    26 We Can't Dance Together

I hear you, but the difference is, we've been producing this podcast out of Horatio's basement since day one and we have no intention of stopping. We're having way too much fun.

    26 We Can't Dance Together

After careful consideration, Horatio and I decided to part ways with Earwolf. We will continue to release episodes every Wednesday on Earwolf for the time being, but we are leaving. Adam Sachs and company have been very gracious in helping us with this transition into the next phase of the show. Follow us on social media or go to HOORAYSHOW.com to stay in touch. The URL will eventually redirect to our new home. Thank You to The Greatest Fans of All Chad

I agree. Keeping it evolving is the key.

    23 Bae's Anatomy

The attention to detail that all four of them keep in this episode is remarkable. That is why they are some of the best at what they do. I love that we are starting to build a good rotation of UCB improvisers that are at the top of their game and that we can mix and match for episodes like this one. Someone commented on twitter that they thought all of our episodes should be like this one, improvfest. They're not going to be. We will give you guys episodes like this when we feel like we want an episode like this, which is going to be often. But we are also going to give you episodes that go beyond comedy, that have a point of view. The funny will always be there (hopefully).

I was really hoping no one would catch that. Glad you're not fast forwarding through the sponsor reads!

That TARDIS was given to me by my cousin a few years ago. Top 10 presents ever. First, it's way bigger on the inside. Second, it serves as my ON AIR light. I turn it on to let everyone in the room know that the tape is rolling.

This episode also has one of my favorite jokes that flies by so fast I missed it the first 10 times. I say "Buchenwald was one of the most terryfing experiences of my life" Horatio: "You should've been there when it was open" That's funny but then he follows it up with: "Anne Frank's house too, no WiFi" I didn't even catch the joke until Horatio and I were doing the final listen through. Brilliant and SO QUICK.

Correct. That was Horatio's choice. I asked him what he thought I should play under the cold open and he said the theme from Mr. Belvedere, as if he was being forced to wait on Carlos 24/7. The theme is only a minute long, and the open is about 2 and a half so I filled it with one of Scott's .... errr... Kid Cudi's tunes "Just What I Am" BTW, Carlos is in good spirits. His toe is fucked up though. He dropped a 45 lbs weight on it.

Aaron Nestor did the artwork for the show. I sent him a close up photo of the radio as inspiration.

This isn't the first time this guy has trolled the show while cumming all over I4H. To be clear, I have nothing against Matt. I think the community is better because of him in myriad ways. Now if you don't mind, I'll be over here smelling these flowers....

Dude, you either have a serious boner for Matt Besser or you're a troll, either way, this is twice now that you are trying to say one style of comedy is better than the other. Like it's some kind of competition. Which also means that you fundamentally don't get what improvisers are all about. You would be well served to learn that lesson. It's not annoyance vs ucb vs second city vs iO, it's not Del vs Bernie or Viola vs Mick, all of that is bullshit. Relax. Laugh. Get it or don't. But stop adding misery to joy and being shitty about people and comedy. You've been shitty toward me and now you've been shitty to a friend. You can criticize, but be nice and be relevant.

And with some thought, I think I know what y'all are referring to. I say: "When I was on MY USO tour" The reason I phrased it that way, is that Horatio and I both went on separate USO tours and I was trying to clarify the difference for the listener. (I try to be very aware of the listeners when we're recording, hence many of my interuptions (Frida Kaylo was married to Diego Rivera etc...). Usually I cut those out. I use them to advance the conversation... ANYWAY... Susan was busting balls on me for using the pronoun "My" when referring to the USO tour. She was implying that I was using the pronoun selfishly. As if it was the Chad Tour. She knew I wasn't. It was a joke between friends. That's all. By the way, if you are a Chicago Improviser and haven't taken a class with Susan Messing yet, you're doing it wrong.

Love it! It's our new facebook banner. Inside Baseball: We recorded the Moustache Wax ad for Episode One and didn't use it when we went with Shave Your Balls instead. As Horatio and I were listening to the episode, the light bulb went on and I said to Rog "I think I have a clean version of that ad somewhere on the computer" He said "Do it" I was scavenging through the hard drive trying to find it. Finally, I stopped and asked myself, what would Chad have done with this damn file. He probably misspelled it. Sure enough. There it was. MUSTASH.WAV Glad you liked it.

