Musical Mondays-Week 1-Hedwig and the Angry Inch

My favorite lines are the stuff about the fur coat "What poor unfortunate creature had to die for you to wear that?" And also, this movie is where I learned never to put a bra in a dryer.

    Episode 152 - The 2nd Annual Howdies Pt. 2

Same for me. Thanks guys. Paul and June, I hope you have [or had, depending on when you read] a great holiday with your kids. Happy Holidays to all my fellow boardies. I know I'm new, but I already value our interactions.

It's just how she pronounces it. Paul pushes "I'm gonna," together into the super-word "Ongena."

    Good Movies Recommendations

Martin (1978). Written and directed by George Romero [...of the Dead]. Hands down my favorite movie of all time. Technically a horror movie, but character driven and light on gore. The writing and the acting are superb. Easily his best film.

    Your Favorite Episode?

See the movie first. It's worth it. It's one of my favorite movies. A friend of mine actually put together the Blu Ray release for Scream Factory [and I mean, personally tracked down the original elements, did a new 4K scan, remixed the sound....] They say you're always chasing that feeling you got the first time...

Sugar Daddy might be my favorite song in the movie. I'd love to be in the seat that got the carwash [JCM "carwashed" the same seat every night no matter who was in it].

Oh man, I'm gonna cry. I never knew that.

Me and my wife sing these songs to each other ALL the time. Especially Wig in a Box. And neither of us are theater nerds.

Musical Mondays-Week 1-Hedwig and the Angry Inch

I'm getting all emotional just reading these. I can't explain the deep connection I feel for this movie, except just to say that I do. Interesting fact: the final song Midnight Radio was written for the movie because the final song in the play was either copyrighted or just didn't have the necessary punch to end the movie [not going to look it up], but I think it's my favorite song in the movie. I agree with you guys about finding her other half. She found that she had he Good Stuff all along.

    Episode 151 - The 2nd Annual HOWDIES Pt. 1

I knew I was getting older when I watched this movie a few years ago, and when I saw Ralphie's teacher [who in my child-mind was a "fat old lady"] and I thought, "Goddamn, she's kind of hot!"

HAHA! SPOILERS: Question to ponder: Is Hedwig truly a "her." I consider a trans woman to be female, but for Hansel it was merely a means to escape communist East Berlin. And at the end of the story, he is Hansel again.

Taylor Anne, I think you will love it. Especially if you like punk and/or 70s Glam [which I have no idea if you do or not]

    Episode 151 - The 2nd Annual HOWDIES Pt. 1

Yeah, I thought the whole "We're sorry for making you listen to Pete Holmes screaming at you," was a direct reference to all of the message board controversy.

I'm listening again right now. Still great, even if I can't pay super close attention to it because I'm working.

    Your Favorite Episode?

I've come to the conclusion that Dreamcatcher is my favorite episode. I can't even explain why, but I've listened to it six or seven times and it doesn't get old. There have been episodes for movies that I saw over and over again as a kid [bloodsport, Over the Top, No Holds Barred] that I've enjoyed a great deal, and truth be told I've only ever seen Dreamcatcher once back when it was a new release; and I thought it was TERRIBLE! I see that Netflix is adding Dreamcatcher next month and I suppose I'm going to have to watch it again and listen to the episode a few dozen more times. Anyone else? If you had to pick ONE, what is the perfect episode of HDTGM for you?
