Episode 33 — Anders Holm, Our Close Friend

Recommended Posts

I see showshowbro is a member of the PF swole patrol-- fuckin nice bro me too

MBOP I read your post on my lunch break here at The Man Incorporated and while I initially felt a bit hesitant to loff (really questioning issues of consent on behalf of the cat) I decided to just throw caution to the wind and be the depraved individual I'm meant to be and just loff my fuckin head off. My boss was all "whatcha laughin at" and I was like "oh! Uhhh my... My mom... My mom is ahh... She... She told me funny stuff that I read right now in this email". *Boss hovers over computer and then I feel compelled to continue the lie and pull up emails from my mom, none of which are funny but since they're in Swedish my boss doesn't know and it all kinda worked out but man was I sweatin b/c I don't want ppl I know irl to know I'm kinda fucked in the head*

...Yeah, your boss would really think less of you if you were like "oh, it's just my new internet friends from this forum I post on." Which, to be honest, has never been a phrase associated with cool people or being awesome. That's why I tell no one about this forum or podcast. Which is probably not the best thing for Sean and Hayes, but still... My vanity is more important than their careers damnit.

Hey guys I called my mom today and she was at a graduation party for a family friend and said she'd call me back and never did. How do I cope with my crippling rejection???

BTW we talk like 4 times a week and it's probably been AT LEAST two days since we last talked??? Does she hate me now???

I don't mean to brag Tim but I still live with my mom. So yeah its pretty awesome.

A guy I met recently said he listened to comedy podcasts. Which one? Smodcast. Then he quoted a super funny interaction between Kevin Smith and a fan: "the fan asks 'if half of your body was a sausage, would it be the top half or the bottom half?' And Kevin Smith says 'that's the best question I've ever been asked.'" Dude starts cracking up.

And he'd never heard of PFT. Never again. Never again.

I had the same experience with a girl in a class of mine. I got all excited when I heard she liked comedy podcasts. Smodcast. "Oh, cool. Yeah I've heard of it. Yeah, I'll give it a listen." It's very, very hard to explain Hollywood Handbook to people like this.

I like Harmontown sometimes, and I made a large group of people listen to Rob Schrab tell a story about his butthole one time. It went down well, which I was pleased with.

Can we just talk more about how hard it is to have good taste? Like I went to dinner the other night and one of the guys I was with got red wine with white clam sauce pasta... I mean seriously?

Another time we had a formal lunch event, and then a formal dinner event the same day. I was like "OK what time should I go back to my hotel room to change my suit?" and they were like <blank stares>. I'm like "You're not seriously planning on wearing a dark suit to a lunch event, or a light suit to a dinner event, right?" jfc smh

I have a slight problem in that I really want to suggest The F Plus to people when podcast discussions come up, but some of their real bread and butter content is often based in bizarre, awful sexual fetish stuff. So that person might not actually check out the episodes, just see the titles & descriptions, then think I'm a freakazoid. Those puritan jerks

I listened to a couple of episodes of that back when they were in the Earwolf Challenge but I found it confusing because there was so many dudes with similar voices, and the audio quality was distracting too. Guess I'll give it another go.

Guys I totally forgot that I had some questions I need to ask Freja that might be super inappropriate to ask on Facebook.... Are Swedish Fish actually Swedish also why does Finland hate Sweden so much?

Yes, Swedish fish are Swedish. And there's plenty more flavors besides the red ones, btw.

I don't know that Finland fundamentally hates Sweden but they've def got a lot of xenophobic vibes going on over there and they don't just extend to Swedes. But there are exceptions to the rule-- fun fact, my grandma was born and raised in Finland in a time where a large swath of the population was starving to death. She got a refugee status of sorts and was hauled off to Sweden, escorted by a group of Swedish soldiers (yes, they did and still do exist). One of those soldiers laid the mack down HARD on my grandma and she was like alright I guess I'll marry you and learn the language and then they had my mom and then she had me (eventually). It's been very weird to visit Finland with my fam because all I ever heard about that place was how awful and terrible everything was and how all there was to eat were potatoes and leeks and then I got there and was like "THIS PLACE FRIGGIN RULES CAN I PLEASE STAY THX". I don't know if you know anything about Finland's rapid socioeconomic growth/technological advancement/best education system in the world but it's really fascinating because seriously that place was a shithole a few decades ago and now it's crushing every top-10 list of "You'll Never Guess Which Country is the Coolest" on Buzzfeed and Upworthy. I don't think I answered your question too well but I'm not a big Finland expert. I think the last time I went there was in '09 and it was wayyyyyyy up north above the arctic circle where there are no people so it barely even counts?

It's "Friggin", as in "I make so much friggin money" or "all the chicks are friggin all over me".

Thanks for the answer, I love learning about places I've never been. I was just curious because my sister just got her PhD in applied mathematics and he one adviser was from Finland. He's literally the smartest person I ever met, with all the math stuff and being able to speak 6 languages fluently. I also met his daughter who goes to college where my sister was and she was so damn pretty and smart too, but both of them seemed to have a dislike of Sweden. Making jokes and what not. I was curious if it was a mutual thing like between us and Canada.

Side note: I'd love to visit Scandinavia one day, it looks lovely and I like cold weather. Plus I've had a fascination with Nordic mythology since I was little, which I know is a little weird.

Then speak on that.