    21 SUE MESSING with Me.

Hi guys! Happy Hooray Show Wednesday! I guess I'll start by responding to what seems to be the topic. Honestly, I didn't feel that way at all. Susan and I have a healthy respect for each other and fondness for each other. I feel comfortable saying that. The thing we don't have is a great deal of experience together, and this goes for me and virtually all of our guests. As a Music Director and Writer for Second City, I have been immersed in the improv world for over 20 years, however, I wasn't on stage playing with those guys at UCB and iO when the thing was happening. You can't replicate that or replace that. I am an outsider in this world. And that's fine, because my job is to make them sound good. You also should understand something about the room. Horatio and I sit at opposite ends of your average ikea dining room table. I am surrounded by computers and audio equipment and there is a basement load-bearing pole between me and the guest sitting to my right. I am sort of isolated in a natural cubicle. The guests are always facing Rog, because that's where the conversation is. So I am behind them, out of sight, but on their headphones, so when I jump in, it's a little off putting. It is often unclear whether I am playing in the game or not. Also, I am not nearly as good of an improviser as most of our guests, and I don't make the best choices always. We're working on it. I really liked this episode a ton. Once again, I know I love my job when each new episode is my new favorite. Here's to next week. We haven't even started yet and I couldn't be more excited. Chad

    20 Kattan's in the Cradle

Thanks Nathan! That is so great to hear, and I will definitely check out your Sarah's bands. If you haven't listened already, two of the episodes that may speak to your tastes are Episode X: Trouble With Boys with David Bazan - all of the music in that show is his and really ramps the show up to me in an emotional way. And right now I am particularly fond of Cayendo. Thanks for listening, and spread the word!

    20 Kattan's in the Cradle

My brother from another mother!!!! Mine was Brown County Arena, Green Bay Wisconsin, Tesla opened. DLR's lineup for that band was Vai, Greg Bisonette and Billy Sheehan. I remember that because that was, at the time the greatest assemblage of rock musicians I had ever seen in my life. But I want to talk about Tesla. I accidentally have seen them more than any other band except for Phish (and maybe Ween). In the late 80's, Tesla opened up for EVERYONE in Wisconsin. I distinctly remember them marketing themselves as the "last t-shirt and blue jeans rock and roll band" - they rejected the makeup and glam of what everyone else was doing and I always loved that about them. And now that I look back,,, i think my PTSD is from Steve Vai's crushing guitar solo that night... and yes, I did recognize his solo stuff as well, that was my wheelhouse in the late 80s. Him, Randy Rhodes, Yngwie and Satriani were gods to me, and I was a piano player.

    19 Live Young, Die Fast

Totally misread your post the first time. HA! I will have to tell Horatio that someone said that was their favorite part. He will probably give me a big "SEE! TOLD YOU SO!"

    19 Live Young, Die Fast

Late Monday night, Horatio and I were listening to the show and we had yet to come up with the cold open and I said "Well, Alex really liked the car crash from episode 5 and since you were watching his movie in the car, why don't we do that, and then we can tie it in with the Paul Walker twitter war." Good idea right? Well... Horatio comes back down to the basement about an hour later with this youtube video of KISS and he plays the audio of it for me, and it's basically a video about two kids getting into a car accident on the way to driving to a KISS show, and Gene Simmons plays the newscaster. SOOOO.... we were going to have Gene Simmons as the newscaster announcing our deaths in the car crash, but then the whole thing was too long, too dark and I doubt anyone would have known that it was Gene Simmons doing the v/o. So THEN...... part of the video was that song that goes into the sfx of a car accident, to which Horatio said... "close the show with that, but add YOUR accident fx and then we're done" - and quite honestly, I was way too tired at that point to argue with him and say "I don't get it..." So now you know the rest of the story.

You will just have to trust, that I paid a huge karmic penalty that day. But yeah, that was amazeballs.
