  1. LIFE ON THE LINE (2016) Starring John Travolta, Kate Bosworth, Devon Sawa, Julie Benz, and Sharon Stone PLOT: The film follows a crew of high-wire workers fixing the electric grid but eventually they are hit by a deadly storm and need to survive. (Actually it's like 'Armageddon', but instead of an asteroid hitting the Earth they need to get the electricity back on!) Every movie cliche is in this movie. Every. Single. One. Parents killed in two separate accidents on the same night by John Travolta in the first five minutes? Yes! An evil electric company with a NASA control center? Yes! Sharon Stone as an abusive alcoholic mother? Yes! A needless subplot about a suicidal neighbor? Yes! A pregnant woman shot in the stomach? YES!!! Assassins (1995)

Sylvester Stallone, Antonio Banderas and Julianne Moore star in Richard Donner's convoluted action thriller which happens to be co-written by the Wachowskis! How did this pairing not work that well?
  3. This post has a soundtrack: http://www.anthonypryor.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/deathstalker.mp3 Imagine a world where magic, barbarians, amazons, and ninjas are all real. Now imagine that world populated only by porn stars and circus freaks. This is the world our film presents. It has nothing to do with Deathstalker 1, 3, or 4, nor is it any kind of sequel to Barbarian Queen, even though it uses a lot of the same footage. It doesn't even have any titans in it. With great pleasure, I submit for your consideration my favorite sword and sorcery epic/cash grab: DEATHSTALKER 2: DUEL OF THE TITANS Directed by Jim Wynorski (94 directorial credits including such classics as Dinocrock vs. Supergator, The Da Vinci Coed, and The Bare Wench Project 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) Produced by Frank K. Issac (Beastmaster, Barbarian Queen), Héctor Olivera (The Warrior and the Sorceress, Deathstalker), and Roger Fucking Corman. Please or
  4. One of my favorite bad action movies. Fred Ward is Remo Williams, trained in mystical fighting styles which allow him to walk on water. So much of this film is amazing.
  5. Brick Mansions might be the perfect "How Did This Get Made?" movie. It is the incomprehensible English language remake of one of the greatest French action movies of all times and it features a the following delightful things, Paul Walker as an undercover cop, bad dubbing, the RZA quoting Wu Tang lyrics to explain his character motivation, a plot that makes no sense but with a serious social message, a doll making giant, a girl on girl fight, and a lot of parkour in situations where walking was a valid option. It is also anti-smoking and pro-seatbelts.

    Skybound (2017)

Skybound has it all: Airplane sex, the apocalypse, a terrible soundtrack, the haves vs the have nots, Z list actors, nonsense explanations of physics, and the scene that caused me to yell at the TV- a man chops off an airplane engine while the plane is in flight, with a small fire ax!!! This movie would be so much fun for you guys to do, I would love to hear your reactions to such stupidity. The tag line says it all- “There’s nowhere to land” Skybound on IMDB

    Iceman (2014)

synopsis: An imperial guard and his three traitorous childhood friends ordered to hunt him down get accidentally buried and kept frozen in time. 400 years later passes and they are defrosted continuing the battle they left behind. Oh boy, where to begin... I immediately thought "what a field day Paul, June, & Jason would have with this movie." There are flashbacks that come out of nowhere, superhuman strength, Krishna's Penis, & crazy long streams of piss (you'll see). It came out in 3D, I didn't watch it in 3D, but I imagine it was silly. I would actually recommend this movie because it's kind of hilarious and has some great fight scenes, but you really need to see it to understand. I watched it because it has Donnie Yen (Ip man). Oh Donnie... It's on Netflix, so you don't need to buy it. HOW DID THIS GET MADEEEEE??? TELL MEEEEE! imdb: ICEMAN

    Raw Force (1982)

