Paul also mentioned a question somebody "Wrotes"

Can I get a time stamp on that penis? Not for me...

It was right when the first sex scene between Willis and the main girl started, right when they fall into the pool.

Oh my, I started watching this the other night.... I was ASTOUNDED at how this movie starts off. Just, beyond flabbergasted. And it really spins out of control from there. I had to stop watching (for other life errands, not because of the movie) right after the first group therapy session (I say first because I assume there are others). Holy shit, it reminded me of Mark Borchardt's Coven short film, and the group therapy session in that. Only Bordchardt's take on an eclectic therapy session was done about a million times better.

I would have also loved for Mike Shank to have been in this movie.

Sliver was a big part of my formative years. Here in the UK, we always got an "Erotic Thriller" on a Friday night on Channel 5. Usually starring Shannon Tweed, but they must have shown Sliver every 6 weeks.

Smigg... Your comment prompted me to ask you ( and any other forum members from the U.K. ) about your experience with BBFC movie ratings...

Are you often surprised when you get to see the MPAA rated theatrical versions of films you've seen on local T.V. stations or at the Cinema???

Was "Sliver" censored or cut when it aired on Channel 5???

Thank you in advance Smigg And I hope this message finds you well...

P.S.: In the late '90 early '00 Channel 2 R.C.T.V. in Venezuela aired Shannon Tweed "Erotic Thrillers" weekly, every sunday after 11 p.m. but a bill was passed in witch all national T.V. and Radio Stations had to censor various contents ( Including those weekly "Erotic Thriller" airings ) and also Channel 2 was shut down by Chavez shortly after that...

Are you sure this is an erotric movie? I'm 44 mins in so far and haven't seen even a hint of a titty.

For me this movie was mostly just boring, nothing really crazy or even notable really happens until the tweest, and even that is kinda meh. Characters are more annoying than anything, and overall I'd say this movie is like shit Friday the 13th part 5 mixed with shit Sleepaway Camp, mixed with shit.

I think the most bonkers aspect of this thing is its view of mental illness and therapy, honestly. It's like if you asked a 13-year-old whose most in-depth experience with psychiatry is reruns of 'Fraiser' to write group therapy scenes, this is what you would get.

You insult a tremendous TV show, sir. Frasier's view on therapy was never as fucked as this.

The shit in this movie makes no sense, what kind of therapist IS Bakula's character, exactly? All of these people in the room have such radically differing afflictions that its impossible to string together any common thread amongst them that would indicate what Bakula was treating them for as a group. Its not like couples therapy where several married people with relationship problems have a session together... or a phobia's group or something. There is no shared experience with any of these guys, just a bunch of people with random afflictions being forced into a room with a therapist that doesn't really seem to care.

I agree wholeheartedly, and let me assure you, my comment was in no way meant to cast aspersions on the quality of 'Fraiser,' merely on how a particularly dull and boner-obsessed 13-year-old (a frightening prospect in itself) might think of therapy after watching one or two episodes.

Well, we had a really weird experience with Die Hard With A Vengeance. They released the movie over here, but they didn't tell us that it was heavily edited. They just released it. And because I'm such a Die Hard fan boy, I'd seen it a shitload of times. One night, BBC One showed Die Hard with a Vengeance, and it was somehow different.

For example, when they commandeer the car with the cell phone, and they say "Who was the 21st president?" I'm used to hearing the guy say "Go take a hike!" However, on BBC, he shouts back "Go fuck yourself!" I don't know why they did that, but I think the Blu Ray is now the real version.

But, we're pretty liberal with letting things go on over here, we have a TV channel called "Babestation". I'll tell you the premise of Babestation. Girl with her tits out, playing with them... that's about it really. Our movie channels are encrypted, so you put a PIN number in, and you can watch it. So we have 18 rated films on, during the day, but they're behind a PIN. On network TV, we have the 9pm watershed, so when it's after 9, we get the language, the violence, the sex etc. So "Sliver" was shown unedited, in it's entirity, the only edits they made was putting in cuts to allow for adverts, but as far as the sex, it was all in there.

Thank you very much Smigg for answering my questions...

To my knowledge during the filming and post-production process the teams behind some R rated movies take the time to shoot/edit A, B and C versions of some scenes so when the film airs on airplanes or national T.V. the content is suitable for young audiences. I have also read that Blockbuster video was very strict and didn't display/rent out movies that included unrated/un-cut/NC-17 versions of the film... Everything above the R Rating was not available in their stores.

Personally I experienced this when I saw "The Hangover" (2009) in a movie theater in Venezuela... The scene where Mr. Chow jumps out of the car trunk was different, he was wearing Tighty Whities in the version that was shown down here... Also at the end credits with the photo montage the photos where a lady gives oral sex to Alan are pixelated... I.M.H.O. To 2 censor those scenes was pointless but what made all of that even more pointless was the fact that "The Hangover: Part II" (2011) and "The Hangover: Part III (2013)" were unaltered when shown In Venezuelan theaters...

No worries, glad I could help

What's happening now is some of ours are getting changed, not for censorship reasons, but to grab a wider audience. Like the new Die Hard movie. That was in the cinema with a 12a rating, meaning little kids could go to see it if they were with an adult. However, when the DVD came out, it was the "Harder Extended Version". So they can have more people going into the cinema, and then get the resale on the DVD, and the 12a version wasn't released on DVD at all.

Holy shit! Ok just so everyone knows I remember this movie coming out right around when I was 14 or 15 years old. Bonkers is too soft a word for this movie. I haven't seen it recently but it does really stand out because of the masturbatory fantasy that is Jane March. Just going back over in my head I definitely remember seeing the tip of Bruce's dick. This movie has some severe plot issues and even more WTF moments to count. Can't wait til it's posted. Keep up the good work guys.

Blockbuster is relatively relaxed, but it's walmart that's the biggest censoring obstacle for movies (and music). I don't know if this happened where you live but here (in the USA) about ten years ago there was a trend of releasing UNRATED (too hot for theaters!) dvds for movies that were mostly pg-13 but sometimes R rated ones got it too. It was typically 'raunchy' comedies like the later American Pies, and the stuff that was added in were more nude scenes (tits and ass) that would of passed in the 80's. I don't think there's been very much in the way of violence for unrated cuts, because sex is the biggest bugbear for our moral guardians (Rob Zombie's Halloween and the Saw series are the only ones I could think of, but then they might have tits too, i dunno I hate both of them).

I think tvtropes does a better job of explaining it http://tvtropes.org/.../UnratedEdition

It is funny to me that this movie is right after Jason's great riff about finding porn in the woods from the live No Holds Barred show. This came out in 94. I was 17 at the time, and my brother and I went to see this movie solely based on the fact that it was a borderline porno. Something like this was a major event for those under 18 pre-internet. From the mini episode and the posts here, I am guessing that is why just about everyone saw this movie.

I've been hearing forest porn coming up a lot lately, and it's been talked about in the last two episodes of "Go Bayside!" as well. Maybe it stemmed from the "No Holds Barred" episode here, but I'd really like to think that we're just in the middle of seeing a full-blown forest porn revival.

I never heard of forest porn before Jason mentioned it, then I also heard it on Go Bayside and it's so strange! I went from never hearing of it to hearing it three times in a few weeks.

It was an Illinois thing as well! I haven't gone through forests looking for porn since the early 90s, but I imagine that the internet has killed another once-thriving industry :(
