Oh no, this is really tragic. So sorry to hear this.

This should make you laugh .... I spent several years tipping maize plants with balloons attached to the ends filled with media and expensive chemicals and inhibitors. Sometime the balloons would burst into your face and your lab coat would be sticky. And then measuring how much they would bend ... by hand. And then extracting RNA. Also, it took 6 weeks to set up the plants and sometimes rats would get into the greenhouse and eat your experiment. And there were black widow spiders in the greenhouse so you had to make sure to give things a good kick before picking them up. I eventually became allergic to maize after my eye blew up and I had to go to the hospital.

Did not mean to scare you Bruce but I recognized the signs when I read you posts ! I'm pretty sure I know what those emails from your french boss look like as well. What a git. I am now out of the research game but after graduate school in UK I came over here to join the foreign postdoc army and I worked in labs for a really long time. My bag is/was biochem and mol biol. Mostly plants and algae. Also, like you I'm sure, I have a tonne of crazy lab stories. I'm sure your boss is mad and is slowly trying to drive you insane. And your lab mates will throw you under the bus at lab meeting and isn't it your turn to do Journal Club ?

Sounds like someone (and please, correct me if I'm wrong) is in that special kind of hell for graduates and yes, postdocs too, where you are tied to the bench doing endless experiments, working all the time in the lab with your cultures and your gels and hiding from your lab boss who wants data now for their presentations and conferences and when will you finish writing that paper !! If so, my thoughts are with you Bruce.

Thank you, thank you. My accent does indeed come from England -- West Midlands to be abit more precise. And here's something else --- my parents (and much of family) live in Cork, Ireland ! So, I would also like to join the Ireland contingent at some point of Honlands and friends, perhaps as an overseas member that sometime visits ? Also, Hayes asked me about my name. I fumbled the ball abit. I think I should change it. I just wanted to post on the forum about the live show, and didn't give it enough thought ! Did I mention he is incredibly nice and bought us a pint each ? I also got to ask Sean about Parks and Rec ! Really looking forward to listening to this show. Really fun night ! Live show was hilarious, really top show I've been to. Sean and Hayes funny as hell and guests were really great. Forum-ers are so nice and friendly ! Thank you for that Scoop Troop. And then, you know, meeting Sean and Hayes was amazing and they are really lovely. It was truly a great night. I hope they do more live shows and you should all come. Did not take many pics, only a couple at the very end. But here is my contribution of Tim singing the Popcorn Gallery song with the guests (singing something else, hilariously). Good job Tim !

I've been there quite abit in the last few months since it opened. Last time I was there was for the Womp It Up podcast and everyone was well-behaved, no pissing on the floors -- perhaps if they threw down some sawdust ? Is that how they do at the Penthouse Penthouse ?
