Episode 248 Velocipastor
i'll hold the mike replied to Elektra Boogaloo's topic in How Did This Get Made?
We have a new champion for cheapest movie! This, Sleepaway Camp ($350,000) and Chopping Mall ($800,000) are the only HDTGM movies so far under the $1 million mark. I really did not think that there would have been an episode on a movie under $100K, but there we are. -
This was my initial reaction to Jason's view of the movie's message

Episode 243 - The Peanut Butter Solution

While we were first watching this movie, we were wondering why the kids didn't go to the cops. We were positing that there were no cops in the world of the movie, and then.... -

Definitely check out the Beastie Boys doc if you are the least bit into the band. My wife called it the Beastie Boys TED Talk. -
Episode 232 — The Adventures of Pinocchio: LIVE!
i'll hold the mike replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
Fun fact about the Chicago Theater: stickers are not allowed in the venue, because someone might stick one on some vintage molding or something like that. So I was stopped mid-distribution of the "John" / "Tall" stickers that some of you may have seen there. Paul, I sent you an envelope full of stickers but it got returned to me for some reason, so I still owe you some. -

Episode 225: Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives: LIVE!
i'll hold the mike replied to Smigg.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
So is Jason Voorhees the Jason of his group? This film comes in just under the top 5 most profitable movies covered in HDTGM, and is in the top 10 least expensive HDTGM movies (which explains why it was so profitable). This live show is Richmond's first appearance in the live venues list, but hopefully not the last! If the mention of Paul's Penthouse air freshener sounded familiar, please check out episode 84, No Holds Barred LIVE with Thomas Lennon for a previous mention. Jason: "Did it smell like pussy?" Paul: "It was scratch'n'sniff. You could scratch her butthole, you could scratch her front hole..." Also, Jason's comment at the end of the show about people counting up the kills in a Friday the 13th movie was amusing given the fact that the trailers for the early films actually DID count up the kills for you. Observe: You get the idea. -
EPISODE #223 - Disclosure (1994)
i'll hold the mike replied to Smigg.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
After a string of live shows it was great to get this in-studio episode. The non-stop banter with Emily and the always-reliable Nick Kroll reminded me of some of the best early episodes before live episodes became more prevalent. With this appearance, Nick moves into third place as most frequent guest, right behind Adam Scott and Jessica St. Clair tied for 1st (JSC moves into 1st if you count the non-canonical episode about Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets, which I usually don't). Disclosure charts onto the top 25 most profitable movies at a modest #17, nicely nestled in between Spice World and Timecop. Demi Moore also makes it onto the list of stars in most HDTGM movies (for Nothing But Trouble, LOL, Striptease, and now Disclosure). -
Episode 222 - Unforgettable

So we never will find out the meaning of "put me near the toilet", huh? That's cool. Cities gotta have their secrets. I just cannot wait for the new Chicago shows to be posted so you all can hear the amazing Paul Scheer childhood story behind this design. -
Episode 221. The Hottie and the Nottie
i'll hold the mike replied to Elektra Boogaloo's topic in How Did This Get Made?
The Hottie & The Nottie comes in at #4 on the HDTGM least profitable movies list. It joins The Room, Gooby, and Deadfall in the list of movies that made less than 1% of their budget back at the box office. Oof magoof! I've updated the HDTGM info site with the most recent stats, along with an update of graph code. There are three new info graphs: the least expensive movies (because why not), movies covered the soonest after their release, and cities hosting live shows. I've been wanting to do something with the live show location data, so this is a first stab at showing it. -
Episode 220 - Hobbs & Shaw: LIVE! (w/ Adam Scott, Nicole Byer)
i'll hold the mike replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Out of curiosity I was looking at the differences between HDTGM film release dates and the dates that their corresponding episodes are posted, just to see what the "most recent HDTGM movie" has been over time. H&S is just barely in the top 10, at 13 days post-release date. Not too surprisingly all three Sharknado films are in the top 5 (for example, Sharknado 2 was officially released July 30, 2014 and the episode is dated August 1) and the remaining 2 are Nic Cage films that were covered very early: Season of the Witch and Drive Angry. This data will of course eventually go into the info site, which is gradually gathering more and more meaningless pieces of info to help you all settle bar bets between HDTGM fans. -
Episode 220 - Hobbs & Shaw: LIVE! (w/ Adam Scott, Nicole Byer)
i'll hold the mike replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Episode stats: H&S is in the top 5 most expensive HDTGM films, along with Spiderman 3, The Fate of the Furious, Green Lantern, and Furious 7. Jason Statham now has been in 9 HDTGM films, in second place behind voiceover master Frank Welker. H&S is the second film of 2019 to be covered; the other one is of course Serenity, everybody's new favorite video game movie. Guest host Adam Scott has been in 8 HDTGM episodes (Fast Five, F&F 6, Glitter, Furious 7, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Fate of the Furious, The Meg, and H&S) placing him in a tie for first place with Jessica St. Clair for most number of episodes. JSC goes to first place if you count Valerian, the Stitcher-only episode, but I go by the Earwolf list which doesn't list it. -
Episode 219 - Drop Dead Fred: LIVE! (w/ Casey Wilson)
i'll hold the mike replied to SlidePocket's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Epilogue: this episode was recorded at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, not the Bell Theatre (which does not exist, at least in Los Angeles). I discovered this as I started gathering stats on live episode venues for possible inclusion in the HDTGM infograph site. -

Episode 218 - Deadfall (w/ Chelsea Peretti)
i'll hold the mike replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
Also also, now that I've seen HDTGM live shows I enjoy mimicking Jason's movements when he's introduced on a live show: flipping the double bird to an invisible audience screaming "ZOOOOOOOOOOKS"; picking up an imaginary microphone and tapping it to make sure it's on; and then shouting "WHAT'S UP JERKS! How we doing, (name of city)?" -
Episode 218 - Deadfall (w/ Chelsea Peretti)

Apropos of nothing, I'd like to see a deepfake with Tall's face on Arnold Schwarzenegger's body -
Episode 218 - Deadfall (w/ Chelsea Peretti)
i'll hold the mike replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
With its measly box office performance Deadfall debuts at number 2 on the least profitable HDTGM movies list. Only The Room has done worse, and only those two films earned less than one percent of their budget back at the box office. Also, I'm very concerned that I too did not hear about this movie until this episode dropped. Are we perhaps in a Berenstain Bears Scenario, and living in an alternate universe of previously undiscovered 1990s Nicolas Cage movies? -
Also, Jason DOES look pretty cool on a jet ski....

I am 1,000 percent in agreement with John and Jason about how great Tom Bihn bags are. I've had one of their Brain Bags for years now, and totally covet their Maker Bag.

Forget Jacob's Ladder Scenarios, there's a caller on this episode who posits a June Lockhart Scenario!
