    The Live show 100% made it worth it. There was a definite "connection" with the audience because of a shared hatred that we all had to watch it. I can't remember how often in PREVIOUS episodes it happened but several times here the audience just let out a chorus of "booooooo"s. People were SEETHING over this movie. I think if the movie had just been mediocre it would have been 'whatever'. The movie genuinely pissed everyone off and the hosts completely played off that. 

    I think knowing that's NOT in fact a student film and a "family project/series" is absolutely SHOCKING and is acceptable for being a punching bag.

    Neil Breen is a special kind of filmmaker. Similar to The Room/Tommy Wisseau. 

    This movie was pure torture. It was just so... inept. There are probably 100 adjectives to describe it. Just amateurish. Easily, easily easily, the worst movie they have ever done. No redeeming qualities. It felt like a high school movie, but even then I know teenagers can do better than this.

    I can usually find these things online. I own the DVD, and there is a "deleted scene" where it's clearly an outtake where Donnie Wahlberg breaks character. It's pretty great. Someone has to post it/find it.

     

    My favourite part about this movie is that if you start to hate it, just wait 40 minutes and it becomes a different movie.

    Just watched it. I can't be the only one who thought that she was going to wind up with Jeremy?

     

    This has to be one of the most inconsequential movies I've ever seen. Did Emily learn a lesson from attempting to hook up with her teacher? Does Lola face backlash from her parents? Does Kyle face backlash from his best friend for being with Lola?

     

    The answer to all these questions is no.

    I don't know how you guys didn't mention the absolute insane PEDOPHILE subplot.

     

    Where unlike most kids movies where the love interest is age appropriate - we have a kid (10 years old), and an FBI agent (let's say 27 and that's being generous). Now sure they go on a "date" and for most part it's the kid being blind and oblivious- but at the end- she DOES KISS HIM. And they agree to meet up in 6 years!? So she'll be 33 and he'll be 16.

     

    The problem is that it doesn't come off as creepy as it should be for two reasons.

     

    1. Any scene where they "talk"- they are the only ones in the scene. If anyone witnessed how either of them acted- they would be called out to stop being idiots. Or in her case a pedophile.

     

    2. It wouldn't be as bad as if the genders were reversed. Imagine if it was a "male" FBI agent saying "meet me in 6 years" -- TO A 10 YEAR OLD GIRL!

    I saw a great episode of Conan last night. It had good sketches and special guests Jeff Garlin, Andy Daly, and Todd Barry. Would you please consider Jeff Garlin on HDTGM? During Conan's interview, Garlin discussed how much he loves to hate bad movies, and he then ripped apart "Need For Speed."

     

    I saw that too. He definitely seems like the type who would love to be on the show.

    Three things:

     

    1. Paul and the gang were right- Why did they even need Rip to be on the network when they were already number 1. If they were struggling so much- how could they afford to give Zeus $100 000 two weeks in a row. Also, June's confusion about the last fight being a "battle of the tough guys" is because the first fight took place in a bar. The second fight took place in a steel mill. And then,... it takes place in a ring? With a ref? And the same location as Rip's network?

     

    2. Can't believe you guys failed to mention the awesome theme song that closed out the movie.

    -- it's right up there with WInner Takes it All, and Meet Me Halfway.

     

    3. I think Zeus' eye/eye brow come from a burn injury in a back story. Possibly from a lightning bolt? (ZEUS!)

    There were a lot of generalizations about tattoos, and I think that the argument would have been different if one person had even 1. I'm not saying that many people get them because of what other people think, but it isn't very scientific to say that this is the case for every of the tens of thousands of people with tattoos these days.

     

    I think it depends on the tattoo. If you have barbed wire/skull or something on your face and neck, it's not THAT bad to make a generalization about that person.

    It's a real shame the forums are so dead on this show. Cracked is one of the best new podcasts of the last year or so, and deserves a lot of love. Considering the smart topics and thoughtful discussion, you'd think there'd be lots to discuss here. Admittedly, I'm not help... listening to these things at 1AM when I am usually still baked and getting ready to sleep doesn't exactly help me think of things to say. Especially since it's a smart podcast, popping in and being like "You guys are awesome!" just seems lame.

     

    Anyway, great podcast. Keep it up guys. You guys are awesome! I've listened to every episode and plan to continue to do so as long as they keep coming out.

     

    It's honestly become the highlight to my Mondays. It's become a ritual to listen to it on my way to work.

    Which is all the more reason WHY they shouldn't be acting like they're about to win the NBA Finals when those little assholes keep scoring point after point after unanswered point. I don't think those little pricks missed a single shot! I mean, the one dude did a fireman's carry to the one little shithead, and that shot still went in, but then the baddies celebrate like they just got done tag-teaming the kid's mom or something. They are terrible at what they do.

