Episode 72 - Airship Underwater: Live from Largo
DreamWorrier replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I know it's a cliched thing to say, but I really would listen to to a Paul and Robyn podcast, about whatever they wanted to talk about. -
This episode was kind of sickening, even though it did have one genuine laugh (the caller's unironic "I've got nothing against these people!"). It's probably too much to expect from an American based podcast to consider that there are countries other than the USA, and that things happened even in America prior to the last couple of decades, but it would be heartening if people who consider themselves progressive (is that an unfounded assumption on my part?) were able to look a little bit beyond their own experiences.

+1 for this. IWTT is a great podcast, but that particular episode is one of the best. -
EPISODE 37 - Saltwater Tuffy Shoppe: Live from LA Podfest

Even though I don't always catch his allusions, Eban is such a fantastic part of this podcast. -
EPISODE 744 - Cultural Appropriation of Parents
DreamWorrier replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Yo, Is This Racist?
This is the saddest episode I've heard so far As someone who is 'two generations out', it's heartbreaking to think that it would be considered racist to hold on to the culture of my parents and grandparents, but there you go. -
EPISODE 32 - Storage Room In Back Of Hot Dog Stand

This episode was an exhibition in everything that's great about the show. -
The Terror of Tiny Town (1938)
DreamWorrier replied to ComradePepper's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I don't know if the responses here are jokes, but wasn't this a movie that only ever made it to a (almost half hour) preview? -
"That's where the pussy is" should be a new t-shirt.

I loved this episode - I like HH, but it was awesome to hear Hayes as his own, very funny self. His response to the line that named the episode had me rolling. ETA: Can anyone recommend a Reality Show episode to start with?

Holy crap - that gaming commentary is one of the funniest things I've ever heard

Thank you both!

I loved this episode. Does anyone have a twitter/facebook/whatever link for Sarah? Her name isn't easy to google.

I'd love for this to happen.

Agreed. Although most of the films covered might be considered 'bad', talking about films that have some other reason for making us ask 'how the hell did this get made' has been part of the show since at least as far back as episode 20 (Punisher: War Zone).

It makes perfect sense, though, when you look into what he's selling. So he's not homophobic in the usual way - he just can't get his head around a situation in which a (gay) male PUA will be victimising another man, or where a (lesbian) woman would exploit another woman; and, of course, there's no room in his philosophy for. a situation where a woman would victimise a man.

I think that we can agree that a statement like that made in the context of both a podcast interview, and this guy's whole shtick, is the polar opposite of something existing "in a vacuum". That statement was as good a last straw as any, because there's no doubt what was behind him saying it, at that time.

This was a strange episode, but I was happy to hear David take the nonsense on head on, and Tig & Kyle taking the piss. It's hilarious how idiotic PUA techniques and ideas sound when put under comic scrutiny.
