    Episode 153 - Escape from L.A.: LIVE!

I know you weren't asking me, but I'd rank mine just the same, only I'd drop LA and add The Thing a second time for good measure.

    Episode 153 - Escape from L.A.: LIVE!

Escape From New York IS pure gold and I'm blown away there isn't more love here. Disappointed in everyone but Fister, AbeFroman, & Cam Bert. I also question D'arcy's taste in men, because as a straight married man, even I want to fuck Kurt Russell as Snake.
  3. I should have known this would already be a discussion, but I was jumping on to say Jason's BB8 wheeze laugh should have at least been nominated for a Pete Holmes award.

    Episode 150 - Grease 2

Ooof, I normally like to get those reveals from the minisodes, but I'm so fucking excited I couldn't possibly be mad at you for the spoilage! I have been wanting Highlander 2 forever! I remember Jason suggesting to do Highlander and I cringed, "No! The Quickening!" I still hate Escape From LA for killing John Carpenter and Kurt Russell. And my soul.

    Episode 135 - Solarbabies: LIVE!

That's interesting! Looking online, I had only seen 'Chicani' but 'Tchigani' seems right. If I can't trust AFI Catalogue of Films, who can I trust? http://www.afi.com/m...?s=&Movie=57475 This is from Roger Ebert's 2 star reveiw: "One of the camps is inhabited by the Tchigani, descendants of Chicanos, and that leads to one of the movie's several inadvertently hilarious moments. One of the heroes is a Latin who travels with a tame owl. The leader of the settlement questions him: Leader: "What is your name?" Boy: "I call myself 'Death Star.' " Leader: "Does that owl belong to you?" Boy: "As much as an owl can belong to any man." Leader: "You are Tchigani!" The next shot shows the settlement's symbolic sculpture, rather unfortunately surmounted by a hubcap." I don't know what I love more...that he calls him Death Star or that he calls him "A Latin". As a kid, I could have sworn it was Dark Star.

    Episode 135 - Solarbabies: LIVE!

I remember as a kid being furious they never went back and used Bohdi to revive Darstar's owl.

    Episode 135 - Solarbabies: LIVE!

When arriving at the Chicani camp, I turned to my wife and said, "Look, they've made it to Santa Fe" (regarding all of the douchey white people posing as Native American). The name Chicani, for me, channeled Chicano, a somewhat ambiguous Mexican-American cultural identity. For many the term is used as a point of pride, but in the past it has held negative connotations. One example of derogatory use would be wealthier Mexican-Americans using Chicano as a pejorative to describe those of a lower social standing. The camp certainly felt more hippie-wannabe than that of a spiritual people. And were they supposed to be an ancient race (or culture, whatever)? There really is no sense of time in this movie. I love when Terra rescues the rest of the Solarbabies and takes them to her new home, and says "I live here" as if it is a place she's known her whole life. Um, weren't you kidnapped, like, 2 hours ago? On top of that, how were YOU rescued? So stupid. I love this movie.

    Episode 134.5 - Minisode 134.5

Not harsh enough? I am not liking the new segment at all...however, you've hit the major bullet points here. A couple (only a couple) have been genuinely interesting (like Can't Stop the Murders), just a bit of a chore to sit through. They shouldn't feel like I would have already hung up and deleted my voicemail mid-message. I have nothing constructive to add since 'don't call in, I don't want to hear you speak' doesn't help a call-in segment. But joking aside, 100% agreed, some fine tuning and focus would go a long way.

    Episode 134.5 - Minisode 134.5

SOLARBABIES! So. Freakin'. Pumped! Oath me you'll all watch it. Oath me!
  10. I suspect Paul won't even bring it up. Just focus on the episode. Although, I'd be totally fine if he said, "We pick the guests, this is our show that you get for free, fuck you." and since its Paul he'd back-pedal, "Okay, not 'fuck you' but deal with it, okay?"
  11. Fuck you, Cameron H., you're hot garbage! (just keeping everything balanced for you ;p) I'd live in your beard...it would give me an excuse to dress like Indy and wield a machete. Although, honestly, I'd rather live on an Eggo planet.
  12. Regarding Chyna and the Hall of Fame...it isn't so much porn in general, it is that one parodied the product as well as members of the McMahon family (I don't know the name- those movies have names, right?- and I'm not about to google it at work). Also of note, "Macho Man" Randy Savage wasn't inducted into the HOF until 2015, 4 years after his death. And he was the fucking MACHO MAN (see, tied it back to the ep!!). There was even more bad blood there, so it isn't impossible.
  13. I had never seen Tammy Grimes before this film (Sam's former agent), but my ears immediately perked up when she spoke and was unmistakably Molly freaking Grue from The Last Unicorn.
  14. I think I was wrong, actually (those trustworthy internet sources). I think he did leave of his own accord, so only his girlfriend was fired. I can only imagine her showing up on the first day of shooting and someone asking, "What the fuck are you still doing here?" But yeah, it is crazy that the lead singer of a biopic (loose term) isn't in their own movie. Even more crazy that two of their biggest hits, "Macho Man" and "In The Navy" are absent as well (although Valerie wears a Macho Woman T-shirt at the Y) Ha! I love that Willis' big takeaway from that court settlement was,"I'm excited that the world will now know that 'Y.M.C.A.' is all-American, not French."
  15. And Cameron got this wrong (she said cry), it's: "Leathermen don't get nervous! Leathermen don't get nervous" "Oh, yes they do. Yes, they do!"
  16. Paul mentioned Victor Willis and his girlfriend, but he omitted that Ray Simpson replaced him during pre-production, so the pair are never seen on screen. Ray, clearly not worried about anyone questioning his orientation, looks like he's having a blast in the movie (not to mention enjoying the promotion from backup singer to TOP COP) Was anyone else mesmerized by Felipe the Indian's robotic whooping vocalizations? Like a power he can activate, as it is clearly without filters or gadgets.

