    Demons (1985)

A truly fantastic film. The actors all seem to have learned their lines phonetically but compensate for it by making insane, wholly uncharismatic character choices throughout as they are torn apart by demons(?) in a nearly empty movie theater. Whether you're a person that likes a bursting pustule or someone that prefers a close up of teeth falling out, Demons has what you need. Trailer: I found it on Amazon (with the Shudder add-on) but I think it is also available on youtube.
  3. AKA "Fall Break," this slasher movie was directed by Buddy Cooper, who apparently took a screenwriting class, wrote this script, dropped out of film school, and made it. Apparently, the director and his dad were local celebrities of the town and they were able to work with local police, get extras easily, etc. A kid decides to surprise his dad for his birthday by cleaning his guns for him. He accidentally kills his mom and his dad loses it. Cut to the kid in college, drinking with friends, bored during "fall break," when his estranged father calls him to tell him he needs him to lock up the beach house/condo for winter. The beach cabin is full of hooks and fishing trophies, as well as a framed photo of a guy the dad accidentally killed. They proceed to get drunk and hang out on the beach. They are dumb and horrible and I do not care that they die. The dialog and acting are bad, in ways that range from odd to stupid and infantile. And the theme song to the movie makes it feel like a feel-good 80's teen movie. It is tonally uneven in a way that makes it creepier, but still pretty goofy. I cannot tell if the happy theme song was intended to be ironic or just a tone deaf decision. Did I mention all the characters are awful? Fun fact: the male lead later became a voice actor on Pokemon. I'm not sure which characters. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mutilator http://imdb.com/title/tt0124014/ Available to watch on Amazon Prime. It's also available on Shudder, which is a great service for both good and bad cult horror movies. Here is the trailer, which features the theme song and some great, very clever dialog ("I've got a bad feeling about this"):

    Hearts of Fire (1987)

How much more splendor can one movie contain in it's VHS box? Small town girl dreams of making it big in the music industry and finds herself enmeshed in an steamy love triangle with creepy awkward, once great, mentor (played by Nobel Prize Laureate) Bob Dylan, and current 80's superstar, Rupert Everett. One of the greatest performances by the 80's Rock Sensation Fiona....before she really hit it big. Some have said that this movie was so bad that it was what led to the director, Richard Marquand's (Return of the Jedi) untimely death. It was his last movie. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5-wWjIwiCA
  5. Did a search of the recommendations forum and can't believe this has not been suggested especially seeing as Death Spa has been done and Chopping Mall has also been suggested. Synopsis: As part of a sorority ritual, pledges and their male companions steal a trophy from a bowling alley; unbeknownst to them, it contains a devilish imp who makes their lives a living Hell. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/embed/OGKHqlVd2hk Saw this for the first time last week, think it would go down well with HDTGM would love to hear what they think of it

    Weird Science (1985)

It's Ferris Bueller meets I Dream of Genie but every character is a straight up creep. What other film can boast a car chase, a nuclear missile, a mutant ball monster, Robert Downey Jr. in shorts, and jive talkin' Anthony Micheal Hall. That's right, only Weird Science. This film seems as though it was both written and directed by a twelve year old from the 80s... oh and there's some computers and shit too. Here's the clip(sorry if the link doesn't work I'm new here, you can always copy/paste though).

    Silent Rage (1982)

"Science created him. Now Chuck Norris must destroy him. He's an indestructible man fused with powers beyond comprehension. An unstoppable terror who in one final showdown, will push Chuck Norris to his limits. And beyond" Imagine if Chuck Norris showed up to the set of "Halloween" in 1978, roundhouse kicked John Carpenter, and took over as director for the movie. This would more or less be the product that resulted. In all honesty this movie is a pretty unique blend of 80s slasher horror and your run of the mill action/kung fu movie of the day. Also there are mad scientists, a laughable love-montage, an outrageous bar fight that in no way serves the main plot, and an almost comical number of gratuitous boob shots. More people need to see this movie ASAP. (It's free on Amazon with a Shudder trial or subscription) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084684/

    Flying (1986)

