  1. My theory about the truck in the vines is that the Phantom is under the same magic as Alan Quartermain from League of Extrodinary Gentlemen (I'm using the film reference). He couldn't die in Africa, he was blessed/cursed by a shaman (?) As long as the Phantom is in Bengala, he cannot die. The land protects him. Fun fact: She and Anthony Hopkins are both Welshpeople playing Spaniards

I love how easy it is to use in every context. I just discovered Whispering Angel isn't available in SK. It was a dark moment.

That's amazing. Our first date, we both showed up 30 mins early but within minutes of each other and were sat on opposite sides of the restaurant by different servers. We sat there and drank alone for 40 minutes until the bartender figured it out.

Easily the worst dating advice I've heard recently. Paul was saying everything I hated about the game. "Just ask for coffee, it's so low stakes" Sure it is, now I don't know if you're actually interested in me or this was super easy for you and there's no commitment. I do appreciate that every time Paul gave some advice, he immediately realized that "No, that's actually not a good thing to do." I like to see that people everywhere understand how bizarre dating "advice" is. We're all afraid of putting ourselves out there, in case we get rejected, but wishy-washy nonsense literally gets nobody nowhere. I met my partner at a Christmas party. We got super drunk and somehow decided to leave together at 3:45 am. He tells me as we were figuring out who's place to go to, I said something along the lines of "Are you too drunk to do this?" Been together ever since but I wouldn't recommend people to try out what worked for me. Watching Law and Order has kinda been ruined for me since going to law school. All I see is police coercion in confessions and super shady detective work. I really have to turn my brain off. I prefer Law and Order:Plain because the trial stuff at least engages in legal ethics. I do the Criminal Minds thing too but I usually speed through the Gideon episodes tbh. Early Spencer Reid hair and wardrobe makes me cringe. I only want to cringe at gore not clothes. I thought Paul was saying that his tips were 12 years old because he's been with June that long, not that asking for this kind of advice was something a 12 year old would do. I do sincerely hope that it was both.
  7. Cybil Shepherd was on an episode of Law & Order: SVU a couple seasons back. She played a southern (racist) TV chef who killed an unarmed black man in self-defense. Because the Paula Dean and George Zimmerman stories couldn't have just been single episodes in their own rights
  8. I agree with a lot here. First thing I noticed about the poster was that we really don't see her face. After watching the Wonder Woman animated film on Netflix (again, I've never read any comics), I found I had problems with Steve Travers as a character in general. They set it in modern times which made me uncomfortable because of how "traditional" he was. This is probably my own bias creeping in, with me being uncomfortable that that's the reality I live in. I understand that the conflict between them is the juxtaposition of Wonder Woman being a no-nonsense badass and Steve being a traditional (yet accepting of her being a strong boss-ass chick) man. Steve just kept talking about how Wonder Woman needed to acknowledge that she even had feelings but got mad when the feelings she expressed were of anger at how he was treating her. This obviously gets fixed at the end of the movie but it didn't sit well with me I'm curious if that's part of the rationale behind setting the movie during the War. It is much easier to wave off any sexism, which will be more overt anyways, as a part of "That's what it was like back then, it sucked. It's better now, right?" I'm curious if that slavery line scene wasn't edited for the joke, or if anyone explains that she does actually get paid for her work. Because if she works for Travers, then doesn't she actually work for the army/government? Emily Blunt was phenomenal in that movie. She did all her own yoga stunts as well, except on a few re-shoots after she found out she was pregnant. I'm super hopeful about Suicide Squad. I want a movie to succeed.
  9. Having done some research now on this, I want to double down on my statement. Don't go see it in theatres. The front half of this movie was so confusing for me because I thought it was in the original comic but knowing that they expanded that garbage to fill time and try to make us invested in Batgirl is infuriating. Batman usually been pretty shitty when it comes to talking to people he cares about and trying to get them out of harm's way but this was some bullshit There only part I felt connected to Barbara as a character was after and she's going through the emotional fall-out of that. That's not empowering though, it's an awful pining situation where she's not going to win. It's turmoil for the sake of it. TL;DR They made Barbara's fridge even deeper
  10. So full disclosure, I haven't actually read The Killing Joke so I can't really make comparisons. I didn't read any reviews and haven't heard anything about Comic-Con blogs. But I do have some comments The theatre was packed. I enjoyed the Mark Hamill intro. After seeing it, I wouldn't recommend paying for it if you're going out to the movies. It was also felt really short (hour and 16 minutes), the light hadn't changed outside when we left the theatre. at 8:30 There was one line that got a huge laugh in the theatre that my boyfriend and I both found out of touch and just a gay joke for a punchline, no real reason for it. Again not sure if that was in the original story. If it was, then okay sure maybe the laugh was a "reference" laugh. If not, then that's unfortunate. I found that nobody knew what the after-credit sequence was supposed to be. I kind of explained what The Oracle was to my boyfriend and heard other people around me "ohh".
  11. On a different note, it's my birthday and I'm going to see The Killing Joke tonight!
  12. I watched this for the first time today. The only time I cried was when Rey and Leia hugged while everyone else is celebrating. Just two women saying everything and nothing, that's all I needed.

