Episode 85 — Color of Night

I know it was discussed in the episode a little bit, but I can't seem to get over this. The fact that everyone was romantically involved with a woman with the same name and not have it raise a red flag to them, is the most ridiculous part of the movie to me. It is reasonable to assume that Scott Bakula was dating a Bonnie as well, since Rose/Bonnie/Richie states that Rose only came back when she met Bruce Willis. So a group of 5 people are all talking about their lives, and how they recently met this new woman named Bonnie and not one (including the therapist) gets a whiff that something weird is going on? I felt like Lesley Ann Warren was playing the same character that she played in Clue. PS, why isn't Bruce Willis reporting any attempts on his life to the police?

    Episode 84.5 — Minisode 84.5

I can confirm that forrest porn is a thing, but maybe it is a Massachusetts thing.

    Episode 84.5 — Minisode 84.5

It is funny to me that this movie is right after Jason's great riff about finding porn in the woods from the live No Holds Barred show. This came out in 94. I was 17 at the time, and my brother and I went to see this movie solely based on the fact that it was a borderline porno. Something like this was a major event for those under 18 pre-internet. From the mini episode and the posts here, I am guessing that is why just about everyone saw this movie.

No Hold Barred Corrections and Omissions

I actually think "Rip" was a placeholder name as well, or at least total laziness.. A play on Hogan's shtick of ripping shirts when he came to the ring..

Episode 84 — No Holds Barred: LIVE!

The person asking the questions went on to chastise the men for always interrupting June. I can see why it was cut out, but it actually led to one of the funnier moments of the podcast, when Jason (jokingly) stepped in to answer the question for June.

    Episode 83.5 — Minisode 83.5

The ONLY problem with this episode was that it was restricted time wise as a live show.

Paying 10 bucks for a matinee isn't much different than paying 4 or 5 to rent it.. I don't see what the big deal is

    Episode 82 — Double Team

In a movie that was 90 minutes of complete nonsense, this took the prize. I almost shut the movie off when it happened, because it was just such a ham-handed way to get a basketball reference in there. It really bothered me.

    Corrections & Omissions: Mortal Kombat

I loved Mortal Kombat, since I was like 13 when it came out, but I had a hard time with this one even for nostalgia purposes. The thing for people who didn't play the game much is that the story was just a basic shell to provide some backdrop. It is not like the game relied on the story, or it played much more than providing some context to their look or finishing moves. What I didn't expect is how much the call backs to the game bothered me (and I even think teenage me had a similar thought). Shang Tsung saying "fatality" or Scorpion yelling "Get over here!!" just seemed so forced and awful. PS, I have no idea how Paul was able to not get the pronunciation for Shang Tsung right, it was only said in the movie about 2.7 million times.

Episode 80 — Jack Frost: LIVE!

I am kind of on board with June, I thought the first 40 minutes were decent.. This episode was amazing by the way.

    Episode 79.5 — Minisode 79.5

Great point. The kid starts living again by rejoining the team, and he gets to see his goal, which calls back to their conflict when he was alive. Literally everything is wrapped up at this point, just have Kelly Preston see them at the rink. Never mind that "J shot" curl and drag is basically all in the wrists

    Episode 79.5 — Minisode 79.5

Here are my thoughts. There feels like there are two movies here, the whole "man following his dream who learns that he is already living it" cliche film, and the pile of dog shit that is the rest of the movie. The first half of the movie really doesn't stand out as particularly awful. Cliche ridden and derivative for sure, but not unwatchable. Has a band ever been signed based on a "Frosty the Snowman" performance? It was very convenient for the radio DJ to let us know that at nearly 70 degrees "it's warm enough to melt a snowman".. you know in case we didn't realize that was where the plot was heading. There is a scene where Michael Keaton is talking to himself about how dumb making a character named Jack Frost be forced to inhabit a snow man, too bad he didn't have this discussion with his agent before signing on. Alive Michael Keaton is supposedly this super cool guy; Snowman Michael Keaton makes nothing but the absolute corniest jokes and one liners. How in the world did Kelly Preston not know something was weird with the snowman after seeing his mouth, what snowman ever created has a real looking mouth?

I am so excited for this! I recently discovered the show and have been binge listening for the last couple of months without watching the movies. Now that I am all caught up, it is iTunes rental time!

The amazing part of this is that neither of those movies actually had a witch in them.

Over the Top - Opening Weekend

By the way Mannequin would be an amazing movie for the show. I happened to watch it a month or so ago and it makes less sense than any movie I have ever seen. Just one part - Andrew McCarthey's job is to create window displays for a department store. The mannequin inspires him to create such amazing window displays that people are congregating around them (this is somehow the least improbably part of this section of the story). The company's response to this is to have a BOARD MEETING where the topic of firing him is debated. It is like they are allergic to success, people are taking notice and shopping at this downtrodden store and their response is to fire the person responsible.