Robin Crew (Olivia d'Abo) is a high school student who used to be a champion gymnast until she suffered a knee injury in the car accident which killed her father. She continues to train on her own and makes her school's gymnastics team, despite outside pressures from her step-father and the other gymnasts. Robin does, however, receive support from her mother and her new boyfriend (Keanu Reeves), as the crucial gymnastics meet approaches. This movie tries really hard to be Dirty Dancing or Flashdance and gets it all wrong in a way that is so right. Young Keanu Reeves. 80s tropes. 80s music. A bobo Tilda Swinton gymnastics coach with a mullet. Dead parents. Terrible writing. Lots and lots of things that make no sense. A highly enjoyable 90 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrabbRouYyU

    Band of the Hand (1986)

Miami Vice meets 21 Jump Street meets... Rambo!?!? So the answer to how this got made is probably: "because the 80s" but nothing brings together so many things wrong with that decade into 90 minutes as this movie. The plot summary does an admirable job of making sense of this mess: "From the creators of Miami Vice comes this action-packed film about five punks who are whipped into shape by a Vietnam vet through a new get-tough juvenile delinquency program. They take the program a step further by forming a vigilante squad to take down the city's top dope dealers." <------That is an accurate description of the plot this movie. Produced by Michael Mann at the height of the success of Miami Vice - the man could do no wrong creatively - or at least that's what the folks who greenlit this thought. Early appearances by Laurence (then Larry) Fishburne, a young James Remar (this is the film he did after leaving Aliens), Stephen Lang, and Lauren Holly in one of her first roles. This movie has everything worthy of a great HDTGM episode, just check out the clothes in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaI0Fzqj3Bc
  11. Hey guys, I don't post much but I lurk here and over at reddit a lot. I've been working on my new music video for like the last six months and I've hidden a bunch of Earwolf related easter eggs throughout it! I'd like to see if you can spot them all before r/earwolf so I can finally figure where the true Earwolf fans hang out and where all the posers are. I think this is the only way because it I can't afford buying everyone airline tickets to gather for a true no holds barred nude death match. So anyway here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be-YQmtPcik

    The Believers

This little 80's gem stars Martin Sheen as a recently widowed psychiatrist in New York City. He discovers a cult, that believes in child sacrifice, is after his son. It was written by Mark Frost, co-creator and writer of Twin Peaks, and writer of both Fantastic Four part 1&2. This movie features one of the oddest cold open's I've ever seen, in which, Sheen's wife meets a grisly dairy-based demise. In the scene, Sheen's character spills a carton of milk on the kitchen floor. His wife tells him to shower and she'll clean it up. As she cleans, her son points out that the coffee maker is going haywire. When she reaches over to turn it off, she is violently electrocuted in front of her son, while standing in a puddle of milk. That's right, milk-trocution! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgkQpPKxkoM There's also offensive racial stereotypes, mutilated cats, and sweet voodoo cult action. Robert Loggia and Jimmy Smits costar. P.S. Sorry about the lame dubbing on the clip. It's the only one on youtube. Still very funny.
  13. I know everyone thinks they have found the holy grail of HDTGM movies, but guys...seriously... "Terror at London Bridge," a 1985 NBC Movie of the Week also known as "Bridge Across Time," stars David Hasselhoff. That should be enough to convince, but wait, there's more: "Terror at London Bridge" imagines that Jack the Ripper was being chased by Police in 19th century London and fell off the London Bridge to his death. Cut to 1985 and the bridge has been dismantled--DISMANTLED--and rebuilt in Arizona as a tourist attraction. The last stone from the London Bridge has been placed and when a tourist somehow pricks her finger and falls dramatically on that last stone, it resurrects Jack the Ripper, who goes back to his old rippin' ways. The only cop who is brilliant/insane enough to actually suspect that Jack the Ripper is back from his watery grave is David Hasselhoff. It also stars someone named Stepfanie. "Terror at London Bridge" is on Amazon Prime for free, as well as Daily Motion. I feel SO strongly about this movie. I heard it mentioned on "Stuff You Should Know" and couldn't watch it soon enough. It is a gold mine.

