EPISODE 116 β€” Top Dog: LIVE!

Chuck Norris caused Columbine. It is known. I liked this episode. I was travelling yesterday and was very excited that I got to listen to it while I walked around a strange city with all my belongings because the metro wasn't working. I kept an eye out for The Clowns, of course. I loved when June walked off stage in this episode. Do not put up with this, June! We are with you! We demanded Betty the dog be credited for her heroic work in this film. She, like Dolly Parton in "Rhinestone", has strapped this god awful movie to her back and is carrying it across the finish line. If she's uncredited does that mean she wasn't eligible for awards contention? Because if that's the case, then Susan Sarandon's Oscar for "Dead Man Walking" should have an asterick by it. Just now reading the Slash film oral history and this made me laugh. Betty did a lot of shots in the movie too. She was real mellow and she was a good dog. Except the problem with Betty was that she had had puppies earlier that year. So she had this one breast that would hang down. And every time, before we shot with her, we’d have to tape it up. We had to give her a boob job every time before we did a shot! So Aaron would be looking through the camera and he’d go β€œBetty’s boob is hanging out.” And then I’d go up there and tape it up. Poor thing, she just needed some cosmetic surgery that we couldn’t afford at the time. Also like Dolly Parton... I imagine.

    Fantastic Four (2015)

The first Fantastic Four movie (which a lot of people didn't like and had an extended snowboarding scene--one of Paul's signs of bad movies) got a 27% on RT. I'm pretty impressed they managed to beat that. Will have to see it and report back. Am obsessed with comic book movies. The 4% will probably go up as more people review it. Even Pixels got some good reviews. But I think it's a pretty good indication that this movie is going to be bad. That is even lower than Catwoman and Elektra. http://www.superheronation.com/2011/08/22/rotten-tomatoes-ratings-for-superhero-movies/

    EPISODE 115.5 β€” Minisode 115.5

The thing that struck me from the moment I saw the trailer, was how much the dog does not look like a police dog. I don't want to be dog-racist but I usually picture German Shepard (the Nazis of dogs?) type dogs as police dog. This one looks like the Shaggy Dog. So I had to look it up. And it turns out Betty, the dog that played Reno (Reno is a girl, you guys!) is a breed called a Briard. IDK, I'm not into dog breeds, just dog cuteness levels. (We're in a post-breed society, you guys.) Anyway, this kind of dog CAN be used as a police dog but I read a site that says most departments don't use them because their hair is too long and take a lot of grooming. This made me really want a scene of Chuck Norris just sitting and .

    EPISODE 115.5 β€” Minisode 115.5

Wow. They should definitely do this movie too. I was hoping the bomb would blow up the kids so I didn't have to hear them sing the same lines of Row, row, row your boat over and over (it's clearly the same audio being played repeatedly).

    EPISODE 115.5 β€” Minisode 115.5

I also didn't think Jason, in particular, and Scott really wanted to do Sharknado 4. They seemed over it. I much prefer episodes where they are excited to talk about the movie, for whatever reason. So if they watch it and feel like they have a podcast in them, I will certainly listen to it. I don't want them to feel obligated though. Soo if Twitter votes "yes" to Sharknado 4 and the forums vote "no" that means the hosts are tie-breakers, right? They can do whatever they want?

    EPISODE 115.5 β€” Minisode 115.5

RIGHT?! Let's all go tweet. Oh, hmm. I guess you're a better person than me. But I want to hear about that Tyler Perry movie they made Scott watch! I'm excited for Top Dog. I remember seeing Sidekicks in the theater but I think that's the only Chuck Norris movie I've watched beginning to end. And wikipedia says this one was directed by his brother--so that's gotta mean it's quality. What was the technical difficulty? Was anyone at the live show this weekend? I want to be prepared but no spoilers.

    Battleship

Just realized the girl from this (not Rihanna, obvs) is June's sister on Grace and Frankie. Now I need an episode where the gang asks her about this. I have so many questions.

EPISODE 115 β€” Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!

Ha! I can't imagine why he didn't want to do it! Maybe next year, when Sharknado 4 comes out, HDTGM can finally do that Tyler Perry movie they made Scott watch.

    The Heat

I love this movie! Why do you think it's bad?

