Heat is the pinnacle of Michael Mann's career and one of the greatest films of all time. In the sea of Tarantino copycat mediocrity of 1995, Heat is The Godfather meets Citizen Kane. However, Thief from 1981 is essentially a proto-Heat featuring a career best performance from James Caan. In short, Michael Mann needs some love from The Cannon. Heat, Manhunter, Thief, Insider, Collateral...I don't care. Just give us an hour or so on Michael Mann.

If The Canon tackles a Gus Van Zant film, it should be My Own Private Idaho. Perhaps Van Zant's definitive film and River Phoenix's best work. So much to discuss as well in terms of its inception and filming (Phoenix, Keanu and costar Rodney Harvey all got hooked on heroin during filming. Phoenix and Harvey both ultimately died as a result of the drug use that started on this film).

What about No Country vs. Miller's Crossing?Arguably their two best films and two distinctive takes on the crime genre. I just want Miller's Crossing to get more recognition as an utter masterpiece.

Couldn't agree more about Manhunter. It's the best Thomas Harris/Lecter adaptation to date. Lambs is excellent but Manhunter is far better, with Brian Cox giving the superior Lecter performance. Also agree on Cruise in Collateral as it is easily his best work. Mann up already, Canon!

Worthy of discussion because: Huge influence on hip hop culture. Excellent action set pieces like the bathroom scene and the Baseball Furies. A realistic yet surreal late 70s NYC setting. Cyrus's speech The Canon needs to tackle 1 Walter Hill film. Two words: James Remar

Sorry, but this may be JCVD's best film as well as one of the best action films of the 90s. Most importantly, it is Woo's best Hollywood film. Yes, it shits on Face Off and MI2. With that being said, it would make for an amazing live episode.

Needs to be done if only to hear Jason go off on how utterly incredible Meredith Salenger was in the late 80s.

Would love to hear The Canon tackle a Walter Hill classic. He simply does not get enough mainstream love yet has made a plethora of influential genre films that are Canon worthy. Hard Times The Driver The Warriors Southern Comfort 48 Hrs Extreme Prejudice

Dreamcatcher is available on Netflix! This is not a drill, people. If you have not watched this beautiful train wreck yet, you have no excuse now. Re-watched it last night and it is every bit the mind boggling clusterfuck I remembered. Never have so many talented people (Kasdan, Goldman, Freeman and the rest of the cast) produced such utter garbage in Hollywood history. However, when you learn that King was high on OxyContin while writing the novel, the whole thing makes sense.

If they do another JCVD film, this must be the one. So ridiculous and yet so enjoyable. How about the redundancy in JCVD film titles? How many have "Death" in the title? Death Warrant, Sudden Death, Wake of Death, Until Death!!! Double Impact, Double Team

JCVD's golden age (1988-1995) has held up remarkably well. Double Impact, Universal Soldier, Hard Target, Timecop and Sudden Death is an awesome run for any action star. Even lesser known gems from this era (Lionheart, Death Warrant) are very re-watchable.

I know this is getting beaten to death, but I am so disappointed that fellow Massachusetts native Jason Mantzoukas had no idea that Ipswich was on the North Shore. Crane's Beach? The Clam Box? I find it hard to believe a North Shore/Boston area boy has never heard of these and would have no idea where they are located. His MA bonafides need to be revoked. However, I think he was simply confused with Scituate which is indeed on the South Shore. I am sure he will redeem himself at the "Bloodsport" live show, which has the makings of being the greatest episode in the history of this podcast.

"How do you like your ribs?" Please,please do this film. Ridiculous 80s action films are sorely under represented on this podcast.

The budget on this thing was huge for the time : $ 55 million Then you find out that most of that was paydays for the key players ($10 mil to Russell, $5 mil to Carpenter, another $5 mil to Debra Hill), and no wonder the film looks incredibly cheap. This, Beverly Hills Cop 3 and Another 48 Hours could make up a series on "Belated Sequels That Ruined Your Favorite Films."

A top 5 guilty pleasure. Even mediocre Carpenter is more watchable than 90% of films out there, but this one is tailor made for HDTGM. This one may have turned out better if they let Carpenter cast Statham in the lead role rather than Ice Cube. Also, Courtney Love dropped out at the last minute and was replaced by Henstridge. The mind boggles at a Statham-Courtney Love film from John Carpenter.

Dreamcatcher - the most HDTGM film of all time. The Happening - off the charts hilarious. How Marky Mark became a leading man is a mystery for the ages. Death Wish 3 - Bronson vs. the cast of Breakin' Double Impact - height of JCVD awesomeness. Little Nicky - Sandler's entire filmography is garbage. With that said, this one is heads and shoulders above his other trash.

Huge bump on Stone Cold. There was a 30 for 30 on the Boz recently and they barely touched on Stone Cold. Needless to say, I was furious.

Seagal's movies beg for the HDTGM treatment. It's amazing that the one Seagal film they have done is Glimmer Man! Out for Justice is wall to wall unintentional comedy. Even as kids we ripped on that film mercilessly.

Carpenter had an incredible run from 1976-1988 (Assault on Precinct 13 to They Live). Maybe one of the greatest runs a director ever had if you look at the films he cranked out during that period. But everything from 1992 on is a shit show. Incredibly watchable shit shows though. Vampires, Village of the Damned, Escape from LA and Ghosts of Mars would all make incredible episodes.

This is an all time late night classic. If you grew up in the 90s, this was a staple of the old Joe Bob Briggs show and USA Up All Night. It falls into the Crank/Fast Five category of being so bad it's good. As Jason might say, the show would have to be called "Thank God This Got Made".

This movie is long overdue for the HDTGM treatment. An ancient Charles Bronson vs. the cast of an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical from the 80s. This is easily the high point of the absurdity that was Cannon Films. In fact, a whole Cannon retrospective could be kicked off with this masterpiece. Long live the Giggler.
