  1. "A Talking Cat!?!" was just added to Netflix and it seems that it went straight there as it is dated 2013. Maybe the first straight-to-streaming-video movie ever (BTW I could not find this on the Wiki or IMDb)? Even though this might be made for a family audenice, the acting and dialouge remined me of "Troll 2." I have not seen "Mac & I", but from what I heard from the podcast, this might be just as bad. Oh, I forget to mention that the cat (a self-aclaimed human whisper) is voiced by Eric Roberts doing his best Garfield impression after an all-night bender. See it before it becomes the next cult film.
  2. AKA "Fall Break," this slasher movie was directed by Buddy Cooper, who apparently took a screenwriting class, wrote this script, dropped out of film school, and made it. Apparently, the director and his dad were local celebrities of the town and they were able to work with local police, get extras easily, etc. A kid decides to surprise his dad for his birthday by cleaning his guns for him. He accidentally kills his mom and his dad loses it. Cut to the kid in college, drinking with friends, bored during "fall break," when his estranged father calls him to tell him he needs him to lock up the beach house/condo for winter. The beach cabin is full of hooks and fishing trophies, as well as a framed photo of a guy the dad accidentally killed. They proceed to get drunk and hang out on the beach. They are dumb and horrible and I do not care that they die. The dialog and acting are bad, in ways that range from odd to stupid and infantile. And the theme song to the movie makes it feel like a feel-good 80's teen movie. It is tonally uneven in a way that makes it creepier, but still pretty goofy. I cannot tell if the happy theme song was intended to be ironic or just a tone deaf decision. Did I mention all the characters are awful? Fun fact: the male lead later became a voice actor on Pokemon. I'm not sure which characters. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mutilator http://imdb.com/title/tt0124014/ Available to watch on Amazon Prime. It's also available on Shudder, which is a great service for both good and bad cult horror movies. Here is the trailer, which features the theme song and some great, very clever dialog ("I've got a bad feeling about this"):

    The Believers

This little 80's gem stars Martin Sheen as a recently widowed psychiatrist in New York City. He discovers a cult, that believes in child sacrifice, is after his son. It was written by Mark Frost, co-creator and writer of Twin Peaks, and writer of both Fantastic Four part 1&2. This movie features one of the oddest cold open's I've ever seen, in which, Sheen's wife meets a grisly dairy-based demise. In the scene, Sheen's character spills a carton of milk on the kitchen floor. His wife tells him to shower and she'll clean it up. As she cleans, her son points out that the coffee maker is going haywire. When she reaches over to turn it off, she is violently electrocuted in front of her son, while standing in a puddle of milk. That's right, milk-trocution! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgkQpPKxkoM There's also offensive racial stereotypes, mutilated cats, and sweet voodoo cult action. Robert Loggia and Jimmy Smits costar. P.S. Sorry about the lame dubbing on the clip. It's the only one on youtube. Still very funny.