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995)

The best thing about this movie is some of the background drama surrounding it. The actors weren't union or something (because it's just a dumb, cheaply made kids show, right?) but then the show became super popular. So three of the actors tried to negotiate better deals once the idea of having a big budget movie was possible. Three of the actors (including the "leader" of the team) held out for better deals. ... and the company just flat out fired them and got three new rangers for the second season and the movie. That's why the ethnicity post that started this thread is not tecnically applicable to this movie. Also the Blue Ranger was named after Bryan Cranston, of Breaking Bad fame, because he did voice work on the show. This is important to know so you can picture Walter White as the giant villains. Also Mariska Hargitay was in it but replaced. Don't ask me how I know all these things; I'm not prepared to tell you.

Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD (1998)

I remember watching this on TV when it came out. My favorite bit of trivia is they asked Samuel L Jackson what he did to prepare for his role as Nick Fury and he said "I watched the David Hasselhoff NICK FURY and I decided I wasn't going to do any of that."

    Hulk (2003)

I think this would be a great movie to do! It is so BORING, yet everyone who worked on it is amazing. It boggles the mind.

    Jack Reacher (2012)

Since PFT agreed to come on as Werner Herzog, I think this might be the best one to do. I know fans of the books were really pissed about how Reacher was changed. Has Jason read this one yet?

EPISODE 115 β€” Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!

Says he played "Club Promoter". I don't remember him. Anyone see Lavalantula? I didn't, but I been Dinocano (the dinosaur volcano movie pitched in the Sharknado 1 episode) would be better.

EPISODE 115 β€” Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!

First of all, is June too good for us now? Her show gets nominated for some Emmys and she can't make time for Sharknado? I really wanted her to do more dramatic readings of Nova's lines. I'm totally bummed. Second, when they mentioned the George RR Martin cameo I was like, "Wait, wait! There's no way that was really George RR Martin! That guy is too busy! He's got a book to write before next May." But then I looked it up... and it is indeed George RR Martin. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/07/23/why-game-of-thrones-creator-george-r-r-martin-was-in-sharknado-3 I can't wait for all the ASOIAF fanboys to blame SHARKNADO for the next delay in "Winds of Winter." Unrelated to this episode, I tried to get the FAIR GAME/COBRA book and the TERRIBLE GAME (Gymkata) book from the library but they are out of print. I wanted to start a HDTGM bookclub. I'm very sad.

    EPISODE 114 β€” Runaway

The second opinions for this movie were so odd. I kind of want to go defend "whatshername's" honor. I bet she could tell us some stories about why Billy Bobson didn't make it to five months. He was more interested in Gene Simmons than her. Something creepy happened. I just know it. Call me, whatshername, I want to know the details!
  18. I feel so bad for Adam Pally that his son watches this all the time. The first TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES was like my favorite movie as a kid. My sisters and I made our father take us to see it in the theater like five times. So we were super excited about this one. It came out less than a year after the first and we thought it'd be great (had Vanilla Ice!). And it was a big letdown for us. I WAS THERE TOO (the Wolfpop podcast) recently had an episode with Josh Pais who was the voice and suit performer for Raphael in the first movie. I would love to know why he didn't do this one, though from the description of 70 lb sweat suits Paul played, I could guess. Did you guys notice that basically no one from the first movie was in this one? April O'Neil was a different actress and most of the voice cast was different, even without the sweat suits.

EPISODE 110 β€” The Island of Dr. Moreau

I dunno about him being the greatest actor of his generation. He was certainly very talented though. I bet constantly being told he was so great went to his head. It's also worth noting that one of his daughters committed suicide (she was schizophrenic) just before he was to begin filming on this. He could have been having a legit mental breakdown. Or, at the very least, be forgiven for not really having his heart in acting in this shitty, shit movie.

EPISODE 110 β€” The Island of Dr. Moreau

Yay! June is back. Boo Jason is gone. I was surprised that you guys didn't talk about the musical chairs of casting this movie. I watched the documentary last night and they said it was Brando as Moreau, Bruce Willis (!!) as the castaway, and James Woods as Moreau's assistant-dude. I was so shocked that they had gotten these actors to agree to do this movie. Because, although the documentary seems to imply that Richard Stanley was a brilliant filmmaker driven to the brink by uncaring Hollywood, I thought he seemed crazy from the jump. Then Willis dropped out (because of his divorce from Demi?) and Kilmer took his spot. But then Kilmer was also served divorce papers and wanted to spend 40% less time in the middle of nowhere. So they gave him James Woods's part and hired Rob Morrow to play the castaway. But he saw the writing on the wall and managed to get out by calling the head of the studio. Fairuza Balk also wanted out but was told she'd never work again by her reps. The documentary led me to the conclusion that Dr Joel from Northern Exposure is actually the true visionary, because he LEFT.