    Episode 132 - Bloodsport: LIVE!

Amy the Gorilla...I love you, my friend. This! Is! Amazing! This is either a homerun or a touchdown, depending on which Giants team you prefer.

    Episode 132 - Bloodsport: LIVE!

Jason touched on it briefly, but Ray Jackson certainly feels like he was introduced as a villain. The two are never really seen bonding outside of video game sparring, but that was enough to rank up to BFFs. So much so that Jackson has full access to JCVD's room, where he can come in as he pleases and even stand on his bed. I thought Jackson was for sure going to get killed, and JCVD's reaction to his match seemed to reinforce that (again, a deep reaction for this perfect stranger). All of this could be brushed aside if not for the fact that he tells him that he loves him. "Anytime, anyplace, anywhere, if you ever need me, I'll be there." that I get, but "I love you, my friend"??? You just met this dude! It almost feels like there was a missing character that fused with Jackson. Like, what if Tanaka's son wasn't dead and traveled along to the Kumite (maybe even finding his fate at the hands of Chong-Li)? Or even just an established longtime friend when he arrives. The sappiness would make sense when applied to an actual "brother" figure.

    Episode 132 - Bloodsport: LIVE!

Stan Bush who I've always loved for "The Touch" and "Dare" from The Transformers: The Movie soundtrack also wrote songs for Bloodsport AND Kickboxer. Most of the lyrics are pretty literal to their respective films, "mighty hands of steel" in Transformers, "Kumite, Kumite, fight to survive" in Bloodsport, and "crusin' down the streets of Siam" in Kickboxer, but I think it would be fun to do a roulette wheel of them and see how interchangeable they can be. At the very least, I'd like for Frank Dux to challenge Chong-Li to "The Touch".

    Episode 132 - Bloodsport: LIVE!

The playful nature of the chase scene reminded me of Lupin III. Not only is he playing with his pursuers, ones who are never a real threat, he makes sure to wait around to let them know he's getting away (all while donning a bright, pastel colored jacket).

Episode 129 - The Apple: LIVE!

It totally is the Homermobile! In fact, all of the cars had unnecessary bubble domes on top. Was there a 9-foot-tall sub-race they never got around to that needed the extra head room? Here are a few more screen grabs, one of the horn you mentioned.

To stick with the martial arts theme and stay true to the HDTGM spirit, you can try Ninja III: The Domination.

Episode 128 - Streets of Fire: LIVE!

When you announced this, my only wish going in was that Jason would dig it. Wish granted! I'm a fan of the film and the soundtrack. I'm surprised the soundtrack didn't come up. The Jim Stienman penned Fire Inc songs in particular are a huge part of the film's following and really do feel like "lost" Meatloaf songs and "I Can Dream About You" was a top 10 hit. The bookend piece "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young" which seems to be the favored of the two (I prefer "Nowhere Fast") was actually a rush job. They were certain they would secure the rights to Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Fire" and even filmed the finale to it. Bruce rejected it when he learned a female vocalist would cover the song, not use his original. Stienman wrote the replacement in a matter of days and they had to reshoot the ending, which of course added more to the already overblown budget (like you mentioned, $1 million for a tarp!)

    Episode 127.5 - Minisode 127.5

I love this movie and the soundtrack, particularly the Fire Inc songs... But you just made my entire week with this amazingly amazing Janus no Kagami opening. I'm in your debt. I once had the Streamline dub VHS of Zillions... Somehow never made the connection, but you're totally right. Maybe not a remake, but certainly heavily inspired by.

    EPISODE 123 - Lifeforce

Ha, yeah, miffed wasn't the best word choice. I wasn't genuinely bothered by it. Perplexed, maybe? Thanks for sharing that Cameron H. You were much better at conveying the heart of what I was aiming for. I appreciate that your approach on parenting is: parenting. I think it's impossible to be erotic with all that forceful, open-eyed face sucking. Unless that's someone's thing?
