Musical Mondays Week 47 Stage Fright

I think they were seen more as "the help" and really looked down upon. It seems like Meatloaf had made them interacting with the activities at the camp forbidden until that year, and even if he hadn't that snotty girl absolutely hated the fact that "the help" was even allowed to audition.

Musical Mondays Week 47 Stage Fright

In 8th grade yes, but it was just a lot of making and as far as I know no actual sexual acts but *shrugs* maybe there was some. There was definitely talk about sex and that was the era of those bracelets that were given to girls when boys wanted them to do stuff and this guy I had a big crush on gave me the sex one and told me to come back to him when I was 16 lmao. By that point we were no longer really friends so that ship never came to port LOL.

It's not as magical as they portray in the movies

This also shows how bad this movie is if none of us can agree how old these fucking characters are lol

Yeah I feel you I just disagree about who is allowed to be a counselor. When I went to camp there were fellow people my age (and under) working for the camp as like a residency program for college shit. If he's trying to be an actual stage director then he could be using this camp for a resume sorta thing to get his name out there before he heads to college (or skips college and heads to Broadway). ETA: Also in Wet Hot American Summer (obviously throwing out the joke that they are all in their 20s-30s when they filmed it) they make genuine comments that they were all 16-18.

Her situation is different because Meatloaf is basically her guardian and owns the camp so she got put to work. It's like Demi Lovato in Camp Rock (omg we should do that for MM one week lol), her mom is the head chef and is basically using her daughter as an extra set of hands.

Musical Mondays Week 47 Stage Fright

Okay we can't say that because of someone's IRL age they are meant to be in their early 20s. I am only talking character ages here. And what's her face main girl is definitely supposed to be a high schooler.

Musical Mondays Week 47 Stage Fright

So with the creepy director kid, I think since he's in the beginning "We're Gay!" song we're to assume he's like the oldest possible age you can be to go to this camp? He seems like 18 tops and the main girl looks 16 (???) Obviously still creepy af but probably not the kind of creepy that we all got from it.

    Fantasy movie league

I can create a new one. I'm literally on the site always trying to make my game better lol. ETA: New league for us! http://fantasymovieleague.com/league/29084/join?mp=dfcc53d9a218e37d66e87d3581deebdb If it asks for a password it's "bonkers"

    Fantasy movie league

I've still been very active ever since they announced it. Whoever set up the league probably left the site and I think that deletes their created leagues, but I could be wrong IDK.

God I know!!! The whole casting couch thing made me wildly uncomfortable.

Musical Mondays Week 47 Stage Fright

The camp song "We're Gay" was maybe the worst part of the whole thing. I mean not only just using Gay as a joke *eye roll* but in a musical that seems to let the actual music happen "naturally" within the story this was way too choreographed and stood out tremendously. Also, it's a fucking bad song lol.

Musical Mondays Week 47 Stage Fright

Minnie Driver sure is in a lot of musical based movies where she barely sings... Anyway this movie was disappointing to me. I think AlmostAGhost said it best on Letterboxd that a slasher movie poking fun at musical culture is a great idea but it leans way too hard into the trying to be a genuine funny musical that it loses all the charm.

    Episode 196.5 - Minisode 196.5

There's definitely a "How's Yo Dick?" track that becomes their ultimate bedroom song.

    Episode 196.5 - Minisode 196.5

Lol well I wouldn't have thought we would get into an argument about it but okay.

    Episode 196.5 - Minisode 196.5

I would be careful there because it is a thing, however it's typically a thing done by conservative outside parties not cool with how consenting adults have fun in the bedroom. This wouldn't be kinkshaming because if Katie doesn't like this then that's her decision and not shaming the dude at all. Although one would argue maybe we should shame this dude's kink cause that's crossing a line in my opinion. But everything else I agree with. Life is too short for bad sex, and this dude sounds like danger. Katie please leave him.

    Taxi Driver

How dare you sir. Dr Pepper has never had to lie it's way into anything. If anything it's the Margot Channing of cokes and the minute it ran across the stage naked at 4 years old we all knew that was THE coke.

    Taxi Driver

I completely agree! Fans of these movies (and I would put Goodfellas in here as well) make the movies themselves unbearable. I hate mentioning that I love Taxi Driver or Fight Club to any dude if I don't already know them really well because I'm afraid of who that person might be and how they might misinterpret why it is I love these movies. David Fincher himself even said he would never let any man that said his favorite movie was Fight Club anywhere near his daughter lol. But these are still excellent films, and Taxi Driver still blew my mind the first time I saw it.

    The Sixth Sense

So far I've only given All About Eve and Singin in the Rain 5 stars out of the 11 I've seen, but I've also liked all of them except The French Connection which got 3 stars from me. Everything seems to be hovering around 4 stars because I like it but recognize it's imperfections, and with Singin in the Rain I just love it too much to give it anything less.

    The Sixth Sense

So I just want to reiterate that I love this movie and think it does belong (although I would totally be willing to take it off just to deflate M Night's ego) and Toni Collette is literal perfection and she makes every movie better and maybe by the next update we can replace Sixth Sense with Hereditary because I believe that is a masterclass in horror direction and acting.

    Upcoming Episodes

On an expiring stream note: The French Connection will leave HBO at the end of the month for anyone who hasn't had the chance to see it yet.
