EPISODE 254 — We Go to Space to Come Right Back
monju125 replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Who Charted?
Mike O'Brien speaking truth to power about the format. I'm personally excited for the new format to start next week. -
EPISODE 104 — Nip/Tuck Commentary Episode 408

Oddly, no, they're scrapping Two Charted as well and doing just a host segment up front that will basically be Two Charted. Then they're going to do a guest segment. Wonder where they got THAT idea. -
EPISODE 104 — Nip/Tuck Commentary Episode 408
monju125 replied to agata's topic in Hollywood Handbook
Hi, remember when I whined about Who Charted? They listened and are scrapping the music/movie charts! My power has intensified, so just hope I don't turn it on HH. (My only complaint would be to get rid of that new guy Engineer Connor. I still don't know who that is. Stop it, Steve.) -
I think the new format will be a good change. I've felt like the conceit of the show with the music/movie charts has been stale for a while now. That might be heresy, so sorry, but I definitely think this will be better.

I didn't REALLY want to know, Steve. I guess I'm just glad I don't have to learn about another new engineer. I don't have the mental energy for that. -

EPISODE 102 — Joe Wengert Again, Our Close Friend

I hate to because I used to love it, but I agree that it's gotten stale. I think the conceit of the show has run its course, and the charts almost never lead to any actual conversation about the guest. Also, I might be the only one, but I'm completely done hearing about Summah/the ocean and how much Howard hates Wintah/space. Just like what you like and let other people like what they like. It's tiring. Hayes injected a much needed dose of energy into it though. Sorry, but it feels good to get that off my chest. I just watched the LAPodFest ep of HH. Pete Holmes was right: HH is even better when you can see their faces. More faces! -
Recommended starting point for newbie to HH

When in doubt, start with a Paul F. Tompkins ep. -
Is the show actually in danger of being cancelled?
monju125 replied to WhiteButStillHip's topic in Hollywood Handbook
I've been listening to podcasts for so long that it still feels so weird to think of it as a business. I'm glad it is, because otherwise most of the podcasts I listen to would have ended a long time ago, but I still sort of have this thought of podcasts as just a simple thing people do in their closets (c4FknL anyone?). -

Well, if you keep listening to this podcast, man, someday you'll get to my level. -
Episode 97 — Julie Klausner, Our Close Friend
monju125 replied to agata's topic in Hollywood Handbook
I got to be on stage with Julie Klausner once, coincidentally when I was in Hollywood. It was during a taping of her podcast and Billy Eichner interviewed/yelled at me before Julie and Ted Leo played a game of trivia about the podcast where they had to raise my arm whenever they knew an answer. She gave me a copy of "High on Arrival: A Memoir" by Mackenzie Phillips that Julie had signed. It was pretty great. -
Episode 96 — Tom Scharpling Again, Our Close Friend
monju125 replied to agata's topic in Hollywood Handbook
They've probably been avoiding it since the Pauly Shore incident. They did have that Wild Horses cameo recently in which Erin Whithead didn't understand Sean and apparently cried because she thought she was in actual trouble. Does that count? -