    Raw Force (1982)

Bo-bo Charles Bronson Bo-bo Bruce Lee Bo-bo...Hitler?! Raw Force (aka Kung Fu Cannibals) is one of the craziest and most thoroughly entertaining exploitation films ever made. It concerns a group of martial artists from the "Burbank Kung Fu Club" who are taking a pleasure cruise to the mysterious Warriors Island, fabled to house the souls of dead martial artists who have lost their honor. Little do they now that a group of slave traders, lead by a man who looks like a chubby Adolf Hitler is in business with the monks of Warriors Island, selling them kidnapped women in exchange for jade. And once he finds out about their cruise's destination, he can't allow them to make it there. This movie is absolute lunacy from beginning to end. It starts out promising an adventure story, but soon turns into an action brawler when there's a Roadhouse-esque bar fight, then turns into a bizarre sex comedy for about 20mins until it segues into a jarringly brutal siege on the cruise ship by fake Hitler's cronies who look like they were rejected from 'The Warriors' movie because they couldn't all agree on a theme for their gang. Finally our main characters make it to Warriors Island for a final showdown with the Hitler gang, come cannibal monks, and an army of zombie ninja and samurai. I've never seen a true exploitation film covered on HDTGM before and it's understandable why. They're usually too easy targets, have too much boring filler between their awesome moments, and are sometimes hard to track down for viewing. But I think Raw Force is a special exception. The film at only 86 min in length is entertaining from start to finish. No boring moments. Even the filler is hilarious. There are so many bonkers moments in this movie, definitely enough to discuss for a full episode. There is dialogue and line delivery so bizarre and out-of-left-field that it breaks your brain. There are light-hearted attempts at comedy followed by scenes of brutal violence. Loads of casual racism and misogyny. And what appears to be a 16 year old kid made up to look like a balding, curly-haired, middle-aged biker (?). Seriously. Watch the trailer, track down this film, and tell the HDTGM crew how incredible it is. Trailer: https://www.youtube....h?v=ju27nZAeqjg

    Fame (1980)

Looking through the recommendations, I see many movies that are generally (and honestly) regarded as bad, films that beg for 90 minutes of "can you believe ____?!" statements. But what are we to do with a film like the original Fame? It's bad in all the right places: the acting, the script, the editing... everything. Taking shots at an obviously bad remake would be too easy. The original film, a most exceptional cinematic abortion, is ideal Bad Movie Night Material. And you would never know while you hum along to the theme song, likely the only thing you know from the movie. I submit it as a special challenge for anyone looking to go further off the beaten path for bad movies. And all these years you thought it was a bulletproof classic.

    Snake Eater (1989)

It really may be the worst movie I've ever seen. I only registered here to suggest it. I searched the forum and it seems no one else has mentioned it yet. Its a horrible 80's action mess staring Lorenzo Lamas. Everything is terrible, the acting, directing, the writing, all elements of production. Its not just a lame action flick, its a laughably awful production. Yet it managed to get TWO sequels. Its currently in full on YT so take a look. From IMDB : The Snake Eaters are an elite division of the Marines especially trained for search and destroy missions. This actioner chronicles the exploits of one of them who has become a cop. Known as a tough loner, he returns to find the band of backwoods bad-guys who killed his parents and abducted his sister. Its truly awful. Taglines: "To him, America is just another jungle." and "As dirty as Dirty Harry, as dangerous as Deliverance."
  17. When this movie is brought to mind the first thing I recall is the phrase: "I'm a Bobo not a homo". I was about 9 years old when this came out and have no idea why we watched it so much other than it was a new release on HBO at the time and movies like this were acceptable at that age. http://www.imdb.com/...8/?ref_=nv_sr_1 "Boy raised by wolves is reunited as an adult with his real family." Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnSKu-NEXXU I don't know if it's appropriate to post the link, but the full movie is on YT as well. I don't see it anywhere else (rightfully so).
  18. On paper, this movie sounds like it might be interesting: directed by Robert Altman, includes delightful actors such as Jane Curtin, Jon Cryer, Cynthia Nixon, and Paul Dooley, and even has cameos by Bob Uecker, Melvin van Peebles, Martin Mull, and Dennis Hopper. However, this mess of a movie feels like a horrible failed attempt by Altman to deconstruct the 80's teen sex romp. With absolutely no story line, and odd hijinks for a teen comedy (like doing whatever it takes to see a King Sunny Ade concert. What!? What an obscure African musician for two suburban Arizona teens to party with!), this movie amounts to no more than a series of bizarre disjointed vignettes. There are some moments that feel like an 80's teen comedy...like Altman and the writers saw something similar in another movie once...but it's clear that they had no business working within this genre and really didn't know teens. There is no honesty, heart, or humor in this film. I would love to hear a few baffled "bonker's" and "litterally's" uttered in response to this film. It really is a nightmare that should never have made it to theatres.

