I'd be happy just to finally get LL on SPONT. This is definitely one of the best episodes so far this year. This one, the one with the contest winner/Andy Daly/PFT/LL, and last week's Wompler birthday are pretty much tied for the best in my book. This one might actually be slightly better just because of how much I love Tatiana Maslany and the fact that she did a character.

So you didn't even bother to look at the first page of the thread where there's a picture of him?

It definitely is in many sci-fi-type shows. However, two movies that have avoided that have since become classics: Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Fifth Element. In particular, I love the way The Fifth Element handles it. What it proves is that it's not SUPER hard to make an alien character speak English in an somewhat believable way (compared to the rest of the movie, this is the most believable aspect). But then again, as Jason said frequently........cocaine.

Like most things in this movie, that was actually an accident. They had filled a bag with fake blood and put it beside the dummy. The idea was supposed to be that after the steamroller ran over the kid, the blood would coat the roller (which has always struck me as very cartoon-ish). When they went to film the scene, bag o' blood exploded too early, so it looked like the kid's head blew out.

What about Survivor?

It sounds like the movie's going to date rape me.

This is one of the June-iest theories I have ever heard...which I mean as a total compliment, of course.

I REALLY want to see this movie.

1. Blue collar workers still went to middle school, which is where I learned who Chamberlain was. This is only ~40 years WWII. It would be similar to someone today knowing who Margaret Thatcher is (that was 20ish years ago, but you get the idea). 2. Your random-ass font sizes/colors make my eyes bleed.

Yeah, it's worth pointing out that this was a year before the first Simpsons shorts aired on The Tracey Ullman Show.

It gave me kind of a They Live vibe.

Neville Chamberlain isn't really THAT obscure of a reference, though. He was a pretty big figure in the lead-up to (and the year or so of) WWII. I made this one for the minisode thread because one of the theories was that he hit a divot in the ground or a molehill or something. I think the bike was throwing him off because the rules in this movie are 100% randomly enforced.

Aren't they talking about Little League, though? Those fences are 200-275 ft. Not super impressive, but 250 isn't all that shabby for Little League.