    The bully team doesn't make a God damn bit of sense. At no point are they getting the upper hand, but they're acting like they are? Dude flips one of the ninja kids, whose shot (like the eighth point in a row) still goes in, and then the villains high five like they just won the game and didn't come a point closer to losing the thing. Whhhaaaaa? They seem to get LESS frustrated as the game goes on, despite having done absolutely jack shit. I know I saw this when I was much younger, but I don't remember it being so frustrating.

     

    The Ninjas gave the bullies a nine-point lead.

     

    This movie really needs to be done.

     

    You know a movie is a good when 3 minor characters could have had their own movie/side adventure.

    When Donnie Darko became a hit, they let Richard Kelly do whatever he wanted. He did this (and then The Box - which could also be done).

     

     

    He was given free reign and he had also done a prequel comic series for people to watch before the movie. It's mind boggling the amount of work he put in. These are always the best failures:: The passion projects. Right up there with Toys and Hudson Hawk.

    Another great podcast guys. A few things I'd like to touch up on:

     

    Sir-Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back. While the song (and the video moreso) are considered a joke, is it wrong to say that the song has lead a huge influence on people today? Within the last 10-15 years a primary focal point of attractiveness comes from a woman's ass. IE: Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardishian. What makes this interesting is that the song was released in 1992 - but it's not until10 years later where it's influence took effect. Most pop culture fads stemmed by movies/music happen immediately then fade away. This is a slightly long winded way of saying it was ahead of it's time- which goes to my next point.

     

    Comedies are difficult to gauge as what will stand the test of time. But the case seems to be that the more 'ahead of it's time' the comedy is, the more it will be remembered later. The podcast talked about Reality Bites which had near zero effect on pop culture and was directed Ben Stiller. Stiller had also made Cable Guy, another bomb at the time, yet over the years it's somehow retained this certain charm about it that was overlooked the first time. Ace Ventura was a huge hit for Carrey and it should be noted I think it was one of the first movies that started the whole "yelling whatever the main character is saying to be funny". Now it's looked back on as being "stupid" and Cable Guy being the far better movie.

     

    The trick is that when it comes to Comedy- you have to be two steps ahead. You can't be starting or continuing a fad- you have to be thinking what's still going to be funny- and can it start to be funny in 10 years? Another good example is Mr. Show with Bob and David. While it only lasted four short seasons it's really held up over the years. Despite being a minor hit as it stands, I also think 30 Rock will definitely retain it's humour over the next generation.

     

    It's when comedies become TOO successful that tend to reach a point in their cycle where they're no longer funny. Some TV shows subvert this like Seinfeld and Frasier which have retained it's humour over the years, but I don't think we're going to be talking about Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men the same way- despite being enormous hits- they're already looked at as bruises in pop culture. Some stuff can still be "ok" but be REALLY dated. That 70's Show just feels... 90s and... silly. And the same goes for Married...With Children.

    Holy shit this movie was such a disappointment. i cant believe how much i hated it

     

    This is hands down the worst movie ever made.

     

    Wasn't that the point? Were you entertained?

     

    This movie is a mess as others stated but i watched it late at night and loved it the same.

     

    This movie has an identity crises, it starts out as horror with the supernatural backstory. Then it goes into military mode and finally becomes a thriller where they have to stop the bad guy. Yet this movie is so creative and unique that I feel compelled to enjoy it. Seeing the fight inside someone's brain is truly original.

     

    This guy gets it.

    Reading this made me think that one of the few figures without the manufactured origin story is Wayne Gretsky. Everyone remembers him as the guy who grew up and was more or less destined to be one of the greatest hockey players of all-time. He wasn't held back. His coach never said he wasn't good enough. Every step of the way he was one of the greatest from day one.

     

    Although, I guess it can just be put under "Canadian" origin story and part of how other people came to view Canada.

     

    I'm not sure what I'm talking about, but I'm sure it's something.

    I loved Surf Ninjas as a kid, it just celebrated it's 20th anniversary. It's crazy, it's enjoyable, and since the kid in this movie is played by one of my friends it would personally be really exciting for me.

     

     

     

    If he's one of your friends, maybe you could somehow get in contact with Paul and get him on the show. I find the best episodes/bits involves members of production regaling stories of what happened. I would never care about a Crocodile Dundee 3 episode but Berry's take on what happened in the process was easily the best part of it.

    I'm a daily reader of Cracked, and a podcast seems like a no brainer. This first episode was really good. My only issues were that most of the interesting facts were things I'd already seen on Cracked (a minor issue, as it's still interesting to hear it discussed), the music is a little intrusive at times, and not enough Seanbaby.

     

    Yeah, the music non-sequitors were a bit too random (or at the very least overused) for my taste. Otherwise it was a great first episode.
