  1. Don West was indeed the inspiration for those sketches, as Ferrell was actually doing an impression of Don. It's interesting that Jake went from a Don West clip to a wrestling clip, as West went on from Home Shopping to become a commentator for a wrestling promotion called TNA. Don brought the same level of energy/screaming to those shows for several years, but he was replaced a long time ago. Also, sorry to bump up another old episode's thread, but I wanted to say that I started listening to The Fogelnest Files because I was interested in a certain topic (like Nathan Rabin's book) or the guest was somebody I liked (Todd Glass, Andrew WK, Scott Aukerman). And now I'm a fan of Jake himself and this show! So thanks, Jake, for giving me another great podcast to listen to!

Episode 241 β€” The Stallone Bros.

This was glorious. Nick and Paul just went nuts together and were SO funny! RIP Ron Paul Scheer

Remember, around 10 years ago, when Burger King debuted this band/marketing campaign for chicken fries? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr0W105d5yw I sincerely wish this was an actual band that got to put out an album. Even if every song on it was about the dollar menu, I would still crank that shit daily!

    Episode 240 β€” #TheWorldsEnd

Sweet bonus ep! Gave me something to enjoy today while I'm off work with a cold. Also, I hope Sharon Gless will come on to promote the final episode of Burn Notice, and assert that she doesn't need a big red D next to her name in show credits.

    Episode 239 β€” New Dad

Sorry, I did a poor job differentiating when I was joking and when I was serious. I've seen Jay's stand-up, I've seen Action and SNL. I know Jay's great, I just wanted to throw out an obscure reference. Suicide Kings!

Not really great for audio, but please enjoy this German hockey mascot who krumps and breakdances:

This is a bizarre trailer starring David Caruso: And here is a short video explaining it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNXI4oG97iU

    Episode 239 β€” New Dad

My wife can be a hypnagogic jerk, am I right fellas? Also I'm surprised Jay Mohr was funny on this, because I only know him from the movie "Cherry Falls" which is a slasher movie, and not a comedy (well, it's a horromedy...whatever). Seriously, though, Jay's good. Hope he comes back sometime.

    Generation Gaps

Hey, this was great! The pop music urban myths I recall from junior high, pre-internet times both involve Marilyn Manson. The first is that he had his bottom ribs removed so he could suck his own cock, and the second was that he was Paul from The Wonder Years. Also, while there is an obvious lack of narration in today's film trailers, the comparison really shouldn't be made between the first Die Hard and the most recent one. People already know what Die Hard is by the time the fifth one came out. Two years prior to the first Die Hard, there was a sixth Friday the 13th, and the trailer for that is a graveyard, the signature "Chchchch Hahahaha" sound effect, lightning striking Jason's headstone, and a casket opening to reveal that it's empty. That's it. 'Cause we already know who Jason is. No explanation needed. Sorry I come off like a nitpicky douche, as I agree with the overall point being made, and I don't honestly recall the "In a world" guy nearly as much as I recall people making fun of him. And the theme of the whole podcast was fascinating, and I'm looking forward to the next...however many of these you guys plan to do. I dig Cracked and Earwolf, and you've just gotten peanut butter on my chocolate. Thanks!

Episode 94 β€” Hands In The Air

T-Rex from Jurassic Park. Which, I'm pretty sure if he didn't consent, I'd know about it.

Episode 94 β€” Hands In The Air

The whole debate about tricking an animal into a sexual act reminds me of a National Geographic article I read a few years ago about how orchids have developed particular smells that mess with the pheromones of bees. Basically, trying to have sex with these flowers is what causes the pollen to rub off onto these bees, and then the bee flies off to try to screw another flower, and that's how we get pollination, which is how flowers reproduce. The article made a point of how the bee ejaculated onto the flower and then left, humiliated. All of that, just for me to say that flowers are exploiting these poor animals and something obviously needs to be done about these bastard plants. Moving on, this episode was hilarious. I would love to hear this whole group come back for another episode. I'm a big fan of all of these people.

    Which movies have you seen/own?

