Herself 107 Posted October 21, 2015 Nothing to do with the movie, but I was just watching this week's Drunk History and while the commercials were playing I heard Jason. He's doing a voiceover for Totino's pizza rolls! Â Either that or I'm obsessed and hearing voices. Which isn't entirely impossible. Share this post Link to post

He's doing a voiceover for Totino's pizza rolls! Yeah, I hear that commercial on Hulu all the time. I feel sorry for Jason having to read that terrible, terrible copy. Â I enjoyed reading everyone's posts but I myself have nothing to contribute because I didn't watch this week and I'm deciding to skip this one indefinitely. Â Is it Wednesday yet? Can I just goof around yet? Â Also, I'm currently catching up on DLM (I was a couple weeks behind), and I'm on the one with Garfunkel and Oates + PFT as Werner Herzog. He has a really great Stellar Skateboard callback (is it a callback when it's from a different podcast?) that almost made me fall off my bike. 4 Share this post Link to post
taylor anne photo 11311 Posted October 21, 2015 LET'S! GET! WEIRD! Â I was gonna swing by and mention the Stellar Skateboard when that episode aired last week but I didn't want to spoil that surprise because it definitely made me pause because I was laughing so hard. I think it's even better when Paul has to take the mic away because he gets the giggles and you can still hear him in the background. 4 Share this post Link to post

I went a bit out of order and listened to that one right after the Jon Hamm episode from last month. And I'm glad I did. Those were two of the best episodes. It's almost criminal that Jon Hamm is as funny as he is. 2 Share this post Link to post

I wish I wasn't too cheap to get the tournament of champions episodes because I would love to hear him and Samm Levine be super serious about the games all the time lol. Â Ugh...FINALLY!!!! Anyone have any theories about the new Star Wars movie? I have a pretty good one, and I really want to get it down somewhere so I can brag to everyone I meet that I called it in advance, but I don't want to accidentally spoil it if I'm right... 3 Share this post Link to post

I have my tickets for the night of the 17th! So pumped. Â My only theory is that Kylo Ren "isn't Sith" (as Abrams keeps saying) in the same way that Cumberbatch "wasn't Khan." Â Also, happy Back to the Future Day to everyone! I'm going to see BTTF 2 tonight at Alamo Drafthouse (a local theater/eatery/beer place in Austin that's starting to spread across the country), and it comes with a pint glass designed by Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen). Â I looked for a gif of this but couldn't find it (and am not at home where I could make it myself), so just have a stupid static image of aerobics ladies waving at Marty McFly: Â 3 Share this post Link to post

FisterRoboto 7499 Posted October 21, 2015 UM I HAD NO IDEA THAT THE DRAFTHOUSE WAS DOING THIS AND NOW I MUST GO TONIGHT! Â That theater is probably my absolute favorite. It's basically my second home. I live about a mile from the one that they're trying to use as their flagship here in Austin, and about three miles from the downtown one (which is the one that has the 70mm projector and thus where I'll be seeing Hateful 8 in December). I tried to get a job there to do their marketing, but they never called me back. And I might have drunkenly yelled at Tim League (Alamo founder) about it at Fantastic Fest this year. But he was drunk, too, so he might not remember. 1 Share this post Link to post
Cameron H. 23786 Posted October 21, 2015 I have my tickets for the night of the 17th! So pumped. Â My only theory is that Kylo Ren "isn't Sith" (as Abrams keeps saying) in the same way that Cumberbatch "wasn't Khan." Â I don't know, I actually believe that one. Of course, I'm probably wrong, but I'm hoping they'll expand the universe and take it in a new direction. But there are certain tropes that all the Star Wars movies tend to share, and I think that my theory falls in line with what has come before. And, to be fair, I have been actively trying to avoid learning too much about the movie as I want to be surprised when the movie hits, I have not read any of the "new" canon material, and I'm 100% sure someone has already proposed this theory, but based on unintentional cultural osmosis I think that... Finn is Han's son with Sana Solo. Â Obviously there is a lot of speculation as to how these new characters relate to the original characters, but I haven't heard anyone else make this guess. I mean, why introduce the character of Sana in the, now canon, Marvel comics world if it wasn't leading to something? Â Â Yeah, I know that isn't ground breaking or anything, just something that occurred to me while watching the trailers. And if I am right, I am 100% on board for it. Â Also, happy Back to the Future Day to everyone! . Â To you as well! Â This will be in no way a controversial statement, but I just finished re-watching the BTTF trilogy the other day, and I have to say, the first movie has to have one of the best Third Acts in film history. The way it escalates fluidly from one obstacle to the next is damn masterful. As I was watching it, I thought to myself, it's almost like a starter pistol goes off as soon as Marty pulls into the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and the movie just races to the finish--in the best possible way. 3 Share this post Link to post
firsttimecallerlongtimelistenr 3590 Posted October 21, 2015 just back from BTTF2 ... its so good. also, thought this was a nice touch from my local cinema   SPOILERS!!!!!  3 Share this post Link to post

Very true. Whenever I think of the first movie, I always think of the stuff that happens in the third act because SO MUCH happens then. Then I'll sit down and watch it and go, "Oh yeah, there's still so much other movie before all of that!" 1 Share this post Link to post
Cameron H. 23786 Posted October 21, 2015 Â If the Force exists, and it is the power behind all things good and just, then I hope against hope that all the trailers we've seen thus far have just been red herrings and the new Star Wars movies will be straight up musicals. taylor anne photo 11311 Posted October 21, 2015 Just found out that my drafthouse isn't doing the BTTF2 screening until Friday AND WTF IS THE POINT THEN!? Â They are doing something at another theater but it's farther and I don't think I could make it... Â 1 Share this post Link to post

Cameron H. 23786 Posted October 21, 2015 Extensive rehearsal will be required  I also happen to know this fantastic Ortolan jizz player who could do the music!   And the best part is he hasn't had a hit in about thirty years, so we can probably get him pretty cheap.  (Fun fact: "Lapti Nek," the song Max Rebo's Band plays on Jabba's barge, translates from Huttese to "Work it Out" which makes this post 100% relevant to this thread. I promise this was not a fact I knew until about two minutes ago. Please don't beat me up and take my lunch money.) 2 Share this post Link to post
FernandoAndrade 0 Posted October 21, 2015 Some years ago there was this weird dance video that feature a creepy dude THRUSTING IT along with some chicks at a gym. I had no idea it was an homage to this movie. There's actually someone who thinks this movie deserves to be a pop culture reference? Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rQxa3Agt00 Â The song's cool, though. Share this post Link to post
