RyanSz 3140 Posted November 2, 2017 During the discussion of Virtuosity it was brought up that both the main stars of the film were A-list Oscar winners and the question was brought up if this film had the most Oscar recipients. So I decided to start compiling a list of nominees and winners in HDTGM films. Names that I looked at were the actors, director, producers, and writers, but those names may not have won in those categories i.e. Justin Timberlake being nominated for Best Song but he acted in The Love Guru. If a person has both won an Oscar but has been nominated other times, I am only listing the win. I'm about 1/6th the way through the episode list, but will be continually working on it.  Burlesque Nominated –Stanley Tucci for Lovely Bones Winner – Cher for Moonstruck  Season of the Witch Winner – Nicolas Cage for Leaving Las Vegas  Old Dogs Nominated – John Travolta for Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction Matt Dillon for Crash Winner – Robin Williams for Good Will Hunting  Last Airbender Nominated – M. Over the course of my research I did find quite a few all-stars that haven't been listed yet, but I think I'll give it some time before delving back into the HDTGM research hole. 4 Share this post Link to post

Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted November 19, 2017 Kazaam Winner – James Acheson for The Last Emperor, Dangerous Liasons, and Restoration This honestly surprised me to see the shitty dad in this movie had won more Oscars at that point than fucking Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Al Pacino.  Sorry to do a C&O on your research, but I believe you are talking about two different James Achesons. The Oscar winner is an English costume designer, with a career spanning back to 1970s Doctor Who, all the way up to prestige period dramas and superhero flicks. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0009807/  The actor in Kazaam is this fellow, who appeared in a smattering of supporting roles in TV and film in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0009806/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm Share this post Link to post

grudlian. 4725 Posted December 11, 2017 James was just nominated for a Golden Globe so it seems like we're on our way to a legit Oscar nominated HDTGM movie! I really hope so because it's a wonderful performance. But the Oscars are a bit stuffier. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get nominated for anything. Especially with as strong as this year has been for movies. 1 Share this post Link to post

Especially with as strong as this year has been for movies. I can see Franco get at least a nomination because his performance is getting mounds of praise, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Gary Oldman get the win. Because if there is anything the Oscars love giving awards to more than films about the arts, it's biopics. 1 Share this post Link to post

Because if there is anything the Oscars love giving awards to more than films about the arts, it's biopics. I can see Franco being the most likely but I think that's largely because of how weak lead actors have been this year. Or the great lead actor performances are in not typical of the Oscars type movies. Share this post Link to post
taylor anne photo 11311 Posted December 12, 2017 I definitely think James is going to get a nom. In my opinion all of the strongest performances have been by women so I actually think it's going to be easier to nominated the men this year. Â Although if Daniel Kaluuya doesn't get nominated for Get Out (wtf is this comedy-musical BS from the GGs???) then I'm going to riot. Share this post Link to post

Although if Daniel Kaluuya doesn't get nominated for Get Out (wtf is this comedy-musical BS from the GGs???) then I'm going to riot. They need to change comedy-musical to a general category, because that's what it's become over the last 15 years. It's basically used as a catch-all for a nominee that they couldn't find space for in the drama category (Matt Damon in The Martian) or a film that doesn't fit any of the three genres but they want to nominate it anyway (The Tourist). 1 Share this post Link to post
