  1. While a polished character is just fine, hearing PFT work out a new premise, and repeatedly surprising himself with spontaneous backstory is awesome. Lapkus was great solo and transitioned beautifully to a foil once PFT came in. You could feel the chemistry building throughout the episode, peaking in WYR. Great episode. Even Harris' foam was pleasingly terrible.

  2. Dan Harmon fits this show perfectly. His outrage and sarcasm duel with Jason was amazing and his reaction to the first second opinion tied a nice bow on the absurdity.

Zouks with the shameful self outing of X-men lore. Though I think it was Cassandra Nova that wiped out Genosha with Sentinels. And now I have outed myself.

  3. I was very happy to see Halfway to China breaking the top 3. I only wish in the selected clips they included Don DiMello's description of the 'Chocolate Lady' who has 'no idea what's going on.'

That line destroys everyone in the studio, and is one of my favorite things DiMello has ever said.

Here's to a great year! Cheers!

My favorite line of any episode ever. The video clip when Andy is losing before he even gets it out, and the room breaking into a frenzy afterwards, could be used to wake me from a coma. I've listened to the whole episode a dozen times and it holds up beautifully. And while Daly is at the absolute height of his brilliance Zouks served as a perfect improv foil in all of the episodes that they did together.

How can something so dark and bleak be this absurdly charming? I would have placed it #1, but given how amazing the top 2 were I can't raise too much of fuss.

  4. So I'm 99% sure that the top 3 will be ep 200 with Zouks and Daly, Womplers Pool Party and Time Bobby 2. The question is what order they will be in

There is no order that top three that could shake down in that would upset me. Those are three of my top five all time episodes. Should any of the three be omitted I will make very verbose and specific threats about never listening again....and then slink back in quietly a week or two later.

  5. This one started a bit off but picked up once Dalton got there. I love PFT's work, I find him consistently brilliant with tremendous range, but the Alan Thicke character leaves me a bit cold. Maybe actually being Canadian makes some of the accent and culture stuff read a bit flat.

I still enjoy PFT in any form, and once Thicke was used as a straight man to flush out the other characters Paul's wit and improv ability shone through, but Alan Thicke is the only character of his that feels thin and a bit lifeless to me. Still, the man crushed "The ghost of Richard Harrow" out of the park, so I have faith he'll find the hook eventually.

Comedians making fun of other comedians. HOW TREACHEROUS! BURN HEEERR! BURRRRNN HERRR!!

I hope this keeps up in the thread so Scott can give another sincere thanks to the forums in the holiday episode.

Shelby was great on the podcast, no one is calling for torches, just a bit of professional courtesy.

ps. Horatio's off topic WYR questions cemented this appearance as an all time best.

I don't play Dungeons and Dragons. I don't care about Dungeons and Dragons. But when she was making fun of Brian's podcast DURING THE COMMERCIAL on Analyze Fish...welp. Not paying any attention to what she has to say. Just a dick thing to do. I don't even care how cool it makes you to pick on nerds!

At least we got two all time best-ofs in three weeks. That's gotta be a record.

The Nerd poker guys (and girl) are my favorite human beings that I don't know in real life. Attacking them without warrant will always bring out a protective instinct, and possibly a slanderous warsong from Patton Oswalt.

  8. While I realize you can never get a full sense of a person from the podcast medium, every time I hear Kulap on anything I think "What a lovely human being". From her pre concert concern on Anlyze Fish, Her appearance on HDTGM, and assorted stray episodes round 'bouts she consistently comes across as the nicest person in the room. I feel like that sort of thing should get some shine.

Good god, why does Aaron Nevile's easy betrayal of Earth make me laugh so hard.

  9. As soon as I heard Small's characters my Venture Bros circuits fired up. I didn't know he did so many voices on that show...he was in bonus territory from that point on. He absolutely killed it. That was a Kroll, Adomioan level multi character throw down. Surprisingly great chemistry between everyone.

Good old swifty "I used to be pretty, look at me now"

  10. Wow, that was some dark shit this episode. For some reason, I was thinking of a weird Wicker Man craziness to it all...the whole possession and mass killing. Some dark ass stuff, Sark.

Two things that got me laughing:

    1. Brian's Amarth Star Wars masterbation reference- I near shorted out my screens at work. That was brilliant

    2. Blaine's throw away line that not everyone caught- "Hey we found your Parn stash" So subtle in the background amongst the craziness of everyone talking.

    I completely missed that gold.
