Absurd plot - Patrick Swayze is basically the Domenic Toretto of big-rig driving, forced to drive a semi to save his family.

Meatloaf playing a religious zealot / gun smuggler yelling biblical quotes at Patrick Swayze during a semi chase.

Randy Travis attempting to act.

Possibly the worst acting of Patrick Swayze's career.

Watching this movie evolve from 'semi'-believable to a hot mess is only bested by what could possibly be the best/most absurd/biggest payoff of an ending ever...

I keep thinking about the scene where Randy Travis is trying to intentionally sing badly, and I remember thinking to myself that it really wasnt too far off from how he actually sings.

Oh my god, yes. I don't remember much about the movie except that Meat Loaf was unintentionally hilarious, and there was some extremely dodgy CGI during a dream sequence.

I remember seeing this as a kid, when I thought almost all movies were good. Looking back now this movie doesn't even hold up to when it was released. This was his first movie in three years since To Wong Foo and by that point his resume was very spotty, so I assume they were trying to make him into an action star with this. Meatloaf is really an untapped source of comedy for this show because he has some truly outrageous roles, like as The Lizard in Formula 51.

 

Side note, when searching for Swayze on IMDB I typed in Patrick on the search bar, but he was still only the third ranked "Patrick" on the site behind Patrick Wilson, which makes sense because he's been working quite a bit the last few years, and then Terra Patrick, porn superstar, is first person who shows up when looking for "Patrick" on the site.

Watching Black Dog right now and this one should definitely be done. I mean, we could all write our own Randy Travis songs based on the movie. Classics such as: The Meatloaf’s Gone Bad, I Watched Patrick Swayze Cauterize His Own Womb, Who’s Feeding That Dog No Seriously He Ain’t Been Fed.

Randy Travis tries so goddamn hard in this movie its hard to fault him. Also reading the wiki made me remember that Swayze's backstory was that he hallucinated a black dog before demolishing a driver and their passenger on the side of the road.

So at the end were supposed to be cheering on the fact that the FBI gave him back his license as a reward despite the fact that one of the few things we know about this character is that he imagines dogs in the moments before he's about to commit vehicular manslaughter.
