Musical Mondays Week 49 Meet Me in St. Louis

+1 on Mac & Cheese and also potato salad without any onions in it (just a personal texture thing). Salt Lick about half an hour South of Austin is some of the BEST I've ever had!

That's still nothing to Texas BBQ but I'm biased.

    Psycho

Haven't listened to the episode once again... still haven't listened to LotR..... but for myself even knowing the twist ending I still was shocked just by the way it was achieved in the movie. This is really well done and holds the fuck up. It's definitely also one of those movies I wish I could go back in time to see in theaters because I would love to see how people reacted to this for the first time.

Idk Tootie and Agnes would probably be delighted over some trashcan fires in NYC

Musical Mondays Week 49 Meet Me in St. Louis

I genuinely think it has a lot to do with the fact that in St. Louis they are part of the upper class, but in NYC they would be forced to live among others in a tenement and good gracious that is just unacceptable!

Musical Mondays Week 49 Meet Me in St. Louis

I know, I just mean I wasn't even talking about crime at all. It's not a big deal or anything I only wanted to clarify that I meant no matter what the view of the city is gonna be super duper awesome if you're wealthy and white in 1903 lol, and that gets a huge spotlight shined onto it with a modern knowledge of the tension within the city.

Musical Mondays Week 49 Meet Me in St. Louis

My comment was more towards Cam's comment of how he responded to them talking about how great the city is. I have no actual knowledge about any of the actual statistics but considering recent events it sheds a light on how White this movie is and how that obviously skews the vision of the city.

Musical Mondays Week 49 Meet Me in St. Louis

Oh yeah the more they kept talking about how perfect St. Louis was the more I thought "yeah because you're rich and white..."

Musical Mondays Week 49 Meet Me in St. Louis

Sorry I completely missed the discussion y'all (and I'm admittedly going to be one of those people that says they're not gonna go back through multiple pages), but Tootie was in fact the most interesting character in this whole film and it was genuinely like watching a prequel to Halloween. The next movie we see she finds a new mask and her "killing" turns a little too real. It was so wild that no one in her family ever thought to punish either her nor Agnes for the wild extremes they went to.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

Yes exactly! One of my best friends is literally head first dived in to this fandom so she could probably quote the whole trilogy extended from start to finish and has given me lessons on the series multiple times and I love her to death but all of it literally goes in one ear and then out the other lol! I almost texted her when this got announced that I was finally gonna be in for a marathon since she's been telling me she wants to rewatch them but who knows when I'll ever have time for that lol.

    Episode 198.5 - Minisode 198.5

He mentioned in a minisode last October that there was a push for QotD but he has never followed through and I'm not gonna say that I feel betrayed but my heart is broken.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

I haven't listened to the episode yet because I'm soooo behind on my podcasts (just literally listened to Apocalypse Now about two hours ago) but I'm sad that I don't get as excited for LotR as a lot of others do. The movies are beautiful and I do enjoy watching them, but after seeing them I'm like okay cool those were good movies and then I move on. Generally I'm all in with movies like these, like I mentioned in my first comment in this thread I am a die hard Harry Potter fanatic, so it's not like I'm not a fan of this genre, but I just really can't get any more into LotR other than loving the actors and loving the scenery. I wouldn't take it off of the AFI list at all even with that thought process though. I think it does absolutely deserve to be there for the cultural explosion it created and for how well they are made. It's just not the fandom I'm part of.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

Considering the shit we went through with all of the other films I consider flying dementors accurate now lol! I'm actually in the minority that I really enjoy 1 & 2 as movies. 5 is absolutely the worst of them though, not only in the complete ruin of important plot points, but the editing and flow of the movie is horrendous.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring

Prisoner of Azkaban. No doubt. Not only is it still extremely accurate to the book but it's beautifully shot and a perfect stand alone film from the rest of the series. There are obviously things that one would need to know from the previous films, but in this Harry Potter obsessed fan's opinion, it is by far the best of the films that was ever made and anyone can watch it with any amount of knowledge and still enjoy the movie wholeheartedly.

    E.T. The Extra Terrestrial

My mom said almost the exact same thing to me about the times when she was like two or three years out from being divorced. I was going to Catholic school at the time and any time she refers back to those years she says it was like she was contagious and no one ever treated her well. Society is such shit to single women and even more shit to divorced women.
  17. Polly, I'm so into the idea of a rabbit screening! I should be free this Sunday if that's when you're planning!

Episode 198 - Look Who’s Talking Too: LIVE!

I have the same baby holding list but I've added Chris Evans onto that.

    All About Eve

Just announced! Lily James posted on Instagram that she will be portraying Eve in a limited stage production of All About Eve at the Noel Coward Theater with Gillian Anderson as Margot Channing! If I could see this I absolutely 100% would. Both of these actresses are amazing and I think they would be the perfect duo to do an updated version of this story.
  21. I disagree. I listened to the episode first and then watched it later and had a blast! In my opinion, nothing they talk about could ruin the magic of seeing it.

Musical Mondays Week 48 School Daze

Oh I'm sure I'd love it but at this point with the amount of seasons it has I don't think my mind could turn off the fact that I could be spending that time elsewhere. It's why I have a hard time reading books now because I always have work to do or movies to watch for podcasts or current shows I need to catch up on or writing to do or whatever. I watched BB as it aired so it didn't feel as daunting for me, and to be honest, I haven't even started Better Call Saul yet.

    The Evil Within (2017)

Ah yes thank I was trying really hard to remember where I had heard this name before and you helped me pin point it, because I saw the ads for that game literally everywhere for 2 straight weeks I think lol.

Musical Mondays Week 48 School Daze

I get it though, cause I'm like that with The Wire. Everyone keeps talking about it and I'm probably never going to see it. Although I still think Breaking Bad is one of the greatest things ever created. On another note I think Paul did an ad for the podcast "Never Seen It" once and I have to say if y'all aren't listening to it you gotta because it's hilarious. Someone did do a Breaking Bad script having never seen it before but I think my favorite was Amy Miller writing The Shining with literally almost zero info and so she thought the whole hotel was run by kids and it's maybe one of the funniest things I've ever heard.