I have terrible taste in movies. There are movies I own or have seen before even hearing of HDTGM, and there are movies I've bought or searched for because of HDTGM. Here you go: - Drive Angry (bought because HDTGM made it sound awesome, was not disappointed) - Sucker Punch (bought cheap at a Salvation Army store) - Crank 2 High Voltage (HDTGM made it sound awesome...again, was not disappointed) - Green Lantern (Saw it at the theater) - Gigli (saw it when it hit PPV when I was younger) - The Wicker Man (Saw it a few years ago because I'm a Nicolas Cage fan) - Punisher: War Zone (I like comic books and comic book movies, so I wound up buying this) - Leprechaun in the Hood (saw when I was in high school, and hated it) - Superman III (love the Christopher Reeve Superman film series) - Jingle All the Way (seen it numerous times) - Crank (HDTGM made it sound awesome, was not disappointed) - Godzilla (saw at a Drive-In Theater when I was young, I own the DVD) - Judge Dredd (saw when I was a kid, but I didn't watch it again until after listening to the HDTGM episode) - Spider-Man 3 (didn't care for it, but I bought it to complete the trilogy) - Batman & Robin (I'll see/own anything with Batman in/on it. I didn't like it when I was a kid, but I actually find it more enjoyable than Batman Forever nowadays) - Barb Wire (bought because HDTGM made it sound so-bad-it's-good, and it kind of is) - Super Mario Bros. (seen numerous times since first catching it at the drive-in when I was a kid...and I own the soundtrack on cassette) - Sleepaway Camp (saw the Robot Chicken episode that spoiled the ending, and wanted to own the movie because it sounded bonkers...was not disappointed) - Cobra (HDTGM made it sound awesome...was not disappointed) - Devil's Advocate (saw on TNT one time, still remember it pretty well) - Spice World (saw when I was a kid) - Street Fighter (seen multiple times) - Howard the Duck (like it when I was a kid, bought the DVD as soon as it came out) - Demolition Man (seen multiple times since I was a kid, but rewatched on AMC right before listening to the episode of HDTGM) - Sharknado (watched on OnDemand as soon as I saw there was a HDTGM episode) - Over the Top (seen multiple times since I was a kid) That's 26 movies.
  15. That. Was. Amazing! I nearly spit out my Jap tea at the revelation at the end! I already can't wait for our next visit to the Womplerverse. Thanksgiving? Halloween? Columbus Day? Whenever it is, it isn't soon enough!

    Episode 159 β€” Stink Sacks

Love Toby's work. This was a lot of fun.

Episode 140 β€” Scotty Boy, My Special Boy

Armen is a delight. He's awkward and he's filled with joy in a world rife with cynicism. And his yearning to be liked by Mr. Aukerman is the kind of premise and delivery most sitcom writers would kill to be able to create. Armen is not a good guy. He's a great guy. PUSH THROUGH, CHING CHONG!
  18. That was hilarious. When the barbershop trio of rapists start harmonizing, I completely lost it! Could not stop laughing.
  19. Feel free to add "Breakfast Vouchers" to the Best Of. That was amazing!

    Episode 68.5 β€” Minisode 68.5

I actually have "Hot Potato" on DVD, so I know what it's about. But I sent a synopsis in anyway. *shrug*
  21. I loved the TSA sketch. And every sketch. This show is amazing.
  22. I dug Jimmy on SNL, dug him on Late Night, and I dig him right here! This episode was a lot of fun. Though I'm super jealous I've never gotten the opportunity to dance with Parker Posey. Some day...*sigh*
  23. This episode is kinda old, but I just listened to it now. I never really think about MTV anymore, but I used to watch all the time back in the days of Liquid Television up to Celebrity Deathmatch. My favorite MTV "Events" were always the Rock N Jock games. Those were always cool. I did watch a couple of episodes of My Life As Liz and I thought it was an okay show. Anyway, this episode was a fun little trip back through time.

    CONGRATULATIONS MATT AND DANIELLE!

Improv Babies, we make our dreams come true, Improv Babies, we'll do the same for you... Sorry, I'm an idiot, that's the first thing that came to mind. The second thing that came to mind was "Congrats Matty B and Danielle! Your kid is adorable!"