If I'm honest though, I did like Ben Affleck's performance. I never liked Man of Steel so I'm just happy to have an acting performance to get behind. I've been saying this for-fucking-ever! There's a photo of the two of them in costume where Heath/Joker jumped over Bale/Batman on a skateboard in costume. That's the reality of that man. Still could ollie over the Dark Knight. Also to speak more to Ledger's method, on set that really extended to filming some stuff on his own guerrilla style. The videos that "The Joker" made, where he has the faux-Batman hostage, Chris Nolan let Heath do that himself. That's the kind of trust he had in Heath as an actor. Sure he could have just gone along with it and be all "If it's not good, I'll just re-do it" but I don't think that's who Chris Nolan is. Viola Davis wasn't putting up with that nonsense, she told him as much too. You don't fuck with Annalise Keating Again TL;DR essentially I agree with everything Taylor Anne says. I miss Heath Ledger and fuck you Jared Leto"

Yes! I have an opposite view in that I don't believe women should cut their hair shorter as they get older. I think it is a slippery slope to getting "old lady hair". It's a legitimate fear I have.

I've never fully understood rompers. I think rompers are the rosés of clothing. Why wear one item but give the illusion of two with the same pattern? If you want to give yourself a defined waist, wear a dress and a belt or simply wear separates. Full disclosure: I don't care for rosé wine. Red or white, just pick one

The Spirit was a really weird movie for me. The love interest's name was Ellen so it took me out of those scenes. Also seeing ScarJo dressed as a Nazi officer was off-putting. On the other hand, the movie was prescient for having Sam Jackson as the head of a shadowy organization and ScarJo as his trusty lieutenant.
  19. Fair enough. (Low) German, along with Danish and Dutch, is still a part of the Frisian language group from which modern English is generally determined to have been derived therefore Jessie could potentially figure out English, using mots amis, throughout the years as language evolved. I really believe in this theory and will defend it staunchly.
  20. Nathan could not have been more delightful. I was super sad when he wasn't able to stay. I'd like to imagine he would have poisoned Romeo so he can ascend from Cupcake to Miss Tina Turner (YASSSS LAWD) He'd still play Miss Understood as Romeo.
  21. I have a theory about this but it's kinda messed up. What if Jessie could still hear what's going on around her? It's been 1000 years so where has she been? Being carted all around the world to different stores/museums. I think she's gained her knowledge of English through osmosis. Does this mean she had some sort of sentience while in mannequin mode? Possibly. Does that mean she could have sensed every time a guy kissed her or a dresser touched her while using her for a display? Maybe. She could gain the knowledge of the language around her and still be either scared of stuff (fire extinguisher) or cool with stuff (electricity, cars). The shock of going back and forth from human to mannequin could explain her "daftness" in June's words. On the plus side, Jessie could be a polyglot for all we know!
  22. I really don't want to dive into the "Underage stars that turned/remained/became more attractive". It was weird the first time around
