EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Correction/omission - how long were Fairuza Balk and David Thewlis running in that fucking jungle? It was so clearly the middle of the night when Thewlis walked in on that weird birth scene. Then, when they made it to the beach, it looked like it was dawn. Then, when they get caught and Brando makes his interest, it's midday. I mean, the movie has no logic anyway, so it's probably not bound by the laws of time to which the more rational of us that don't play piano duets with miniature versions of ourselves adhere. -
Why did they change the theme song?
FisterRoboto replied to Ribelin2000's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I liked the old one. It was Warren Fitzgerald from The Vandals. That said, I like the new one, too. Isn't it fan-made? I love the fact that it references so much of the history of the show. If people can't get past the genre of the music to appreciate the content of the song, fuck 'em. The rest of us will enjoy it.- 128 replies

EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I totally agree. I always watch them on the weekend between the mini-ep and the full ep. I haven't had time to watch the movie yet. (Although that didn't start me from starting the ep this morning because I miss June.) -
It's like if Rob Liefeld did prop design.

EPISODE 350 — Helmets, Aqueduct, Crucifixion, and Boobs
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Spontaneanation brought back some characters from earlier episodes this week, too. His contraption-making character from Savannah, Georgia and Count Dracula did ads this week, and they were awesome. -
EPISODE 7 - A UFC Weigh-In
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
I love that Paul's contraption-making character from Savannah, Georgia read one of the ads. I hope he keeps recycling characters to read those. It was wonderful. And of course Dracula, but that character wasn't as fun as Savannah, Georgia (a name I will always hear in Paul's and Marc Evan Jackson's voices). -
The Rock is the best part of the movie. He's only in it for, like, 10 minutes total, but every single shot of him is pure gold. The "Daddy's gotta go to work" scene is one of my favorite things ever.

They did say that they would be recording it in early May, so this week would be the first week it would have even been possible. We'll likely get it in June.

EPISODE 6 - Dracula's Bedroom
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
Agreed. I'm also waiting for Lauren Lapkus to be on the show. She and Paul play off each other so well. -
It is where I live. Stupid Cedar Fever...
-
Agreed. Ever since I saw Paul crop up on Fresh Off the Boat, I was hoping we might get an episode with Randall Park. His theory of the movie as a Scientology allegory was one of the best parts of the episode.

I think you just took this from great movie to greatest movie!
-
The first comment on that video has one of the best Second Opinions, especially if you imagine it in Paul's voice: They're all just trying to be Clancy Brown from Shawshank, who was just trying to be R Lee Ermey from FMJ.
-
Don't be ridiculous. Nic Cage would be Shawna Archer's husband. You can't take the Cage out of this movie!

How did no one in the audience pick the best combination? Given how awful some of Travolta's dialogue was ("Dress up like Halloween and ghouls will try to get in your pants" or my favorite "We'll take a break when the case BREAKS!"), why not replace Travolta with Tommy Wiseau? He would have given such a great reading to all of Travolta's lines. Cage/Wiseau. Also, they touched on Adam in the episode, but here's the question no one asked: Who the fuck let him take the kid home?! Was there no one that was like, "Hey, that's the son of the guy who killed your son and whom you have been obsessing over for years now. You also just pretended to be him so that you could murder the shit out of him with a spear gun. Maybe you shouldn't be taking his roughly-the-same-age-as-your-dead-child son home with you!"

Dude, you can post that as many times as you like. It's fantastic every time. This episode was just as wonderful as I had hoped. Jason's description of the science behind how your face is attached had me laughing so hard. I love that June is only on the episode for such a small chunk, but she still manages to get in a "That was upsetting." Also, I need to know if June likes plane or "body switcheroo" movies better.

I was already pumped about this episode. I was a really big John Woo fan back in high school and saw this in the theater. But Randall Park is the guest? I can't wait to hear it!
-
This episode was awesome just for PFT's line about Caramel's "lesbianclave."
-
I think they were saying the top 10 of 1st time guests that really nail the format and how to interact with CBB characters. Some people just don't do well with that (see the Tom Green ep from last week). I don't think they were saying the top 10 overall guests.
-
I think you're on your own there. I love every episode with PFT. And this was no exception.

Paul's said several times that they'll be recording it in May after Adam Scott's schedule clears up. That means the earliest we'll see it would be 5/15.

Yeah, I watched it right after Con Air a couple weeks ago, and I haven't seen it on any of the lists saying it will go away yet.

EPISODE 5 - Mars Base 3
FisterRoboto replied to JulyDiaz's topic in SPONTANEANATION with Paul F. Tompkins
No one delivers one or two-word responses like Marc Evan Jackson. This is the second week in a row he's just stolen the show for me. His delivery on "Science" and "Madness personified" made me bust out laughing in my quiet office. -
How long have you been sitting on this waiting to post it? Because it's totally amazing.

I really don't think Tom was the problem. My biggest complaint with him was that he was basically yelling at some points of the episode. I just don't think it was a great episode overall. Trabitha isn't a great character, but she was much better in her last appearance (although Lauren Lapkus is most of what made that episode wonderful). And none of the stuff with the therapist really landed for me. The inner child "suck on a titty" bit just made me cringe. I think the whole episode was just a bit off, but I don't think you can put that on Tom Green. The good news is this is a two-episode week, so I can listen to today's and forget about Monday's
