I really, really, really wanted Ann Coulter to deny that sharknadoes exist (along with her other crazy shit, she's a major climate change denier) right before a sharknado popped up and killed her. That would have been the only good part of this movie. Instead, she fucking surfed down, like, 10 stairs on a picture of George Washington with the dude from Sugar Ray.

Shit. And I was JUST about to ask if you had any plans to have Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the show. Guess I'll just have to wait and see...

What's the hashtag for everyone in this franchise to die?

There's a character in this piece of shit named Harleen Quinn. Maybe our Harley/Joker derail from last week wasn't as irrelevant as we thought.

HOW DARE YOU HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE THIS THREAD, TAYLORANNEPHOTO!
-
I feel like they talked about this in the Kaitlin Olson interview, but I don't remember if he said anything about what he wears at home. All I remember is the term "pre-j's". I guess that means I must force myself to go back and thoroughly enjoy this episode again!

They just tweeted this. Sad face....

He said earlier in the thread that he might skip watching this one =\ Also, someone mentioned earlier that they watched Sharknado 2 on Syfy's website, and it looks like this one is on there, too. There doesn't seem to be any sort of cable login required or anything, so if you want to watch it, it's here: http://www.syfy.com/sharknado3/videos/sharknado-3 I guess I will be getting drunk and watching this movie tonight because alcohol is probably the only way I will be able to sit through this shit.

I don't have cable, so I'll have to acquire it somehow after it airs.

EPISODE 17 - Science Fair
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
That's how I feel any time I hear something that the Wild Horses crew does (all of whom still need to be on Spont). I can recognize Lauren Lapkus' voice, but I can never distinguish between the other three. And yet, I always enjoy their performances. -
RiffTrax releases audio companions for shitty movies. It's basically MST3K that you sync up to the movie. They've been doing it since 2006, and they're pretty fantastic. They also have some pretty great guest stars from time to time. Oh, and they often do RiffTrax live, which is really entertaining. They make fun of a movie live, and then they simulcast it into a bunch of other theaters. I think the next one is Miami Connection, which is a hilariously bad 80s movie about Tae Kwon Do, a band called Dragon Sound, and random motorcycle ninjas. It's awesome, and I can't wait for that RiffTrax.

Let's just do an all Ice T cast.

Are you saying Jason Alexander isn't a heartthrob? For shame.

Apparently, I missed that tweet. From Paul's lips to God's ears. Thanks for letting me know!

That makes me so happy. I love the diversity on Spontaneanation, and I hope to see it grow even more as keep working in that vein. Thank you so much for answering my question. Since it was really kind of a softball (albeit one based in genuine curiosity), I want to pose the really tough questions now. This one was from way back in episode 7, but another user posted it, and I think it's such a good question that I'm going to quote him here: I told him/her to tweet you and ask you about that before I knew about this thread, but I don't think they did. Can we make this the official name of your opening riff?

EPISODE 17 - Science Fair
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
We had a discussion way back in Episode 8 about singing certain syllabic patterns to certain songs. Chalkdust, I hope you enjoyed "Science Fair Scandal! (Throw back a bottle of beeeeeer)" this week. -
EPISODE 17 - Science Fair

"There's nothing wrong with a natural fish." Oh, Paget. You're the best. -
One thing I love about this show is that there are so many funny women on it! I think there's only been one episode that was all guys (which was still hilarious), but it's always nice to hear these awesome ladies on Spontaneanation. That goes for both guests and improvisers. Is this something you consciously think about when booking the show, or is it just that you happen to know a lot of funny people and many of them happen to be women so it just works out enough to give you such a good balance?

Hahaha yessss. That's up there with a similar scene from Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus:

I was in after "She constantly looks like she's being told she can't bring her cat someplace." I am going to have to check this one out.

Did he actually answer any questions at the one you went to? When I saw him, he basically said, "It doesn't matter; next question" to almost every question someone asked him. Although I did get to see him sing a song to a newly married couple outside after the screening. And that was pretty amazing.

He wasn't convicted of anything. He hasn't even been arrested or charged. Basically, the dude that ran his non-profit was busted for child pornography. Then some lady in Florida said that she had heard Jared make inappropriate remarks about middle school kids (although the FBI hasn't yet confirmed nor denied that was part of the impetus behind their investigation). Anyway, the FBI raided Jared's house, but they found nothing, so he wasn't even arrested. They haven't released many details yet, which is probably because it's part of an ongoing investigation into the other dude. Anything else is speculation at this point (and predominantly unfounded speculation, I might add).

I went to a screening of The Room that had a Q&A with Tommy that was 100% bonkers. Before the Q&A, they played an episode of Neighbors. I couldn't even follow wtf was going on. The audience's favorite part was the music they use for the establishing shot of the building, which was fortunate, because it crops up about every minute and a half.

I'm also glad that calling her "The Widow Kulap" is apparently here to stay. It makes me laugh every time.

The Tig doc hit Netflix last night, and everyone should watch it. It's really amazing, and I totally didn't cry at all during it...
