  1. I have a personal vendetta against this song now that it is played at every wedding I've photographed ever.
  2. That was when Christmas fucked me over and made me fuck everyone else over too.
  3. I 100% get that and am also the same. I am also just trying to be a good friend that saves you from wasting so many hours on such terrible movies lol. Like, okay I will expand to say I would watch Twilight for the origin story and to support Catherin Hardwicke trying her hardest with the source, and then I would skip New Moon and Eclipse like so hard lol.
  4. Dude, trust me, with this you can. Actually just watch Breaking Dawn Part 1 and you'll literally get everything from the first 3, because they still harp on the same shit and you'll get to see a grown man fall in love with a CGI baby.
  5. UGH! Of course it was a couple of months ago whenever I last checked and even thought, "I should watch this soon now that I know the story." THIS ALWAYS HAPPENSSSSSS
  6. I am 90% sure the Streissand version is on Prime too, but do you know if the Judy Garland one is? I'm too lazy to sign into my account at work lol.
  7. If I know this group we're all gonna end up watching every version anyway lol.

    Us *SPOILERS*

Omg I had totally noticed that she wasn't on beat at ALL but I never thought it would have to do with who she ends up being at the end. Damn, if that's the amount of detail put into this then I'm even more blown away than before.
  9. Elektra, Michiel Huisman was Daario. We're still on GoT theme if we stick with my main squeeze here.

    Captain Marvel *SPOILERS*

Yes! I couldn't properly put that thought into words but I think that's kinda what I was feeling as well! Like he kept trying and trying to get her to prove who she was in relation to fighting him that whole movie, and so to hear her say that she had nothing to prove made me be that person that clapped and was like "YAS QUEEN!"
  11. It's a constant battle tbh. But my love for Michiel Huisman has made me take this shit seriously now because he's Dutch LOL.
  12. Danish. Cause Gods of Egypt taught me the same thing lololol. Also because I'm finally getting it straight that Denmark = Danish and Netherlands = Dutch lol.

    Captain Marvel *SPOILERS*

Yeah! I was really hyped about that too! And even though they threw Nirvana in there I loved that it was the song they could actually hear and it was to me another little hint at her becoming who she was with those first lines literally being, "Come as you are." I really loved this movie lololol.

    Captain Marvel *SPOILERS*

LOL okay yeah about the same, but I still fucking lost it at that song drop because that's my favorite No Doubt song lol.

    Captain Marvel *SPOILERS*

In my opinion I think that scene where she breaks out of the Supreme Intelligence was an unspoken way of her presenting who she is, because she's also become more quippy and way more full of sass. So for me at the end if she had said that I think it would've just been too on the nose and felt too orchestrated by writers. Cause I think this whole time that's exactly what Jude Law was wanting from her, she was supposed to prove herself worthy to him over and over and was deemed too emotional each time. From a female perspective that all rang sooo true and I believe the point is that emotional reactions are also conscious decisions but when a woman does them they are seen as emotional and wrong. No matter what Carol said in that moment it was her decision to end that at that moment because she wasn't going to fight by his ridiculous rules anymore. He was scared of her true power plain and simple and wanted to show that in a fist fight she wouldn't win against him. Once again he wanted her to prove that she was actually strong. It was a perfect moment.
  16. I'm about to listen to the episode but I have to say what I said in the recommendation thread way back when. This movie was so bad it ruined a date for me at 14 and I'll never forgive it.

    Us *SPOILERS*

Ah yes I did forget about the choking. But I still think that writing wise they would have planted a little bit more to let us in on the fact that the Adelaides were not who we thought they were because even if Adelaide #2 (Above ground Adelaide as we know her at the time) was trying to play it cool and act like she didn't get it there wouldn't be as much of a need for Adelaide #1 to explain shit, because she knows that she knows. I also think I just need to see it again lol.

    Episode 209.5 - Minisode 209.5

The Haunting for sure has next to zero fun compared to 13 Ghosts. At least with the latter you know Matthew Lillard knows what movie he's in. Everyone in The Haunting thought that they were honoring Shirley Jackson so seriously.

    Us *SPOILERS*

This was also a question I had as well. Is the tether more of an "idea" rather than a physical thing? Because once Adelaide #1 switches with Adelaide #2 then #1 becomes tethered to everything that #2 now does above ground, but #1 is the one born with the "soul" so it doesn't seem like that should be the case. Yet, #1 mentions that everything #2 does effects her (i.e. Having a C-Section operation, dancing, etc). In my opinion, I believe that is really when the Underground people saw that Adelaide had a soul, because dance is something that is truly spectacular to watch when soul is put into it. I loved that sequence because they show the ways those two are dancing and it's not identical. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be identical or not but Adelaide #2 now above ground is doing very methodical technical moves in ballet, and Adelaide #1 underground is doing very wild interpretive movements. I believe those watching her dance could see she was not one of them in that moment. But, that begs the question, did she never speak or yell or try to get out of that situation before then? That also takes me back to my thought that the tether is not a physical thing because it seems like once #2 goes above ground then that's that and #1 is stuck there until the uprising. I think she knew as well, which definitely makes the exposition seem way more clunky because she keeps asking "What do you want" and Red!Adelaide seems to mainly be explaining this all to her specifically, because she continuously ignores Gabe and Zora speaking. But now knowing what we know that seems absolutely pointless.

    Us *SPOILERS*

Okay I'm gonna start off now that I have more time lol. I'm 100% in love with this movie, but I still have questions that I wouldn't have had if Jordan hadn't peppered in just enough information to raise these questions. I get that they are tethered and that everything that happens underground is the result of what the people above ground are doing. However, Red Lupita says they were all created by someone and that the people above ground were just puppets to be controlled. A friend had said he heard in that monologue that it didn't work so the people above ground actually weren't controlled at all, but it still doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially after reading a couple of articles that address what I had heard (can't remember where I read one but it was titled something like "Us Removes the Idea of Free Will"). My question then is: What the fuck is happening then? I know I heard her say the people above ground were being controlled like puppets, but if their actions are actually controlled by the people below ground then 1. How can they make choices based on things they are not seeing and 2. None of their anger is really then warranted because everything is *their* doing and the above ground people don't even know it. And it's this that made me leave off a full star from my rating because I really thought this was a perfectly creepy movie with some really good comedic moments thrown in (the entire scene with Tim and Winston was slapstick comedy GOLD), but I think the story would have held up much better for me if Jordan had just left it at something like we all have a tether to a double, and that's that. No need for the couple of lines going deeper that only cause more confusion.

    Episode 209.5 - Minisode 209.5

I was 11 when that came out and remember even the trailer scaring the shit out of me. Same with the 99 "The Haunting" movie with Liam Neeson and Catherine Zeta Jones. Finally saw them both as an adult and wondered how the fuck was I ever scared??? Also wondered how I was able to see The Ring in theaters at that same time and not those two.

    Episode 209.5 - Minisode 209.5

Question: How would everyone feel if we started separate "Spoiler" threads for those of us that are dying to talk about big movies that come out? Cause I know we're all trying to be respectful of those that can't see these movies immediately, but I also know we're all wanting to really discuss some shit. I was thinking of starting two for both Captain Marvel and Us since these are the most recent to premiere, and I've already seen hints of conversations in the Trailer Talk thread. So I wanted to give everyone a free space that is marked as being okay for spoilers.

    West Side Story

Okay I was convinced I wasn't making up her age. Jane Austen does the same when stating Elizabeth's age in Pride & Prejudice. At one point Lady Catherine asks her age and she says, "I am not yet One and Twenty," so you are then led to believe she is 20 but is obviously within the year experiencing her 21st birthday.