Bo-bo Charles Bronson Bo-bo Bruce Lee Bo-bo...Hitler?! Raw Force (aka Kung Fu Cannibals) is one of the craziest and most thoroughly entertaining exploitation films ever made. It concerns a group of martial artists from the "Burbank Kung Fu Club" who are taking a pleasure cruise to the mysterious Warriors Island, fabled to house the souls of dead martial artists who have lost their honor. Little do they now that a group of slave traders, lead by a man who looks like a chubby Adolf Hitler is in business with the monks of Warriors Island, selling them kidnapped women in exchange for jade. And once he finds out about their cruise's destination, he can't allow them to make it there. This movie is absolute lunacy from beginning to end. It starts out promising an adventure story, but soon turns into an action brawler when there's a Roadhouse-esque bar fight, then turns into a bizarre sex comedy for about 20mins until it segues into a jarringly brutal siege on the cruise ship by fake Hitler's cronies who look like they were rejected from 'The Warriors' movie because they couldn't all agree on a theme for their gang. Finally our main characters make it to Warriors Island for a final showdown with the Hitler gang, come cannibal monks, and an army of zombie ninja and samurai. I've never seen a true exploitation film covered on HDTGM before and it's understandable why. They're usually too easy targets, have too much boring filler between their awesome moments, and are sometimes hard to track down for viewing. But I think Raw Force is a special exception. The film at only 86 min in length is entertaining from start to finish. No boring moments. Even the filler is hilarious. There are so many bonkers moments in this movie, definitely enough to discuss for a full episode. There is dialogue and line delivery so bizarre and out-of-left-field that it breaks your brain. There are light-hearted attempts at comedy followed by scenes of brutal violence. Loads of casual racism and misogyny. And what appears to be a 16 year old kid made up to look like a balding, curly-haired, middle-aged biker (?). Seriously. Watch the trailer, track down this film, and tell the HDTGM crew how incredible it is. Trailer: https://www.youtube....h?v=ju27nZAeqjg
  9. Having seen this trailer with its god awful CGI and premise, this needs to be a double live show with Geostorm or Hard Rain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56whWF2NJrM
  10. The makers of "The Taking of Beverly Hills" seemed to misunderstand the "Die Hard" ripoff formula of "Blue Collar guy in enclosed environment", substituting it with "rich asshole defends wide open city of rich assholes." "Wiseguy" star Ken Wahl plays a millionaire pro quarterback who is left behind when thieves (led by Hall of Fame Badguy Robert Davi) fake a chemical spill in order to evacuate and then loot the city of Beverly Hills. Wahl teams up with good guy cop Matt "Max Headroom" Frewer, makes about 2,000 sh*tty football-related one-liners, uses his football skills to throw Molotov cocktails at the thieves, and crashes a luxury car in slow motion to the tune of Faith No More's "Epic". So, a WEE bit of a time capsule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we3m5eyFNjk

    Parker (2013)

This is a movie in which Jason Statham plays Jason Statham and does Jason Stathamy things against Bad Guys, but it sports a cast that includes Nick Nolte, 'The Shield's' Michael Chiklis, 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'The Station Agent's' Bobby Cannavale, 'The Wire's' Wendell Pierce, and Tony Award Winner Patti LuPone. It's also directed and produced by Taylor Hackford, by the guy behind 'The Devil's Advocate' and 'Ray.' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgYaiLcByRo Oh yeah, and Jennifer Lopez is a real estate agent. Fucking... what?

    Suggestion: The Matrix

I think The Matrix is the perfect film to be discussed for inclusion into The Canon. It was a major influence on the movies of the 2000's, basically designing a new blueprint for how blockbuster action sequences would be played out in the future, and its cultural impact is undeniable. The main reason I think it deserves its own episode on The Canon, however, is because it is a movie that is highly entertaining but also highly flawed, and it could be easily argued that the impact it had on the film industry was largely negative. I also know that Devin Faraci is an extreme supporter of the Wachowskis and The Matrix, and I'm very curious to see where Amy Nicholson's opinion falls in comparison to Devin's. Basically, not only does The Matrix deserve to at least be considered for The Canon, I think it would make for a very entertaining episode of The Canon.

    Stealth (2005)

How has Stealth from 2005 not been covered yet? It was made by Rob Cohen, who had done The Fast and the Furious and xXx, and it shamelessly borrows elements from the likes of Top Gun (fighter pilots), Short Circuit (struck by lightning) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (intelligent robotic being) to not that much success. Not only did it bomb big time at the box office, it brought down Josh Lucas's leading man career and almost brought Jamie Foxx and Jessica Biel's fame to new lows. Please see this!

