Episode 47 - Star Wars with Anthony Forrest
JackChristensen replied to JulyDiaz's topic in I Was There Too
Can't WAIT for the next one. Hurry up, Gourley!!!! -
Not to be a pedant, but I once accidentally got into a swimming pool with a key fob in the pocket of my trunks, and it worked just fine afterward. So, it is possible.

Someone in the episode mentioned that Olyphant's drunken speech to the dead woman seemed like it was a reshoot, done for the benefit of the audience who were probably lost by this point. This almost had to have been the case if Dudits wasn't supposed to have been an alien until the second version of the movie ending was shot. Paul even mentioned that in neither the book ending nor the original movie ending was Dudits supposed to have been an alien. I would bet that after the movie was assembled, someone said "Look, we have to add SOMEthing to help the audience understand what's supposed to be happening. And Dudits turning into an alien is going to seem a little too left-field unless we try to set it up in some way."

It was after the Shawshank episode. I made a post called {I think} "Cargo Shorts and the Applebees Crowd." Then on the next episode, Amy started things out by asking Devin if he wanted to go get some Applebees.

Thanks Amy. It feels nice that you thought of us. We're thinking of you guys too.

Guys, this sucks. I mean, Devin pissed me off so bad I quit listening for months. I wrote an angry post on the old Wolfpop board that became such a long thread that it was referenced on the following episode. But I'll just say it, I'm gonna miss him.

I think most of my childhood friends grew up to be pieces of shit. Most recently ran into my first grade best friend, who in the course of the evening shoved some woman to the ground for dancing too close to him [or something]. So, no -
And the stuff about one's career being destroyed by a tweet....

OK, maybe not a 'good movie,' but one I enjoy. Like Sleepaway Camp. When I first heard that episode I was kind of pissed at Jason for saying "This movie is terrible!" until I realized that everything they were saying was true. -

Silver Bullet and Children of the Corn are both good movies! Not saying they wouldn't make great episodes, though. Sleepaway Camp is one of my favorite movies, and that episode seems to be like the gold standard. -

Well, I'm a 260ish pound man, and I'm 90% sure I'm going to be Boo from Orange is the New Black. -
Thanks Shannon. I've been a listener since episode one [back at Wolfpop]. I hope the show continues in any form.
-
I just saw the tweet about Earwolf and Devin parting ways. Well, shit! I guess I hope they do continue the show without him. I would miss Amy if they didn't.
-
The show shouldn't continue without Devin. I LOVE Amy and have found her quite friendly and interactive on social media, but the fact of the matter is that until this point Devin has handled most of the 'on-air' nuts and bolts of the show. He does the intro every week, he handles the ads, does the wrap-up. I'm not saying that any of this means she somehow doesn't deserve to run the show, but it would be a jarring change. The Canon would always have a cloud hanging over it. "For the first ninety-three episodes it was one way, and then some very pleasant things came out online, and ever since then the show has been this other way." For the rest of its existence, The Canon would be marred by this unpleasantness. Honestly, I hope the show can continue as-is someday, but I don't know how realistic a hope that is. edit: I made this post before I read the tweet from Earwolf saying they're parting ways with Devin.

WHAAAAT?!?!?! I even googled Daily Dot to make sure it wasn't a satire site. GodDAMN I'm bummed. Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goody Two Shoes is one of my favorite songs, and I've never understood the significance of the line "must be something inside," until now. Also, I have a cold too. Me and Devin should hang out! Is it too early to vote 'Yes' on Welcome to the Dollhouse? YOUCH! That choice for episode 100 hurts. I kind of hate you guys. I'm going to try to call.

Hard to say. Seems like The Mangler knew how bad it was. Dreamcatcher definitely did not. -

Alright! They're doing a movie I've already seen. No homework for me. Just sit back and let hilarity and ensue! -
Crusher and Troi doing those stretches, though!

Found it: During World War II, he had a friend named Kim Noonien Singh; after the war Kim disappeared, and Gene used his name for some characters in the Star Trek series (Khan Noonien Singh from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and Noonien Soong from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987)) in hopes that Kim might recognize his name and contact him.
-
Once again, I'm a little ashamed to say that I can't vote because I haven't seen this one. And I'm a Trekkie for god's sake, I've just never gotten around to watching this one. However if I were to vote, I would vote yes if nothing else but for the zeitgeist penetration this film has had. You don't need to have seen it to know what someone is referencing when they yell "KHAN!!!" And beside that, I do think we need some Trek in the Canon, because of the cultural influence it has had. Interesting bit of tid, Khan's full name is Khan Noonien Singh, and the scientist who built Data's name is Noonien Soong. I wonder why they did this and what the connection is.
-
I can't vote because I haven't seen the movie. Just wanted you guys to know that I loved this episode, and I love the show. I look forward to it every week. I really enjoy spending that hour with the two of you. Amy, I'm definitely going to check out that book. Devin, I also laughed out loud at "Hey Marty! Kundun! I liked it!" Keep it up, guys.

You can probably guess.
