Episode 131.5 - Minisode 131.5

Recommended Posts

I think it could work for Hawkeye if they want to make it a bit more like the comics where in he loses his family to some attack due to a mole in the organization. Now he's down and out, living in a crap rent-controlled apartment in New York, and dealing with these Russian mobsters. It would also work because it could allow him to be in either the Thunderbolts or the Defenders, both of which he has either been a part of or led. Though I will say I hope it is the Fraction run and not the most current Jeff Lemire run because I just don't know yet if I like this jumping back and forth in time and now the Hawkeyes are facing off with A.I.M. which is a big leap from street thugs.

As for spoilers, I hate when they put something huge in the title of the article, but hate it more when it's just interspersed inside the article with no warning. I was reading a review of the last M. Night movie The Visit and thought it sounded pretty decent to see, that is until the fucking twist was given out RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REVIEW! What was worse was that the twist sounded pretty decent in an old school Tales From the Crypt way.

This is kind of reminding me about a discussion I had with a friend of mine about wanting to write a espionage version of an Avengers type movie with non "super powered" Marvel characters Like Black Widow and Hawkeye and the like. I even came up with an obscure character as the villain.

I hope Jon Gabrus is the guest for the Bloodsport show, he loves the movie and did an entire episode on his Podcast with his buddies last year.

He is also well aware of all the stuff Frank Dux made up about the Kumite.

Oh boy this would be amazing. However, Paul's instagram has got a clip of the show and it looks like it's Nicole Byer is the guest. I'm sure it'll be great, but fingers crossed for a Gabrus appearance one of these days. He would be an excellent choice for basically any goodbad 80s/90s action flick. I know Paul has mentioned Running Man as being on his shortlist, can we start a campaign for Gabrus to be the guest on that?

Also, from the Bloodsport insights to the Sleepaway Camp family tree to the Punisher discussion and everything in between, I'm pretty sure this is the most enjoyable mini-ep thread I've ever read. Great job, everyone!

Ummm...guys.

Someone made a mini version of The Room mashed up with Hamilton. I'm still not sure if this is brilliant or utterly stupid, but I kind of love it.

I'm kind of torn by this...

It kind of just reinforces why I've made the conscious decision to stop talking about Hamilton so much. It's become so culturally pervasive at this point that I feel like it's about to reach its saturation point--if it hasn't already. I just don't want to become another reason or excuse for someone not to listen to it, when I really feel like everyone should.

So, as my final word on the matter, if anyone is still out there and hasn't listened to the Hamilton soundtrack and your only exposure to it is the endless spoofs, please don't let that color your opinion or deter you from taking a listen. It's absolutely worth it.

Also, I'm just a little over halfway through listening to the Alexander Hamilton Biography that inspired the musical, and if you have any interest in History, or just fascinating people in general, I highly recommend it.

But, from now on, (in regard to Hamilton), I'm going to have to take Aaron Burr's advice...

But thank you, for posting the video, Fister. I do think it's funny. I just wanted to get that off my chest.

I'm on the fifth episode of Daredevil and am laughing at the scene where Elektra and Matt Murdock are in the boxing gym after hours where she tries to kick him in the head to see if he's faking about being blind. I just imagine the idea of Elektra hoping to catch Matt as either not blind or has prior training, but he really is blind so she knocks him unconscious. Talk about the worst date ever.

Also as far as Elektra, I don't know how I feel about her yet, since I don't much about her personality-wise outside of the recent Thunderbolts series and her appearances in the Punisher. In this she comes off as a thrill killer who gets off on the violence, but that may just be because it's a flashback. The accent doesn't bother me so much as she is played as a world traveler with no real place to call home. Yet when compared to Bernthal's Punisher, it does come off as a slightly weaker performance.

(P.S. I can't say I'm not a little disappointed that the current mini-episode conversation is about diverted. For the record, I'm on episode 9 of Daredevil. I guess we'll pick this up in a week or so. I'm still getting used to the show coming earlier than I expect it to. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It just throws me off.)

It's a little bit of both.

I've heard people talking about it, and that it's a musical, I just don't know much about it other than that.

Also, Sorry, my comment did seem a little mean now that I think about it. considering it came RIGHT after you said you didn't want to talk about it anymore. haha!

Sorry.

No apologies necessary! I realize I didn't "like" your comment, which may have made it seem like I didn't take it as good-naturedly as I was sure you intended. Trust me, I had a good chuckle when I read it. In a nut shell, it's about the heroic rise and tragic fall of Alexander Hamilton, the First Secretary of Treasury. As SuperNintendo alluded, it is pretty historically based, but it's not just History porn. In fact, you don't need to know much about that period to like it--I certainly didn't. Although it has inspired in me a crazy desire to learn as much about that period of time as I can--much to the chagrin of those around me.

TaylorAnne and I went on and on a few weeks back about our mutual love for it, but I was beginning to feel like my enthusiasm might have been doing more harm than good. What I can say, if you're interested, is you can listen to the whole thing for free

! Although, I will say, if you find you like it, I would urge you to get the album since many of the songs flow into one another in such a wonderful way. There are call backs and repeated themes that I feel like you could miss if you have to wait for each song to load.
