Episode 53 — Parn's Village

Recommended Posts

Ruff episode. But it just keeps getting better. Loving that artwork too, and the character drawings thread is amazing.

Gustaf, if you keep this up, you're going to end up with a weekly paid gig to create scenario artwork and environmentals for the show. Really great work and style.

Aw shucks. Thanks! But I do this for a living and spending 1-2 hrs a week for the show isn't that big of a deal. I'm happy to do it for free! :)

This show just gets better and better...so many great moments:

  • We found your Parn stash
  • Sadly no commercials from Blaine but we did get, "Uh oh! Yeti-O's!"
  • Sark having the mothers kill the children and then throwing themselves on the fire was epic
  • I don't know why it cracked me up so much but when Brian was describing the kind of gear he likes to wear, Blaine suggested cargo jorts and then said he sounds like that guy from Simply Red
  • Love the idea of Mildred doing a mercy killing with a war hammer and Blaine's casual line, "I thought we were just gonna like...crush her head with a brick..."

Another awesome episode...I'm psyched to find out what will happen on their trip to the crystal map symbol and what they will find when they get there. Also, hoping to see them fight some necromancer possessed wolves.

"BEHOLD!"

Holy shit what an episode, that went to a darker path than expected but I love how Sark is making the Necromancer such a hateable villain.

Also I don't know if anyone mentioned it but brians roleplaying was top notch this episode, the whole "I am impressed" while everyone was outraged was a nice touch.

This was the creepiest episode yet. Sark's story telling is incredible. So the mountain they are heading to right now, had the wolf howling symbols around it? Something tells me they aren't wolves since Parn said he never saw them. Maybe it's a Yeti sanctuary

Blaine's throw away line that not everyone caught- "Hey we found your Parn stash" So subtle in the background amongst the craziness of everyone talking.

Yeah, and Ken had a few of those, too. When they were talking about "Registering Evil" he said, "at Bad Bath and Beyond" in the background and there was another one I can't think of right now, where I almost peed myself laughing. Ken's a mumbler, like me.

no lou reed... but piscapo would have been hilarious

Well done sir, that artwork is awesome! I couldn't wait to run to the boards after Brian dropped that line about adding the Crow! John Candy, what a great actor/guy. It really sucks that he went so early.

I dug the part when Brian was trying to say, "Well of course I would have been relearning my spell." Very true to life D&D PC comment. Was not surprised when Sark shut his ass down! :-)

Oh to be back in the land of Glinishmore!

But also.... dudes really? were going to give casters the shaft?

Common guys... If your going to have casters do it right....

Spell list, spells prepaired. CASTING TIME!!! Round segments. And Rounds..... two differant things.

you are correct sir. I addressed some issuse in my Topic

Not sure Sark or the cast actually read these forums and it's been ten years since I last played a caster in 2nd ed. but I'm almost sure that the casting time in the player HB is in round segments (in second a round is broken into 10 segments for casting) unless it specifically says a # of rounds.

You guys rock!

Never knew this OR used it but it makes perfect sense. Usually I'm all about rules that speed things up :) I'll roll this in to the game when we play next. Since we're trying to jam through eps to cover the holidays you won't actually hear me adopt this until around the first week of December. In fact, you'll hear the party bring it up (in a roundabout way involving memorization of spells) in the next couple eps, which is what led me to come back over here and comb the forums for the comments.

Good heads up!

I love this rule clarification. The changes happened as soon as I read the first of your posts! ;)

Great episode as always. I think I have a better idea of what the old man is doing and why the gods (or at least Bahamut) are helping our heroes. It seems like "Lifeboat" is trying to become a deity himself by abducting and replacing all females in the universe with clones that he has absolute power over. The cloned females then give birth to children that he can control.

One thing I don't get is that it seems like the destruction of the tower/spaceship (flying into the sun) would release them from his power. That's sort of what happened to Mildred when Stargoyle sucked up her soul fragment and she was released.

I think being able to read these forums is a cool source of bonus perspectives for the party :) I'm thinking of the tower like it's Cerebro, and the Necromancer is Professor X. He sent some final, large scale orders out before the tower crashed. For now his influence has been reduced to what he can narrowly focus on, and his energy spent is much higher.

But Bahamut help the crew if this dude is able to construct another 'antenna'.

A lot seemed to happen. I even almost forgot by the end to mention that Sark is making up for a perverted map he couldn't draw with a kid named porn and a village full of women named lick tuck.

I'm glad I checked this forum to help catch some jokes I've missed but I still feel there should have been more on the village name. I'm going to have to re listen to the chaotic everyone talks at the same time moment.

I really want this Kim Jung lifeboat dead, but I also want to see his character develop a bit, right now I expect when they finally meet he will shock or stun the entire party only to nefariously laugh and run to the rooftop for their final battle.

When the name of the planet was named on the map, "Venturia", it sounded like someone was Yankoviching the Red Elvises "Siberia".

Just what is missing in D&D deities...a god of PMS.
