Episode 200 — Halfway To China

Recommended Posts

The one flaw in an otherwise perfect, all-time-classic episode, is that nobody remembered that Tony was Andi Callahan's surgical assistant! Daly tried to drop a hint but it didn't stick.

I had previously thought that the two guys having the same name had just been a coincidence, but after hearing Tony in the studio I think you may be right. Especially with his affinity for uppers and the lack of a moral compass. Tony must have won that knife fight in the woods, and that's why Andi Callahan didn't make an appearance at the mass suicide in episode 148! It all makes sense now! Plus, I just now remembered that Andi Callahan first met Tony at a movie theater

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I normally don't like Zouks and Daly together. Love 'em both individually, but it's felt to me like Jason just tries to push Andy out of what Andy intended to do, and Andy, being a professional, yes ands through the entire thing. I was not excited that this was Episode 200.

But Jason kinda scaled it back and this was absolute gold. I hope Dimello finds some way to bring Cactus Tony back, because I love him.

That's what makes the pairing great. Daly is one of the few that can handle that sort of improv gauntlet. Daly's characters always go so dark and weird under pressure from zooks' questions.

Yeah, something about them not being able to make money with the characters outside of Earwolf, I think. The article's been since taken down. There's the $7.99 package of the three Cyberthug Radio shows that you can buy from the Earwolf store, though.

EDIT: Ah, the power of the Internet. Here's the article:

Wow, thanks for that interview link. That's really sad that it turned out that way, I really wish that the parties would have worked that out. It would have been to everyone's advantage to keep that podcast going, those guys are really amazing, it's a real waste for it just to be over like that. I bet it would have attracted a lot of people to Earwolf, and would also have introduced a lot of people to the CYberthug crew, I guess after that Jerry Minor and Miles didn't have the same enthusiasm to be guests on the show either. Jerry did an episode as himself and it was great too.

When I see Mantzoukas and Andy Daly on the episode description, I know some funny shit is about to go down! Great episode. Andy Daly is the king. Hail Satan!

Truly great episode 200, a worthy sequel to 148 (which is the one I always play for people to get them hooked on the show). Loved the callback to the 12 nights of Oscar. I have been burning my way through the archives and the TV show on Netflix lately so I am kind of shocked I am not dreaming of Comedy Bang Bang/Death Ray. I have to say, I was not convinced the character work would go over on TV but Daly's Demillo (just watched that one yesterday) was just as creepy and hilarious with the visual. Anyhoot, awesome supercut Tinnitus! Awesome episode Stop Tacoman and crew...here is to 200 more!

Video's up! Just watching bits and pieces, it's really funny because they're not particularly orienting things to the cameras, but there's little production things like keeping Andy off camera until Tony is introduced. It's amazing how quickly Andy can recover and answer after laughing at the ridiculous questions they're throwing at him. Also, it's very minimal, but there's a Plug Bag graphic!

I'm pretty sure episode 74 was the one where I fell in love with the Mantzoukas/Daly dynamic. The lymerics are tear inducing.

I love Jason Mantzoukas more than any hetero-identifying man has any reason to. He just brings so much joy into my life.

Wow, did I ever lose it when Andy mentions that the chocolate covered girl has no idea what's happening. Thank god I was at home, if I was on the bus I wouldn't have had a chance of suppressing that laugh.

Oddly enough, the Chip Garner episode was the only time I ever laughed so openly on the bus that someone took note and asked what I was listening to. I came close a couple times today.

Can't believe that Goddamn vampire chose my catchphrase. It doesn't get better so the only noble thing to do is assist myself out of a first floor window. Thanks, BUH-BYE!

To commemorate Comedy Bang Bang's two hundredth episode, I would like to present a 7 minute edit(or Supercut if you're in the biz) of all the instances in which our host Scotch Drinkerman or his guests mention the popular character Borat's less popular catchphrase "My Wife!"

I may have missed a few and I didn't listen to any of the only-for-purchase live episodes, sorry. I don't know if those are real and I may have imagined them.

I really hope the person who requested this hears it.(I did not request it.) If you don't like it when they do this bit on the show then maybe this isn't for you. If you DO like it when they say "My Wife!" on the show and still don't like the Supercut, then I've failed and am worthy of ridicule.

Enjoy it!

You are amazing. My favorite version of the "my wife" is when Scott just tries to slip it in in the background.

Amazing episode, I couldn't stop laughing.

That one near the end probably my favorite too. Judd Apatow is in the middle of a long diatribe but Scott (and Marissa) just HAVE to say "my wife" because it's the rules and I love it so much

Loved the ep, early contender for best of 2023. Though I feel like Scott-o-bot gets a bit more nervous or ADD when the cameras are around

Listen, far be it from me to suggest a way to improve this bon mot of a show... but Mr. Aukerman I believe you missed a golden opportunity when a la Hot Dog you could have asked for a little "Lip Lip Lip Lip BAAAALLMM"

I've never thought about it before this podcast but......................Do the M's in "M&M's" stand for "Melts in Mouth"?

It would need to be "m n' m's," a la "mac n' cheese" in order for the very possibility of the n' to stand for 'in.' (which I don't believe even in mac n' cheese the 'n' stands for 'in,' but is slang for an ampersand)

Otherwise it would probably be read as "Melts AMPERSAND Mouth," i.e. "Melts AND Mouth."

M'wife.

I don't get this whole video thing. Much like midget superhero porn, some things are just better left to the imagination.

Some of us enjoy seeing how the bread is made. (That's a saying, right?)
