EPISODE 80 — Jon Gabrus Again, Our Close Friend

Right, I mean Hayes and Sean are obviously not monsters and I'm sure they were conscious of not "crossing the line," but I think it's worth asking whether a bit like this should exist in the first place.

I also couldn't watch "Nathan For You," for similar reasons. I just don't get why it's okay to involve unsuspecting strangers in comedy bits. Whatever.

From strangers? Yes, absolutely, I don't see how that's even a question.

EPISODE 80 — Jon Gabrus Again, Our Close Friend

Then why not get a comedian/improviser to play the part of the tech support person? Why involve an actual person who doesn't know she's in a comedy bit?

To put it another way, Hayes and Sean are being the Jerky Boys in this bit. Comedy is about surprises, and Jerky Boys isn't surprises

EPISODE 80 — Jon Gabrus Again, Our Close Friend

A polite prank call is still a prank call. She's at work, she's trying to get through her shift, and all of a sudden she's the butt of a comedy bit. They did this in the Shelby Fero episode too. If you've ever had to answer phones at a job you would get it. But even if you haven't, a little empathy should get you there. Also I don't see how this kind of comedy is funny. Why make innocent nobodies the butt of the joke?

Harassing service people is not cool! It doesn't matter that she rolls with it and seems unfazed, this is still in principle a shitty thing to do. Sorry, y'all know I love Hayes and Sean to the max, but no more of this please.

EPISODE 346 — That Is Wild

I'm with you but you really can't blame it all on Tom. Especially prior to the dog thing, he really didn't do anything wrong. The Wild Horses crew is certainly talented, but in this instance what they brought to the table wasn't working. The episode was a pretty abject failure, but it was not the fault of only one person.

    EPISODE 4 - Savannah, Georgia

Interesting that Paul is building a little "stock company" of players, with so many repeat guests over only 4 episodes. Marc Evan Jackson is like the Joseph Cotten to PFT's Orson Welles, or something.

EPISODE 346 — That Is Wild

I thought Tom was fine in the first segment, he was actually kind of interesting - the problem with that segment was Trabitha Tarteen didn't really do anything besides just repeat that she wanted to have sex with Scott, which isn't much of a bit. Then the therapist character was not landing either, and then Tom bizarrely derailed everything with the dog business, so this turned into - at the risk of sounding like Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons - one of the worst episodes ever. I was actually kind of in shock at how badly the whole thing went. Scott maybe could have salvaged the last segment by doing a Would You Rather, but I think he was trying to create an opportunity out of Tom's mistake, and it didn't work. Eesh. I hope this isn't symptomatic of a general downturn in the show, because to be honest I haven't loved an episode since the one with the contest winner and the PFT/Daly/Lapkus trio. Which wasn't that long ago I guess. But I feel like there have been some questionable booking decisions lately in terms of which guests can carry an episode. Hopefully we'll bounce back with some heavy hitters soon.
  11. This is the first episode of WSGLL that I would deem a masterpiece. Insane concept and beautiful, surprising execution.

Episode 79 — Mary Holland, Our Close Friend

Also I guess he think there are only two states in America? It's like, Michigan, Illinois, and then he's done? Step 1: learn how to use the letter J. Step 2: learn some basic U.S. geography.

Episode 79 — Mary Holland, Our Close Friend

Sillylillyquee, can you draw a portrait of Sean's friend Mark? Maybe you can show him recording the sound drops, maybe you can show him at his job pushing shopping carts together, it's up to you

Episode 79 — Mary Holland, Our Close Friend

Mary and the cat reminded me a little of Dave Holmes and the Noid, the most structurally perfect HH interview segment ever

Fuck fuck fuck Wild Horses is doing a show in Chicago (where I live) on the same night I have tickets to see the Sufjan Stevens show. How am I supposed to show my support for women are funny now? Do you think there will be funny women at the Sufjan Stevens show?

Episode 79 — Mary Holland, Our Close Friend

Hayes's snorting tic was out of control this week. Is there an awake version of sleep apnea?

    Happy Birthday, Hayes

I just saw this and am now obsessed with Valerie's Sean impression. Valerie, you should consider turning your Sean impression into a downloadable ringtone or something
  18. Please, no references to the other show
  19. Dear Mary, What was it like killing Hitler? Thank you for also using your time machine to read this forum comment posted too late. Also, who's Hitler?
  20. I've said this before on here but the Pete Holmes ep has my favorite Hollywood Handbook moment ever, when H+S keep yelling "yeah right" at Pete when he says he wouldn't be scared of a skellington. In particular Sean's "sorry, but that's a yeah right" is the funniest thing I've ever heard
  21. How do Hayes and Sean have so much knowledge about you guys? Do you all have barbecues with each other and stuff, only inviting the cool posters, i.e. not me?
  22. Fuck I'm so mad I didn't look at the forum and didn't know this was happening. Dammit.
  23. Loved it. Pretty much "what if PFT hosted Improv4Humans," the answer to which turns out to involve a little monologuing, a friendly chat, a continuous narrative rather than a bunch of disconnected scenes, and clean sound effects for transitions. And guests not limited to the UCB stable, thereby not beholden to "game of the scene" improv style. And I personally find Matt Besser annoying as a host so there's that too. What I'm saying is this show will be great, I'm looking forward to enjoying it every week.
  24. What did we learn today: 1. Sean is being Banksy(?) 2. Steffi used to be engaged to Dom (alias The Dom-er) 3. Movies scripts should say when the characters are getting ready to speak 4. You can build a Frankingstein to beat up guys 5. Sean gets sad when Hayes isn't there