    Lethal Weapon vs 48 Hrs.

Both are about mismatched partnerships formed by circumstance, both by established, proven directors, both are from the '80s. I think either one would be a great addition, but I got to thinking about their similarities... what do you all think? (hello, I'm the Mad Scientist and this is my first post)

    Soldier (1998)

A soldier is dumped on a waste disposal planet and lives among a community of crash survivors on the planet and takes it upon himself to defend his new home when genetic engineered soldiers are ordered to eliminate the crash survivors. "When it comes to details like plot, character development, and genuine excitement, the film is lost in space." - James Berardinelli

    San Andreas (2015)

I just saw this video of Chelsea Peretti on Late Night and seeing her hype and excitement for this movie really charmed me, especially since she was not in it and for a second really believed she was. https://youtu.be/WVTuvI5iPB0 I was thinking that this could be like the Fasts sub-series were it is an overall positive episode where the cast with Chels discuss what they loved. I have a feeling that they would totally be into it, especially with the Rock being in the mix. And it be such a treat to have Peretti back too! I haven't seen the movie at all, so don't want to condemn it nor say it's going to be good but I think this movie with this guest are basically perfect and ready to be done into an episode, especially given the crews taste in movie (mostly involving the Rock), what y'all think?
  20. Please do an episode on Biggles. It's insane, complete nonsense and thinks it's cool as shit (it's not). Logic goes to die in this movie and I'd like to hear you talk about it. Especially June, as there is a lot of flying in it. By the way the trailer makes the action look fast but in the movie it drags on and on, such as the scene where they blow up a radar dish. I grew a full beard in the time that took. Thanks, SG Ps. I think it was Peter Cushing's final film, which is a shame.

    Rumble in the Bronx

While I don't think this movie is bad in the least, it is absolutely crazy, especially the last 20 minutes or so. If you haven't seen it, do so now, it's on instant watch on Netflix and well worth your time. It's Jackie Chan at his best and there's a hoverboat chase in the end! What could be better than that?
  22. Peter_Awesome

    xXx

I searched the forums as best I could, and did not find this movie suggested. So please don't kill me if someone already did. There was Jason Statham, and before him came Sylvester Stallone. But, somewhere in the middle, Vin Diesel reigned supreme as the must-have action star. I know you guys have done Fast Five, but I think he deserves to have the rest of his work investigated. Starting with "XXX". For those unaware, he plays a criminal/extreme sports fanatic who, because he commits crimes, is recruited by the NSA to take down a Russian crime organization called Anarchy 99. This film is "great" for many reasons, my favorites being the fully Nu Metal soundtrack and how they work in extreme sports into every action scene in the film. Definitely HDTGM-worthy!
  23. All you need to do is watch the trailer to understand why this movie is ideal for HDTGM: It has the things that make 70 movies great: the ex-football player in Rosey Grier, 70s racial cliches, terrible action sequences involving cop cars and motorcycles, and the director moving up from porn. Seriously, watch this trailer and you will understand.

    Kung Fury

Ok, so this is a already-shot 1980s action comedy throwback that is currently in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign to cover post-production costs. It seems to be currently funded at the moment, so HUZZAH to them. It's about a Kung-Fu-fighting cop who goes back in time to kill Hitler but Vikings interrupt him or something. Anyway, watch the trailer because it is magical and ridiculous. http://www.kickstart...gfury/kung-fury This version of the film is only 30 minutes long, so it probably would be a poor choice for an actual episode, BUT the writer/director/star seems to be an interesting fellow (since he did get this made, at least for the most part) and has a charming Swedish accent, so I think he'd make an excellent guest on the show. The movie seems to be in the mode of Miami Connection, but on more restricted funds, so it'd be interesting to hear how such low-budget films get done and what makes things like Sharknado or Birdemic terrible but Miami Connection worth watching. Cross-promotional opportunities abound.

    RoboGeisha (2009)

This movie is a classic Japanese "WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH" kind of movie and it's brilliant. But its also awful at the same time. I hope other's will help me explain it better. I just really want to hear you three pick this movie apart. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1381512/
