Season 2, Ep 16 - Tom the Girlfriend
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hello From The Magic Tavern
Dusted off my account to say: Tom is great, the actor is great and plays off the main cast well and I like his voice, it's never felt awkward to me when he's on the show and if it was a problem surely you wouldn't bring him back, and I think the new "season" has been great. Don't kill Tom and keep up the good work! -
It's hilarious Paul brought up Richard Scarry when talking about the Mandela effect, because yesterday, via another podcast's livestream, they played this video: A pretty clear case for synchronicity right here. (Or a clear case that people just misremember things or are confused by double r's in someone's name and just can't stand being wrong. Either way.)

Sweet, thanks, I'm super new so I haven't gone through them all yet. It'll be interesting to hear their take.

I hope I won't sound like THAT nerd, but there's a few found footage/mockumentary horror movies before Man Bites Dog. They're worth looking into! Cannibal Holocaust is the first one I can think of from the 70s, (but there may be one even before that), but it's about a man that goes to the Amazon to find out what happened to a film crew and he brings back their footage and half the movie is that. (Warning, though, if you watch the unedited version there is live animal deaths that is pretty brutal.) There's interesting stories to go along with the film, like the stars were paid to basically go into hiding to make it seem like the footage was real and the director was put on trial under suspicion of creating a snuff film. But if people don't want to count that movie as found footage since that stuff is only half the movie, in '89 there was a movie called UFO Abduction, or also known as The McPherson Tape, which is about a man filming his niece's birthday one night and they get attacked by aliens. To this day there are people that think it's real footage (hilariously enough) like Blair Witch. A year before Man Bites Dog was released there was a British TV movie called Ghostwatch that was a mockumentary rather than found footage, but it's about a BBC special that's investigating a haunted home that goes awry and it's filmed live. And people also thought that this was real when it was aired.

Episode 73 - Chunt's Night (Live from Stage 773 in Chicago)
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hello From The Magic Tavern
"Uhhhh, what's next? Mrow." "It was Arnie as a cat!" If a certain card company that receives packages for the podcast made this into a real card game I would buy it in a heart beat. -
I miss Creaky Gate already...

BONUS: A Conversation with Mel Brooks

Oh, and also, Paul, if you're able to do this Mel Brooks podcast idea, for God's sake, do it. -
BONUS: A Conversation with Mel Brooks
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I love Mel Brooks, The Producers is my favorite movie of all time and I can't wait to listen to this, since I'm sure he has a good nature about it. Just listening to the intro reminds me Mel has always seemed like the nicest dude in the world. Just finished listening; he is so insanely genial. He almost goes bankrupt because of this movie and is able to talk about it in a way that is barely bitter. He is what we all should aim to be. But the #1 lesson to take from this, as he brought up, to quote Bialystock: NEVER PUT YOUR OWN MONEY IN THE SHOW -

Adding a new phrase to the lexicon. "You know the F-Word is 'for spanks'. F for 'for'!" -
Episode 60 - Confidential Courier
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Hello From The Magic Tavern
On last week's ep: We don't talk about buttholes THAT much! This ep: Arnie with tiny hands reaches into a butthole. I love this show. -
Episode 418 - Paul Reiser and The Apple Tree
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Scott was more disgusted by Willy joining in on the song than the apple noises, and that was beautiful.- 61 replies

"A man of 1000 voices and 1000 jaw bones put into one." Jokes about Tim's head will never not get old. -
Episode 52 - The Last Blockbuster Video Store

I don't want to alarm anyone, but there appears to be a tiny leprechaun spying in on the show. Might need to spray the studio. -
PFT needs proof, so here is my proof I watch NYSU, when the fates aligned in my "Shows You Watch" queue on the Hulu homepage some months ago that I saved for obvious reasons: EDIT that was the best look it up chant yet.

I listened to this after listening to the new Doughboys and it was pretty great. -
"What's the last thing you remember?" "Dying." Gourley is always so quick with things, it blows my mind and fills the cavity with chuckles.

Episode 222.5 - Ask the UCB: Playing Gay Improv Characters
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
I keep typing a long spiel here but it's basically just a rehash of things answered or speculated on in this bonus ep. Too much to say on this topic, not just for improv but entertainment in general! However, it would be great if there could be a part two to this where you ask any LGB improvers their thoughts on this, if they're cool to discuss it, of course. While it's good to hear answers from straight performers on this issue, it's very important to hear the other side. -
Episode 43 - Pediatrician Waiting Room
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
The ep was great and everything (Agee's microagression killed me), but now I need the Mitch and Delores solve where Delores' husband's body has gone to mystery. Perhaps solved thanks to the encyclopedic knowledge Mitch has of advertisers past and present. -
EPISODE 220 — The Milk Carton Kids: The Musical Element

EPISODE 218 — Dawes in You've Been Invited to an Invite

Right? It's only been a week since the Christmas episode and Besser's already unlearned his lesson. /sarcasm -
"Drop a corpulent beat" is going to be part of my vernacular from now until I die.

EPISODE 217 — A i4h Christmas Carol
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
This was great. So great, I will pray to the ghost of Armen for the Earwolf store to finally update with not only the T-shirt sizes you need, but more colors as well. Maybe a pale yellow, or a slightly more mustard yellow. -
EPISODE 35 - The Moon Landing Taping, 1969

This is the best improving I've seen on the forums yet. Very authentic. -
EPISODE 30 - Vent Haven Ventriloquist Museum
itsrobobo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I got excited thinking the mystery of the strange sound from last episode would be solved when it was brought up, but MEJ and PFT only deepened the mystery. Until the truth comes out, I can only believe in MEJ's speculation that it came directly from Sarah's mouth. -
I enjoy Elzid Falcon-Crow sounds like "Home Movies" Brendon doing a fantasy film. "I spent a lot of time in theatre school before I became a, you know, fighter thief. I stole a lot of things, and I got into fights...I'm a fighter thief."
