Episode 154.5 - Minisode 154.5

Recommended Posts

I individually added up all 150 HDTGM movie lengths and it comes out to:

15,507 minutes

or

258.45 hours

or

10.76875 days

So after watching Airborne, Paul, June and Jason have spent the equivalent of a week and a half of their lives watching these films.

I skimped out of a few of the more miserable ones but I watched most of them and I never even stopped to think about why we do this to ourselves :D

i've been keeping track of this stuff ... when you add up all the movies + minis + eps it comes up to 29705 mins or 495 hours or a massive 20.6 days of HDTGM goodness .. we could hit the 500 hour mark with episode with ep 156!

Man I wish I'd known about that amazing spreadsheet before i checked 150 goddamn wikipedia pages.

You gotta nsfw that link though cause that is some serious OCD porn right there. It's beautiful. The Rain Man inside all of us thanks you.

Most fascinating thing is the size of the total profit margin in that data. Even if you take away critically and commercially successful films like the 3 Fast and Furious movies it's still huge. I mean there are alot of bombs on that list and critically these are at the bottom of the barrel but they still made $7.3 billion in profit. Such a strange industry where you can fail so much and still break a profit most of the time. Imagine if Volkswagen sold cars that failed half the time and still made a profit. Oh wait.

One thing to keep in mind is that those are usually only production budgets and don't include any of the marketing costs. Mid-size films can easily run up to $40 these days, and blockbusters run north of $100M all the time (and that's just for domestic; international marketing can double that cost easily). Those costs have definitely ballooned over the last 15+ years. For example, in the 1980s, it cost on average about $4M to market a movie.

But if we look at, say, Green Lantern, it looks like that movie made almost $20M, but it cost just under $100M to market, so we're actually looking at roughly an $80M loss.

Sugar Free Red Bull is my jam. It has a tiny can [if you get the standard 8oz size]. Yes, Hard Cider is a great drag name, and maybe my favorite alcoholic beverage; as long as it's not too sugary. Hornsby's is probably my favorite. Mandy Patinkin's character's name was Inigo Montoya and he was A Spaniard, I don't think he was ever referred to as THE Spaniard. 24PPizza, I've gotten huffy with people in here more than once. It's something I'm working on. My tendency is to lash out and immediately regret it. We've all got our stuff.

I live in Australia and I can confirm that there are in fact no schools here and we pretty much live like the people In Mad Max: Fury Road.

Why invest in schools when dingoes eat babies anyway.

So...all this time people have been calling me "pretty boy" they meant it as an insult?

Maybe you're a parrot.

I think it was less of an insult and more just plain patronizing.

Yes, you're such a pretty boy.....

I don't think so...I'm just hanging here with my wife, Blind Pew. I mean, yeah, she has an eye patch, peg leg, and a bad case of...scurvy?

Um...Look guys, I'm having a bit of an existential crisis right now. Forgive me, but I think I'm gonna have to molt--I mean, bolt! BOLT!

Why, because it's made of facehugger blood?*

I messed up my ankle last year in a bike accident, and when I went to the urgent care clinic, they took my vitals, and the nurse was like, "Your BP is a pretty high. Have you heard that before?"

I said that I hadn't been to the doctor in years, and they asked a few other questions. One was how much caffeine I drank.

At the time, I was drinking 2 16-oz cups of coffee every morning and a SF Red Bull every afternoon.

They were like, "Yeah...so that's not good."

Incidentally, the "zero calorie" Red Bull tastes AWFUL! I spend the five calories on the Sugar Free. It's a once-in-a-while thing, because of how expensive it is.

Holy shit. Okay I'm not drinking that much caffeine, but I do like to have an 8oz SF RB almost every mid-morning... Weekends excluded.

Damn I really need to cut that shit out lol.

Anyone have any good Four Loco stories?

No, but Kulap has mentioned it on Who Charted? I looked it up, and couldn't find any reference to it containing caffeine. Was it one of those caffeine-and-alcohol drinks like Sparks was before the FDA banned such drinks?

Nevermind. I looked it up again and yeah, it was an "energy beer."

Yeah, pretty much. It tasted like a stomach acid/jet fuel blend with a jolly rancher garnish. Like, I've been sloppy drunk, but Four Loco gets you dirty drunk. The perk, though, was you wouldn't really have a hangover the next day. My wife and I never got too crazy, mainly we played drinking games to

, but my ex-boss told me of a time when he was with his wife, his friend, and his friend's wife were all drinking and how he and his friend started wrestling in the living room. Furniture got overturned. Chips and salsa ground into the carpet--the whole nine. Anyway, he wakes up the next morning, and he's like, "Gee, honey, last night was really crazy. I'm sorry for the mess. I'll clean it up." And she says, "Don't worry about. After you two finished trashing the house, you guys pulled out the vacuum cleaner and cleaned everything up." He had no memory of ever doing this.

Four Loko is still made, they had to take the caffeine out because it was fun and won't someone think of the poor children!?. There was a brief indignant moral panic over it, as though the caffeine is the real problem with binge drinking. Vile stuff, although two cans would get you LIT (12% alcohol, almost as strong as wine).

Paul posted this on his Instagram and I can't stop watching. You may need to pack a lunch for this journey.
