Episode 237 - Skin Cockroaches with Jenny Owen Youngs

Recommended Posts

Singer-songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs performs on an improv4humans with Matt Besser music episode, featuring Tim Meadows, Eugene Cordero and Katie Dippold. Her songs inspire scenes about a detailed plan on stealing vinyl from a music store and dealing with a bad case of skin cockroaches. Also, we learn the real story behind Banksy. Buy Jenny's music at jennyowenyoungs.com. Sign up for Seeso.com to watch Besser’s stand-up special “Besser Breaks the Record” and “The UCB Show,” which were filmed live in UCBLA.

Awesome!

maaarshall asks for more women, gets Pam Murphy one week later.

Can I put in a request for Tim Meadows? I miss him so much on the show.

I asked, and I received. Thanks, Besser and Meadows!

Wow, what a great lineup! Katie is a personal favorite, Tim's always so unique and I was just noticing a few weeks ago that I hadn't heard Eugene in awhile. And Jenny Owen Youngs is a great songwriter, been a fan for a few years. Very excited to hear this one

Loved all the callbacks/connections in this one. They all felt pretty natural, which gave the ep a very authentic "shared universe" feel -- reminded me of the Deranged Penguin trio of episodes from a little while back.

His stifled off-mic laugh kills me every time.

Her voice was super on point in those tunes.

I almost got a Bright Eyes vibe from some of her flourishes

Wow she has a fantastic voice, looking forward to listening to the rest of this

Agreed. I'll be listening through some of her albums after the episode is over for sure. Thanks for the introduction, Matty B!

This is the longest I've ever taken to get around to listening to an I4H, but it was worth the wait. J.O.Y. was great, and major props to (presumably) Brett, because the sound quality on her performances was incredible.
