The signs of a bad movie list

Too much exposition, for sure. I don't have a good threshold for how much is too much, but like Justice Potter Stewart once said, "I know it when I see it".

    The Brave Little Toaster

If Brave Little Toaster was the casus belli for this commercial, then it was entirely worth it.

Which Movies Does HDTGM Absolutely Need To Review?

Seeing Ed Herrmann's name at the Oscars reminded me of Lost Boys. Not sure if that movie is "bad" enough, but the Coreys have been ignored for too long for this to continue. So my "must" is some movie featuring the Coreys. We can also have a bonus discussion about Corey Haim's pre-rehab vanity video.

    Fantastic Mr. Fox

Honestly, I never read this thread before, because I liked the movie and it didn't have the kind of terrible writing, direction, etc. that makes some well-loved movies terrible in hindsight. But I'm not going to fault someone for disliking the movie. Nothing to lose your mind over. It would make a pretty bad HDTGM episode, though.

    When In Rome

I know that my wife, who listens to this show, has seen this one more than once.

    Soul Man (1986)

What's amazing is that this might not even be the worst C. Thomas Howell movie. That honor probably belongs to Side Out (1990).

    Red Planet (2000)

    The Last Boy Scout (1991)

Fun fact: that opening scene features Billy Blanks of Tae Bo fame.

Which Movies Does HDTGM Absolutely Need To Review?

Relatedly, the Allan Quatermain movies are incredibly bad Indiana Jones knockoffs (although the books are apparently much older). I remember seeing the "Crystal Skull" knockoff from a hotel room in Mexico. Don't know how many levels that rates below "on an airplane" but I'm sure it's a few.
  11. Scarface is a genuinely bad movie, and is a great emblem of 80's excess. But I don't see how it can be broken down or discussed in a genuinely funny way. Just my opinion.

LETHAL WEAPON 2 -- This will never get done because Seth MacFarlane got there first, but this movie is completely bonkers, even by the standards of the Lethal Weapon franchise. I like the episodes where fondly remembered movies are skewered, and this is definitely a prime candidate. POINT BREAK - I am not the first person to suggest this. NEW JACK CITY - But only if Chris Rock is the guest contributor.

    Episode 48 ā€” Sleepaway Camp

Generally speaking, I like the HDTGM episodes where a bad mainstream movie is being discussed (Demolition Man, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc.) more than those discussing B- and C- movies. However, Sleepaway Camp is the exception. I watched the movie (loosely interpreted, packing boxes with the movie on in the background) just before listening to the episode and I'm glad I did. Ho-lee shit, what a terrible and awesome movie all at the same time. Definitely my favorite HDTGM episode.
