Hey Paul. After your story about Eban and how his sister dictated what he could and couldn't like, I was wondering: would it ever be a possibility to have Eban on as an interview guest (perhaps for a special occasion like the 1-year anniversary of SPONTANEANATION)? He doesn't play during the interview segments, so I think it would be totally delightful to hear you have a chat with Eban.

Paul called me out by name in this ep. But Wookieepedia agrees with me: In the Mental Floss interview, Leonard Ripps said: To me, that sounds like Ripps' interpretation of the idea more than saying, "It was based on Rosh Hashanah." (Also, neither Rosh Hashanah nor Earth Day would have occurred near the time of the holiday special).

I agree, but I have a feeling that's something they're going to explore more in Ep 8. Or at least, I'm hoping they do. Also, I'm pretty sure Dan just started a gif war with taylorannephoto. -

I didn't even know who Dick Francis was until this episode, but that whole bit killed me, especially when they asked Jason about it, completely apropos of nothing.

EPISODE 41 - Pet Store, Post Robbery

It reminded me a lot of Melanie Lynskey's story about her secret best friend. Childhood friendships are often totally one-sided and "abusive" (in the way that David described it), and there's something about those kinds of stories that really crack me up. I was enjoying the interview before his story, but I was thinking, "Man, it's a testament to Paul and his guests that even when an interview isn't funny, they can make it really interesting and engaging." Then the secret band story started, and my opinion clearly changed. And after Paul's brief story about Eban's childhood and his sister dictating what he could like, I really wish Eban could be a guest. -

Probably magnets, since that's how the working model and toy both work. -

Kylo isn't fully trained in the Force yet. That's why his emotions control him. They actually created a complex character that is struggling with the two sides of the Force fighting inside of him. He's powerful in the Force, but he lacks control. He wants to be Darth Vader, but he's afraid he never will have as much power or control over that power as Vader. I think he's an incredible character that is extremely conflicted, which is what most Star Wars fans say they want, although their response to his character has pretty much proven that they would rather have a badass instead. Unrelated: kind of bummed that there's not a new ep today, but I'm going to chalk it up to a combination of the holiday and June's birthday (happy birthday to June!). -
Electric Boogaloo - The Wild Story Of Cannon Films

That's a good doc, but it's also incredibly depressing. The Batman guy is kind of a douche, so his particular brand of crazy goes down easier. But the Superman dude's story was kind of heartbreaking.- 27 replies

It was also an episode of DuckTales: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1033804/ Either way, it's still a really good pull.

I had forgotten how much came out of Heynong Man. There's the titular phrase. There's "Big ups to people of all stars and stripes." And this is where "The Widow Kulap" started. It's such a silly and fun episode. And the call beforehand as so wonderful. These three dudes have such a good time together, and I can never get enough of them. (Also, Jason's "Is this what you wanted?" to Scott is one of the most perfect things ever)

Do we know if they recorded all of the Best Ofs in one stretch? I feel they dive deeper into insanity with each Best Of episode, and by this one, they were just bonkers. And it was wonderful. I hadn't listened to that episode since it was first released because I thought it would bum me out (even though I voted for it). I had totally forgotten about the whole theater blowjob story, and it totally cracked me up again. The way everything unfolds with that story is so perfect.

To be fair, EVERYONE loves BB-8. And if you don't, you're probably dead inside. -
My least favorite are: 1-3. Adomian eps (not counting the holiday ep) 4. That is Wild 5. The Hotwives of Las Vegas Adomian just doesn't do it for me. I this he does great impressions, but they generally just don't have anything funny to say. Yes, we get it; Bernie Sanders talks about statistics and Tom Leykis is gross. You don't need to tell the same joke for an hour to make that point. The Tom Green one just made me uncomfortable to listen to. And The Hotwives one just wasn't my cup of tea. But I don't think I'm their target audience, either. There might have been worse ones, but by, like, June or July, I had started just listening to the ones with guests I knew I'd enjoy. There was a pretty big string of mehpisodes throughout the summer. Edit: Also, I thought about including CBB: The Movie in mine because I didn't remember it too fondly, but the Best Of clip they used was actually pretty funny. I just still can't get totally on board with Sean and Hayes, even if their vibe is immediate.

The Tig and Stephanie was one of my favorites, but I wouldn't consider it a "Best Of," if that makes any sense. I love both Tig and Stephanie separately, so hearing them together was wonderful. It's definitely not a hilarious episode, but I enjoyed every second of it. They're adorable together, and I teared up a few times when they were telling their history.

"These are the sorts of movies the Disney people should be making." Good call, Mr Ebert.
