    Boogie Nights

Ha! Like I said it took me a few viewings to get there but yeah, It is pretty great. Thank God This Got Made is fair. I had to work for it though. Boogie Nights for me was like Con Air. Bananas and weird but after a few tries I gave in and it was awesome. Fight Club was similar. Subversive and irreverent is always a draw. Very interesting, well written and acted. A bit above reality but a fun ride. You would have nailed me closer to the core with "Office Space" but well played sir.

    Boogie Nights

Fan of the show putting forward ernest suggestions. Do you honestly doubt the veracity of Boogie Nights as a worthy suggestion? Back it up with something more than dismissive rhetoric. This movie was epically bad/amazingly good. No brain damage required on this one buddy. I'd refer you to a mirror as to whom between us is trolling. Give the shutdown corner routine a rest and get on board. this is supposed to be FUN!

    Boogie Nights

The first time I saw this movie I thought it was a serious, period piece telling the story of a subculture that evolved into a billion dollar mainstream industry. I thought it was the worst piece of dreck I've ever seen. The second time I saw it with a group of friends in college. I was surprised that they were laughing throughout. Years later I saw Mark Wahlberg give an interview in which he essentially mocked his role and the movie and I finally realized it was a comedy. I watched it a third time by myself and laughed my ass off. I also realized, late, how much serious star power the movie had and how generous it was for so many talented actors to play comedic buffoons. Viewed as a primarily comedic enterprise some of the more poignant dramatic moments also landed for me on the third pass. So, my question is, if it takes three passes to realize a movie is actually really good does that count as a bad movie that should be reviewed? Thx.

    Grizzly Man

OK, then let's consider this under a different premise. I'm in it for the review, not for bragging rights on the forum so I'm flexible. Let's assume it is real. Setting aside that satirizing a documentary about people who died is perhaps too much of a stretch to be in good taste (in all seriousness, maybe it is). If this is 100% true and has not been "Herzoged" (he has admitted stretching the truth so I don't think this is out of line) I'm not sure this isn't an even better reason to do the review. I was initially willing to give the benefit of the doubt that Tim was being shown in an exaggerated and ridiculous light. If this is who he really was, wow. It would be difficult to do without coming off as ghoulish but I'm not sure it wouldn't be a public service. "The Darwin Awards" got away with it so it can be done. Thoughts?

It's on Netflix now. Watch it with an open mind and then Google Treadwell. I wanted to believe it too but then I did the research.

To be clear, the satire of this is aimed at Werner Herzog, not Tim Treadwell. Werner has it coming and PFT would be brilliant at it.

I agree that Tim was real but there is no way that the footage shown in the movie was "found". Footage of the attack with audio but no video? lens cap was on? Blair Witch anybody? Partially manufactured at the least. My beef is not with the guy, just with the movie. That makes it ever more worthy of mockery and satire.

I don't think all of this was real but I watched it anyway and fantasized about the mileage this show could get out of it with Paul F Tomkins as special guest. Currently available on Netflix. I would be willing to pay a reasonable sum to hear this reviewed.
