that the Oxiclean dude would have made a great movie. I believe that string theory allows for this possibility to exist, right?

    Starcrash (1979)

This is pretty good trash. If I was drinking a bottle of wine tonight and had to pick between this and Gravity, I'd pick Starcrash. Can you believe John Barry (who did the scores for eleven James Bond films, among many others) composed the music for this? Or... Starcrash 2!

    Episode 75.5 — Minisode 75.5

This movie is sooo much better in Hindi and makes just as much sense. They got Cindy Crawford and the best leading man they could get was one of the lesser Baldwins? Really? I really do wonder how much she got for this movie, because it seems like they weren't able to spend money on anything else like decent actors or a screenplay.
  7. Awesome lineup! Julie Klausner was terrific on @Midnight last week. Howard Kremer will be very jealous if/when he finds out you got Kitty on the show. p.s. I listened to the Bread & Butter episode twice last night while in the kitchen and watched the video about ten times in a row; for the life of me I cannot fucking figure out the narrative in that song. Is the screaming guy the woman? Are the two brothers the man, collectively? First-person accounts or third-person? The ambiguity begins to drive you crazy after a while (although that could just be the song working its awful magic).

    Space Jam (1996)

Because It wasn't at quite the height of Jordan's fame but he was an extremely popular, likable, and bankable athlete. I imagine the people involved assumed it would be like printing money, and they were proven correct. We've talked about the weird hip-hop versions of the Looney Tunes characters; was that a thing that happened before or after this movie? I'm assuming this is what caused that? You used to see adults at the grocery store or whatever in those stupid fucking t-shirts, for like years and years. I'm sure it could probably be a hip/ironic thing to wear now. This website (as pointed out earlier in the thread) is still up! It is a wonderful view of the possibilities of Web 1.0: http://www2.warnerbros.com/spacejam/movie/jam.htm

    Episode 154 — Glory Hole Jack-O-Lantern

Indoor Kids started out being primarily about video games but these days it's more of a pop culture gab fest with the angle of two very funny people who are married and play Halo together. Depending on the guest it can be more serious or not, but I would say being a gamer (current or former) will definitely help your enjoyment of the podcast. Give it a shot, Ron Funches was on an early episode -- it's evolved a lot since then; I would say the recent one with Kevin Pereira and Brea Grant (G4/Nerdist) is a good example of what the show is like these days. Ron Funches was on @Midnight last week with the Sklar brothers and it was delightful. That show is quickly becoming one of the funnier things on the teevees.

    Improv in Portland

Curious Comedy has classes all the time. I can't vouch for them, but they seem to have the most consistent improv nights in town; I've seen some really funny people there. Someone's got to fill the Ron Funches and Ian Karmel shaped holes in our city's heart!

    Krull (1983)

This is one of those movies I loved, LOVED as a kid (yay, borrowing a friend's VCR so you could make copies) -- upon rewatching as an adult I realize what a dumb kid I was. This movie is basically a shameless mashup of Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings. It's not a great movie, but it is pretty entertaining and the Glaive IS the coolest fucking weapon ever. Some of the set design is actually pretty terrific too.

    Nurse 3D (2013)

Oof, my eyes just rolled out of my head. "And then it became sexy again. It's like, "wow!""

    Howard on @Midnight!

Watched it last night, Howard brought his A-game. There should be a show where he just describes emojis. "Cat shit RULES."
  15. I know I should let a mod post this, but I just wanted to let other Chartists know. Tonight at 6:00pm PT, Emily Gordon will be filling in for Kulap and the guest is the delightful Ron Funches. This will be an amazing mashup of personalities! www.youtube.com/earwolf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWLBgJ4IIQc

Twooch VPN tonight with Emily Gordon & Ron Funches!

Emily had some good dancing going on for the charts, you missed out. And listening to her and Ron explain Animal Crossing to Howard was awesome (he took notes).
  17. Jeff Krulik? AWW YISS. He is a helluva guy. I can't wait! Very interested in his "Blassie Goes To Washington" stories.

Twooch VPN tonight with Emily Gordon & Ron Funches!

Whoops -- I guess it's not Twooch, it's Whooch. It being on a Thursday after a proper Whooch (OR WAS IT?) confused me when I posted.

Tears of joy. Remember kids, life is so much shorter than you think -- don't forget to tell people you love them.

    Episode 75 — Daredevil

That's a bit generous of you; I'm just a regular old school film nerd with a copy of The Psychotronic Video Guide To Film, living in a city with one of the greatest video stores in the country. I like movies. You know who would make a great Daredevil? That guy from Gymkata. But seriously, let's talk Luke Cage casting. Terry Crews? Terry Crews.
  22. Ahahahaha, before my work moved we had a life-size cardboard cutout of this jackoff and used to doodle on him. What I would have given to be a fly on the wall during the meeting Garth Brooks had with his record executives about this project. I think at one point they were even giving away this cd at McDonalds. I'm psyched to listen to this. Derrick Beckles is a great dude who was doing those incredible TV Carnage mixtapes way before those Found Footage Fest guys started their shtick (and I'm pretty sure they pulled a few clips from TV Carnage and presented it as "found footage"). He came to Portland maybe five years ago and I don't remember anything except that he was wearing Zubaz pants and I laughed my ass off.

    Episode 153 — Jedi Skills

I love how after talking about his Gravity date, Frank acted like he was taking notes a la Howard. "I'm writing that down." Y'all should check out Kurt B's podcast over at the Nerdist, The K Ohle. He did a pretty good one recently with the much loved Brett Gelman, though my favorites have been with CBB sweetheart PFT and another with Kristen Schaal because everything she touches is a goddamn delight.