    Once Bitten

Once Bitten seems a shoo-in here. From the amazing soundtrack to the INSANELY creepy butler (Cleavon Little) to the super racist accent of the librarian...well, everything! This comedic vampire flick is so bad...and for HDTGM, that's bloody good. The basic plot involves an old vampire broad who, with the help of her raper-looking butler, needs to feed on a virgin thrice each year before halloween. There are a few scenes in this one that actually stood out to me as genuinely funny. Jim Carrey and his girlfriend are at a drive-in at one point (the high school fuck spot), and she refuses to give it up. He resigns and steps outside the ice-cream truck (yes, ice cream truck) in frustration. Then, we get a nice arial view of the cars surrounding them and the various sex-capades going on. Legs hanging out of windows, all the cars are bouncing, and a couple of pretty funny butt-shots. Even the title track of this one is so terrible that it's catchy. Once bitten, you won't feel no pain. Once bitten, we'll be singing in the rain... Some of my favorite lines are: "We're homos! We're rump-rangers!" "I haven't had anything this pure since the Vienna Boy's Choir hit town." "Oh, Mark...I can't believe you're going to throw away our relationship for a one-night stand with a chauffeur and a butler and a slut who eats buttons!" "How'd you like to have your crotch set on fire!" Have a look at this one, and I'm sure you'll be disappointed.

    High Spirits (1988)

Here is the trailer When Peter Plunkett's Irish castle turned hotel is about to be repossesed, he decides to spice up the attraction a bit for the 'Yanks' by having his staff pretend to haunt the castle. The trouble begins when a busload of American tourists arrive - along with some real ghosts. Among the tourists are married couple Jack and Sharon. Sharon's father holds the mortgage on Castle Plunkett, so she's hoping to debunk the ghosts. Jack, on the other hand, after meeting pretty ghost Mary, is very eager to believe. Can there be love between a human and ghost? Jack and Mary are going to try and find out. It's on YouTube

    Heavenly Bodies (1984)

The 1984 Canadian-made ripoff of Flashdance centered in the cutthroat world of Jazzercise, which ends with an honest-to-God aerobics marathon. Domestic abuse, bizarre competitions, 80's clothes, and a little somethin' for daddy. Plus, it garnered this great five-star review on Amazon: "There are so many great scenes in the film for example when Dale dances alone in her club after a fight with her beau. You see the mixed emotions of how she's feeling expressed only through her body language. It's really a nice moment." You guys would flip for this, but I think it'll be hard to track down. Krull (1983)

Imperial Stormtroopers invade a Dungeons and Dragons-themed wedding, Liam Neeson multiclasses as a Barbarian/Polygamist, men are murdered with wobbly rubber spikes, and not even the polystyrene rocks are safe. As a testament to the film's overall production philosophy, the female lead (played by a British actress) was re-dubbed by an American actress in post. The original actress didn't know this was happening until the studio informed her after the fact. Apply that level of flippancy to nearly every aspect of film making, and you might wind up with Krull. According to Wikipedia, that bastion of truth, "The film made over $16.5 million domestically, failing to bring back its reported budget of over $45–50 million. However, it has gained a cult following over the years since its release." You can watch it on Amazon Instant or even pick up the DVD that features cast and crew commentary that might make you want to open a vein. Here's . Enjoy! Or don't!
  24. Please do an episode of a movie i loved in the 80's The Last Dragon. Where the main character is called Bruce Leeroy and it has an awesome 80's soundtrack. The only caveat is you will love the movie too much to hate or will you. You can see it for free on crackle.com http://www.crackle.com/c/The_Last_Dragon/The_Last_Dragon/2460332
