The 2013 Holiday movie poll discussion

It's tough to decide which is worse: people trying hard for a horrible goal, or people not trying at all.

These Tim Allen holiday movies represent the former. The Vince Vaughn selection shows the latter.

Christmas with the Kranks is a cast trying really hard to pull off a horrible conformist message while Four Christmases/Fred Clause is the definition of not giving a fuck.

It was a tough choice but I decided to stick it to fascists and voted for Kranks.

"Blake (Hulk Hogan), is a self-made millionaire from selling bodybuilding supplements, and is mean to his workers. One day, whilst on the way to a paintball game, he is driving recklessly in his car. Chased by the police, he drives to a shopping mall and hides out inside, changing into a Santa Claus costume. He slides down a garbage chute to escape the police and bangs his head, gettingamnesia. Mistaken by Lenny (Don Stark) as the mall Santa, Blake begins to think he is Santa Claus. Meanwhile, Ebner Frost (Ed Begley, Jr.), an evil scientist, is trying to take over an orphanage in order to gain access to the magical crystals underneath it. Frost dispatches his henchmen to destroy the orphanage, and only Blake can save the orphan children." - Wikipedia

Also one of MIla Kunis's first movie appearances

The fact that THIS Jack Frost isn't in the polls:

I mean, they're practically the same movie. Both movies involve someone literally named Jack Frost, both of who die in the beginning of each movie in a snowy car crash, then are brought back to life a year later. The main character in both movies are basically neglecting their sons, except the resurrection of Jack Frost makes them appreciate what they have and become closer at the end of the movie. Oh and also, they have one more huge similarity: they're both incredibly shitty movies. The Keaton one makes less sense overall and also doesn't have a rape scene, so I would vote for that one.

On Jeff Rubin's show, Paul did say that he consider that Jack Frost to be on the same level as The Gingerdead Man as "Of Course It's Bad." Besides, Batman becomes a Horribly CGI'd snowman is just GOLD

I remember watching Christmas with the Kranks, and just feeling bad for Jamie Lee Curtis. They did everything they could to make her as unattractive as humanly possible.

Also, this movie is garbage.

I'd suggest Surviving Christmas, but we already did a Ben Affleck Christmas Crapfest. And, more importantly, we need not besmirch the memory of James Gandolfini.

Surviving Christmas is currently very low on the holiday poll, which I'm finding surprising because it was very high on most of the bad christmas movie lists I used to curate the poll
