Musical Mondays Week 21 Guys and Dolls

The racetrack near me has a lot of green and white which I think is pretty common in racetrack coloring. But I can't seem to find a racetrack named Whitney - just a race at Saratoga called Whitney Stakes. . BTW this is a question that's impossible to google - I keep getting actual people showing up in the search -

I thought he was talking about the horse race, but in retrospect I don't know if that makes sense. I don't know if they have colors. -

Two things really bummed me out about that wedding. #1 is Sarah not getting to wear a wedding dress or something other then her dumb uniform. #2 is the fact that it was a double wedding - the guys didn't really seem to be good friends at all and the women didn't even know each other. How disappointing for everyone -

Oh this movie felt very long. Not helping was the fact that I got the DVD from the library and had no way to see where I was at. I finally just wikipedia'd the song lists so I could have a sense of how far I had to go. -

Can we talk about the craps game? I didn't understand how SO many people were involved, but no one wanted to host it. Host it in the barber shop, where every single person wants in! And why wasn't that sewer the first choice for location? Maybe the dice would get lost really easily since they kind of just throw them everywhere and not in a specific area. I think I might be playing craps wrong, but is it generally everyone throws down money and one person just rolls? Don't you have to bet on WHAT he rolls? To be fair, I've never played this kind of backalley craps. It also made me laugh that the police show up, sirens blaring, which the look out guy hears and then warns everyone. The police get all mad that 'someone' tipped them off - dummy, YOU tipped them off. If they had pulled up without sirens, they would have caught everyone! -

Can Channing Tatum even sing? JGL I could get behind, but not Channing. -

Its been ages since I've seen this movie, so I had forgotten pretty much everything except for the few songs everyone probably knows. This might be the original She's All That style bet that's now a weird trope. I did not understand why Sister Sarah fell for Sky at all - nothing he did really showed he was a good guy nor that he would become a good guy. I can get being attracted to him, but other than that he doesn't have any real redeeming qualities. This movie takes place in what, like 72 hours? Why was he even going to Havana at all? It seemed like when he got there all he did was tour churches (by moonlight? What time is it?) and get Sister Sarah drunk, then come back to New York like 5 hours later. On the good side, Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat is now stuck in my head and I could not be happier. I love that song. -
Oh I enjoy it, its just a super bizarre movie.

Episode 10 - Always Sad, Always Happy (w/ Will Hines)

Zach seems like he drinks a pot of coffee before he does this podcast, he's so loopy and full of energy. Love this episode! -
Lake Placid - it has PFT's rant about David E Kelley's yellow legal pad and the Reese's Pieces discussion. Also - Deep Blue Sea, From Justin to Kelly, Temptations of a Marriage Counselor and Birdemic - everyone is just so happy and enjoying the movie they watched. And if it hadn't gone behind the paywall before I got a chance to save it, I'd say Howard the Duck too.

Oh I've been wanting to watch this recently! Somehow I got the song Fugue For Tinhorns stuck in my head recently so this will help out. Or just burrow it deeper into my brain, either/or. I think I'm done with my crazy schedule for the summer, so I'm free and clear until the holidays (fingers crossed). Happy that I get to jump back in on this one! -
Episode 9. All Of Our Business (w/ Erin Whitehead)

These two songs made me laugh ridiculously hard in my car this morning. Erin was a great addition! -
Probably Twilight, but the Anna Kendrick character's experience not any of the supernatural stuff

Episode 8 - Everything Is Nature (w/ Mike Still)

I love when Zach and Jess have animal characters in their musicals. Always adds a layer of insanity. -
Not yet, but I do have a dream of owning my own coffee shop some day. So I'll just get a wedding dress when I secure that business loan.
-
"A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri Kidding of course. I'm pretty far from getting married (unless I have one of those crazy rom-com relationships where you get married within a week of meeting) but I've always liked the idea of having my first dance being "Baby (You've got what it takes)".
-
My friend got married a few years ago and said she might use that song as her first dance because it was right after Twilight was released, she's a huge Twihard, and that song was a big thing in the movie (I guess, I never saw it. Its a huge point of contention in our friendship lol) . I mocked her a bit so she changed it to something else, but then added it as one of the last songs of the night and told the DJ to dedicate it to me.

HDTGM Classics Vol 3 Old Dogs (9/15 9PM EST)
SaraK replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
I'm out of town this weekend, so I won't be able to join. But I'm not too bummed because this movie is depressing -
Honestly I think the mariachi band is the first sign of Yasmin's psychotic break. She's suppose to be our main brat right? We never visit Jade's house and barely spend time with Chloe and Sasha's but both their parents home are relatively grounded and so are their issues. Any time Yasmin gets involved, things get way over the top and out of control hijinks happen. She's the only one that wasn't able to make new friends or connections. I think she might be insane.

This is random but I just remembered that the girl that plays Meredith was also on Dancing With the Stars. Weird that two cast members from this were onthat show. Different seasons though. Though they're both on ABC Family/Freeform shows so maybe they just pull actors from that network a lot.
-
If that's the story about how her dad disappeared, then that's a really crazy sleepover adventure.
-
I know that this came up in the mini episode thread - but Jade's plan is to change clothes at school in the middle of a courtyard with just her friend's surrounding her? A) There's not really space to change and doesn't seem like it would be any sort of cover to change. Why not just go to the bathroom? Or behind a wall? Just for fun, I looked up the goofs on IMDB and this one made me laugh: I feel like I'm being really harsh on Jade but she was my favorite. I just wanted better for her.

That is an insanely deep reference for a children's movie. And also a bit horrifying.
